You can tell when Hayden realized the fans started to love him, he did a panel with Palpatines actor way before coming back to Star Wars and when he got high praise on stage from the audience, Hayden had looked like he just saw a ghost. Never seen him smile that hard. He deserves all the love.
Which panel was that again?
@@Charliebethpretty sure it’s the one from 2017 Star Wars celebration
I got the best arch it litterly last 400 years and I'm alive threw it
I've always liked Hayden Christensen as Anakin, never understood the backlash.
For real dude. He did great from what George Lucas gave him.
Starwars fans will never be satisfied. Fans of the Original trilogy hated the prequels. It wasn't only until 20 plus years latter that they've grown on people. One thing original and prequel fans can agree on, those sequels never happened.
George cant make a proper movie without his wife, even Mark Hamill had to refuse certain dialogues written for him.
I think people needed time to relax (because they are never happy) and finally realize how great his character portrayal really was.
@@BattleDamageProps Yeah, the sequel trilogy sucks, I don't even consider them as canon.
I’m so happy Hayden finally has the love and respect he always deserved.
Thank the sequel trilogy and Rey for that! I should say thank god, but no thank Rey and 3 shitty sequel films. Even Mark Hamill hated it lol
Exactly Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker was awesome 😎
@@Cornholio1981 Not just Rey but the bad writing of the sequel trilogy and the portrayal of Luke and the original trilogy characters.
🥲 I love that Hayden’s advice to his younger self would be “patience” being that, “patience” was one of the key lessons Obi-Wan was always trying to teach Anakin in the prequels, especially in Attack of the Clones.
Awesome!
The circle is now complete.
@@melvinloyalist6758 When I left you I was but the learner. Now I am the master.
@@spencertaylor-mrliltay Only a master of evil, Darth
Even when I was a kid and I had watched the prequels, to me Hayden was my ideal Anakin Skywalker, and even now he always will be my Anakin Skywalker.
Yep same.
FACTS Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker was awesome 😎
I’m old enough to have seen the original trilogy in theaters. Being a little kid and becoming immersed into George’s world was awesome. I am also one of those people that love the prequels. I always thought Hayden was the perfect Anakin. He was so genuine, caring and loving that it was heartbreaking to watch his destiny unfold. He’s such a complex character played to perfection imo.
Honestly his swordplay as Anakin is dazzling to see as well, he's the most exciting character to watch in action with that lightsaber. Even all these years later he's still killing it
"I had heard that they'd met with Leonardo and a bunch of other actors," Christensen revealed. "That just confirmed my thought that the role would go to another actor. Through the entire auditioning process I had told myself, from day one, that I wasn't going to get the part. It just wasn't a possibility. And I think that probably helped me a lot because it just freed me up in a lot of ways. And so it really came as a surprise to me when I got the part."
Leonardo would make it worse
I always liked Hayden. He was my favorite. I never knew he was hated when I was a kid and wasn’t into Star Wars online that much.
Same my friend. I LOVED him as Anakin. I was always Anakin when playing Star Wars with my friends, I used to wear one black glove on my right hand to kindergarten because I was obsessed😂😂
Hayden was on point about the people behind the criticism of the PT. Anakin was a psychologically complex, traumatised person made by the force, an alien concept. Critics and many from the fandom forget that Star Wars is not about real life and expect the characters to act like real life human beings. Anakin wasn't a typical normal human being. For me personally, Hayden epitomised the emotionally labile Anakin and his conflicting dark emotions to becoming Darth Vader perfectly. George also wanted Anakin to be awkward in his interactions with Padme as Anakin was brought up in a sheltered, strict Jedi lifestyle not allowing attachments and emotions to be freely expressed. I had no issue with the sand dialogue due to the association with his past life on Tattoine. I like videos like this, more please.
Naaa what a cop out for bad acting. I’m sorry but plenty of characters go through trauma, trial and errors, but give amazing performances.
@@davemac9563 bad directing, bad dialogue
Growing up as a prequel fan once I owned 1-6 all on DVD and they all had a similar look, it always just made to watch them numerically and I never saw much of a difference in the 6 movies they all felt like one cohesive story. Hayden was the biggest part of it for me because I had the special editions as a kid and seeing him as the force ghost at the end of 6 was what made the whole story so amazing.
when i was a teen back in early 2000's, i fell in love with the prequel and didn't understand the hate back then. now I'm happy that it's receiving the love that it deserved.
His acting was criticized and reasonably so. Maybe it wasn’t his fault but it was his performance.
Because they're hammy and have too much noticeable green screen.
From what I gathered, most of the "hate" came from fans of the OT who thought it was too different. Like too much action, too much politics etc, or that OT was more simple and adventure-ry.
The prequels where perfect and advanced the art of film, both technologically and story-wise.
I think the animated series really helped show the transition for Anakin more than the movies, how war changed him, how it wasn't a rapid change but a gradual one. And I for one would love to see more live action CloneWars with Hayden.
Woah what's this? Hayden will finally bring balance to the fanbase?
Is he...The Chosen one?
DA CHOSEN ONE
@@fa11endawn16”He will avenge us.”
❤😂 perfectly stated!
On that bit about Anakin’s sith eyes, this is one of my theories:
I feel like Anakin never wanted to fight Obi and he kept the fight going with the hopes of a positive outcome(maybe, with some conflict in there) but Obi Wan never truly tries to help him. All he does is judge him and tell him he’s being manipulated by the only person offering a solution to his problems. By the end of it, before he jumps towards Obi Wan, i think Anakin either would’ve disarmed him or killed him in a similar fashion to that scene from the OR cinematic with the twins where one brother got carried away by the moment and “accidentally” killed the other but it was never his intention and he immediately regrets it. So Anakin having no real intention of killing Obi Wan to then Obi, without hesitation, chopping him off… Made Anakin realize that the bond he thought he had with Obi wasn’t as deep or important to Obi. Makes sense tho, given Anakin’s emotional personality/attachments and Obi wan being the complete opposite. Even with Satine, he never truly gives in to emotion or the bond. So in that moment Anakin gives in to the only thing he believes he has left, anger and hate and it even makes Anakin hating Obi wan that much deeper. He truly felt betrayed by him. He felt like Obi chose everything but his “brother”
This is a very interesting take that I've somehow never really thought of, I think I agree with this idea
I agree with what you said about their relationship and why "I HATE YOU" happened alongside Sith eyes.
I do think that's only the momentary reasoning though. Anakin already made the choice to slowly go to the Dark side before their conflict. But he chose to fight Obi-Wan as a Jedi without the Sith eyes.
I don't think Anakin hated Obi-Wan. I think he hated that Obi-Wan was better than him. I think he hated how much it proved that Anakin was actually weak. Weak in the Light side because he couldn't beat Obi-Wan and weak in the Dark side because Palpatine is astronomically stronger. I think Anakin was lost in his hatred for always being too weak to protect the people he loved.
My personal belief overall is that Anakin had some grand "Chosen One" ideal in his mind that he'd one day get to. He realized he was below some as a Jedi while also being hindered from the top so he chose to dabble in the Dark. I think Anakin wanted to be something greater than Light and Dark so when he ended up fighting Obi-Wan he didn't need to channel enough Dark to have the eyes. He was just channeling enough Force to prove his strength. He was lost in so much emotion (and only learned how to suppress it as a Jedi) that he made a bad call and got his limbs chopped off.
Anakins story is sad and his existence as Vader came to be because of a lot of terrible choices Anakin made. The system in place was old and rigid. The bad guy was creeping around corners and whispering in his ear. Regardless, Anakin still chose to kill, to break his code, to lie and hide it and most importantly, he chose to change the direction of the galaxy for his own personal wants of love and family. I think he wanted to be the best, but nothing around him was the best to actually make him that way
What on earth are you talking about? Obi-Wan never claims Yoda is manipulating Anakin and tells things to Anakin as they are.
@@mpnuorva Its very clear im talking about Palpatine, the only person that is offering a “solution” to Anakin’s nightmare’s 😂
@@Crystantemum i can see this as well. Honestly there is so much one can get from this scenario, i hope it gets talked about by George one day
The original trilogy was my childhood trilogy. I saw them in theaters when released. I was so excited when the prequels came, and I absolutely loved them all. I remember leaving the theater after each of them with such a great feeling. I never understood the hatred and ire at the films. So I just dismissed the haters as people with all of their taste in their mouth. For my friends and I, we were all happily pleased.
The reason why Anakin and Darth Vader still has the resurrection from the public and the clamor to keep continuing his virtuous performance of seeing the most cinematic iconic character in history is because he's still well played, well written, well-performed and the most relevant character in Star wars.
He is still the most captivating and utilized character with all the Star Wars TH-camrs, in what-if scenarios and fan films.
Darth Vader's still number one, even with you and your current film.
Hayden deserves the love and he deserves the respect and I am a huge fan of Hayden, Anakin, and Darth Vader.
The only question that is never asked by any of the interviewers, is that I would love to hear the answer from Hayden who's such a sweet, good-natured, positive and HUMBLE human being...WHERE did he find in his soul to play such an intense and hateful role? To evoke such emotion?
That's a true PROFESSIONAL TALENT ❤
I really think a lot of Anakin finally getting love is that more and more of us like myself and you. Those of us who were kids/teens when the prequels were new. Enough of us got old enough and talkative enough online and IRL spreading the idea that we did love the prequels and maybe that’s why they’ve been reevaluated publicly.
Talking about the moment Anakins eyes change after Obi-Wan fight, I think they changed because in that moment he realized he lost the one thing he had left, his brother Obi-Wan. It was the last strand still connecting him to good Anakin but when he saw Obi-Wan step back and begin to leave him, it was over. It was then he had lost it all and was fully consumed by his hatred and decisions.
Not terribly Jedi-like of Obi-Wan not to try in that moment either. Fracture point as big as the Chancellor's Office was for Anakin. The real Order 66 was leaving him to burn, and with it the Order's moral high ground. Make's Luke refusing both the Emperor _and_ Yoda/Obi's instruction to kill his father more poignant.
@@facilegoose9347👍
I think that people were expecting to see an older Anakin, more like the Anakin we see in the Clone Wars series. Instead they got to see Anakin grow up into character that in many key ways, not that character. They saw him as this young, naive, weak and whiny, temperamental emo kid compared to their pre-perceived version of what they felt that he should’ve been.
Anakin, as presented in the prequels was never my problem with the prequels. I can totally see how the guy could become Darth Vader. And I feel that Hayden did a great job.
How I resolve the issue of the differences that I see with the unstable character of the movies and the confident character of the TCW, is that some people just have to modes. In war, in battle, Anakin was in his element. Outside of that, he was a wreck. Plain and simple.
By complete coincidence, you started streaming this while I was watching your video reacting to Hayden's AOTC audition tape
Hayden has to credit a lot of Anakins renewed popularity to Matt Lanter’s voice acting in The Clone Wars. He really fleshed out the character !!
hayden doensn't have to credit anyone, especially the dude who made Anakin sound like a dudebro
Hayden was a good Anakin. He made the prequels, in my opinion. His chemistry with McGregor was gold.
my theory in why anakin dosnt have sith eyes when fighting Obi Wan is yes because he was reserving himself but not because he wasnt fully in the dark side. No Anakin wanted to beat obi wan as a jedi, he wanted to prove to obi wan that he was better than him and using the dark side would have defeated that purpose.
Man… now the end of their last fight between Vader and Obi-Wan makes even more sense why we saw the flashing of Vader’s eyes going back and forth 😮
Dude seeing hayden mouth those words: "help me!" To the one person Anakin once trusted as a father/older brother figure, as a final plea, brought back a memory of another scene, from the end of return of the jedi. As Sideous blasts Luke with force lightning while Vader looks on, and Luke begs his father with those same words: "help me." Something clicked in Anakin one last time.
I always liked Hayden as an actor i thought he was perfect as Anakin in Revenge of the Sith, I can see why some didn't like his performance in Attack of the Clones as some might of felt he was kind of emotionless or monotone but to me i thought it was good, and I loved his other movies like Jumper, Vanishing on 7th Street etc i wish he didn't stop acting there for a while n im def glad he is back in the Star Wars universe and finally getting the recognition he deserves!!!
Jumper was amazing also credit to Rachel Bilson... there were talks of the sequel Reflex but poor Hayden was criticized by the critics for his acting so it was scrapped. The third book based on the side character Griffin got a video game, though... how dumb was that?
Great interview questions .... the sith eye's part is where he was committed on mustfar so George putting it there as Hayden look back at the camera showing Anakin commitment was great timing and prop for Hayden for speaking up and not shying away from asking George that question. I think the Sith eyes work with your emotions like hatred when he was burnt and chopped up he needed that hatred and anger to keep him alive. and Count Dooku was more calculated more balanced his drive isn't built on emotions I think, like Anakin was.
From what I’ve seen Anikan’s eyes had changed earlier in the duel. I don’t know where it began, but in close ups of his face during the “from my point of view” frame shows faint orange red eyes, they become brighter in the latter frames of him looking up from the lava bed.
I really wonder what Hayden had to say. I hope it's something good! I have always thought he played the part perfect as Anakin.
There are a lot of emotionally afflicted young men now days who feel that Anakins Character relates to them. It gives them a sense of the ideal they want. They feel a sense of worth. They feel like lashing out, they feel like being strong, they feel emotionally vulnerable. This is a giant reason why Vader is not as popular as Anakin. Speaking from personal experience his character relates to my situation as a teen. I’m a 17 year old guy and feel confused and lost Which is why I relate to his character so profoundly. There is a reason why movies such as Fight Club, Blade Runner, Batman and other movies that are relatively old are gaining so much popularity.
Hayden is such is really great guy. He was perfect Anakin. George had fatherly bond with him and lead him through Tuskin Raider massacre scene. Really nice. I agree. Anakin was between worlds while fighting Obi-Wan. He didn't him hate him until he got chopped off. It's funny how Hayden growled and yelled at the boy who asks"what are we going to do"? 😀Ian is also really nice person😃I believe how everything changed for Hayden when he was cast as Anakin. He did great job! I love prequels. I knoe how much he loved playing Anakin in Ahsoka. Really wonderful moment. It's great he loves Clone Wars show.Would ne great to see Hayden again in Clone Wars. With the girl who plays Ahsoka. I can imagine how much fun you had playing Anakin😀Anakin is like fine, old wine😀Watched for 32 mins. This is the longest video I watched here. Thanks😊May the Force be with you, always😀
I think the love for the prequels is growing bc the people who watched them and loved them have a voice now particularly in the social media world like TH-cam/reddit etc. I’m 23, to me my favorites will always be 1-3. I remember being a kid not understanding plot just watching how amazing the visual art/characters and spaceships were. As I grew up I appreciated the story even more now I appreciate all of it. Still love the original trilogy as well!
Yep, back in the day all the loud ones were the guys who had seen the originals as kids, now the ppl who saw prequels as kids are starting to turn 30 so things change
Anakin will forever remain my number 1 favorite fictional character of all time, hands down. Hayden, in my eyes, perfectly embodied everything I had ever imagined Ani to be like and then some, he gave so much to that role and to know that so many people voiced their disapproval of his work just breaks my heart, because I know Hayden worked his ass off to be Anakin.
I’m getting my Photo Op with him at Indiana comic con, I’m hyped!
It’s just taken 20 years for Hayden to feel the love, and the prequels to be appreciated because all of us kids at the time are now grown
I think there's so much love for Anakin and Hayden now because the ones who loved it or resonated with it more were the younger generation of teens who have now grown up and can voice their love for the character.
Anakin was my favorite character too. People loved him back then too but I think we were all just kids.
I think Anakin couldn't fully use his Sith abilities during the Obi Wan right because he still loved his as a brother. i think there was a part of him that didn't want to fight Obi Wan and wanted Obi-Wan to help him even after he lost; I think he wanted Obi Wan to save him from the lava but once he watched Obi Wan let him burn he fully gave into the dark side because he felt Obi Wan betrayed him. Obi Wan doesn't come to save Anakin and instead already made up his mind to kill him; Anakin finally realizes it at the end of the fight.
Bro everyone of our generations number one actor and character in Star Wars is Hayden and Anakin… then all the other appreciation stems from that starting point. Honestly as a kid/teenager before the prequels I couldn’t get into to Star Wars. Hayden and episode 3 put me on the path to becoming a Star Wars fan and getting into all the lore. The hate came from people who were bitter and ancient.
@Kdotslytheronin I pray we don’t fall to the dark side like then. But I hate everything about Gen z, I can’t in any world see in 15 years Gen z being like you guys misjudged Daisy in Star Wars and she’s the reason they love it honestly so I think we’re still on the right side of history lol. Gen z era is trash.
As with almost every other part of the body, vocal cords age. But these changes might not be as noticeable for everyone. As we get older, the larynx begins increasing its mineral content, making it stiffer and more like bone than cartilage. This change can begin happening as early as your thirties - especially in men, therefore changing ur voice, some get deeper but most others go up in octave
26:11 Fr! I grew up in a community that didn't really like Star wars as much as my family did and I always really like the prequels and Hayden's portrayal of Anakin as well- they didn't understand how I could be a fan of them or like Anakin as much as I did
I always liked his performance and I'm glad he's getting the respect he deserved
I liked Hayden back in the prequels because I already knew "he's becoming Vader one day, so he must make a dire mistake probably". His mistake was he was impatient with getting justice, naive to the dark side, and he couldn't handle loss. He fit the role fine in Episodes 2 and 3, and his emo-phase looked perfect by the end of 3.
What happened is that the sequels came out and people compared it to the prequels, and they realized the prequels weren’t as bad as they remembered.. and that there were so many “iconic” scenes from those movies alone. I can barely remember the sequels and I’ve seen them twice, meanwhile that Darth Maul scene, and 20 more scenes were so memorable, plus the the dialogue… if a movie is that memorable then it must have some good things about it. People finally realized what a gem it was. And I think back then people in the mainstream weren’t aware of how traumatized people behave way different than an average Joe. Since I also had a traumatic childhood I always saw Hayden’s performance as accurate to trying to “keep it together in public”, while falling apart internally sometimes. And Ewan’s lines, practically all of them, are oddly memorable too. So overall, I am glad people finally get it.
You know i was watching star wars new hope, and luc is like is father, impatient and short temper, love it so good👍
I love the Prequels
First saw it in end of 2020 and in the beginning of 2021. And didn’t know anything about the Prequels nor didn’t know that Anakin was Darth Vader and Episode II caught my Star Wars love ❤️
Hayden is a sound actor and like you’ve said @StarWarsTheory, he was only acting as he was told. I like the Ahsoka Anakin however as it feels like a blend of Clone Wars and Prequels-PERFECT!
its kinda common sence the only reason anakin didnt have sith eyes for obi wan was because to anakin obi wan is basically his father and he loves him more than he does hate him he didnt want to kill or hurt obi wan he wanted him to join him but dont forget obi wan trained anakin/vader since he was a kid so a course and he is the master of form 3 and plus obi wan knows how much anakin loves jumping in the comics anakin trains obi wans jump move to slash maul cause he was a big fan of it so and obi wan predicted his move and countered it
I love Anakin Skywalker too, but that doesn't make me in love with all the actors playing the character. I also love the old Anakin, where he is saved by Luke. That scene brings tears every time! Christensen is a part of a larger Anakin, spanning generations.
People who accuse you of being in love with Christensen because you love one of the characters that he plays are laughable. If you were "in love" with Christensen you would have been a ''fan boy'' of all of his movies, not just being a fan of the Anakin Skywalker character that he plays.
That was a really good interview
I agree with your assessment of Anakin not having Sith eyes during the fight with Obi-Wan. I always thought that it was because Anakin was conflicted about trying to kill his former master and brother-in-arms.
How important is for an actor to have a presence? Hayden Christinsen definitely has a presence! And that is why he is the perfect choice to play Anikin. When he appeared in Ashoka, i got goosebumps!
This discussion really makes me appreciate the character and Christensen’s performance more. He wasn’t a flat character. His evil comes and goes in waves because there is good in him. Eventually the waves overwhelm him, but the internal conflict is something that needs to be appreciated.
I saw the movies in the theaters and we loved them. I didnt know they were hated till a couple years later lol.
Hayden always nailed Anakin, I wasn't much into Star Wars during his hate period so I've never understood the hate, it really seems like many just didn't understand that Anakin is a trouble man and Hayden played that role perfectly IMO
👍
Heart break is different than frenzied rage. When the fight starts he's still clinging to hope, but by the end of the fight his failure pushes him into blind hatred.
Hayden’s always done an incredible job at showing anakin or Vader’s conflict. And for the character of anakin that’s exactly what’s needed.
He was conflicted in the fight in the obi-wan show also. It's like the pure hatred only shows when he can't kill obi-wan. But when he has the power to in his hands, he feels conflicted.
Show that Chosen One Love ⚡🤘
@starwarstheory at 1:59:30 when Obi cuts anakin apart, his eyes burn the moment he sees obiwan walk away after his plea for help. It shows the shift in real time
Love Hayden Christensen! I couldn't imagine anyone else who could have played that scene in Attack of the Clones or be Anakin Skywalker in general.
I think the reason why there is much more popularity with star wars is because of social media. Content creators that like star wars or dive into it for business opportunities are what makes it more mainstream. So the people that never gave it a chance before finally are. What do you guys think? Cause i was the same way, I had to keep my love for star wars sort of secret due to fear of being bullied. I could only ever talk about it with family and close friends.
@20:55 I'm almost 34 now too, so with that in mind we were only 8-9 years old when Episode 1 came out. We didn't really have a choice in whether we like it or not. & for me, I'd already watched the OT with my great uncle and even saw a 'making of' the OT documentary in a Science Center planetarium. There was simply no way I could have been capable of disliking episode 1.
I know Luke vs Darth Vader is symbolic of Star Wars but ever since the prequels and Haydens portrayal as Anakin, Anakin and Luke is just as symbolic in my opinion. Like I could not see anyone else playing Luke or Anakin. Never understood why Hayden was bashed for his work. Anakin was relatable, he felt human which is what I'm sure George went for. Anakin was a flawed hero, which in a way is way more relatable then a Superman-ish hero. That's why Anakin and even Luke resonate with me because I have felt their feelings of sadness and hatred....I understood the need for Luke to redeem his father, I understood Anakins need to protect those he cared about at any cost. Two fiction characters that felt very human and real.
It's probably also the mic you were using making your voice sound lighter. Though I've also noticed some content creators sounding different on and off camera, so maybe there's something about people being on camera that makes people deepen their voice. Could just be that you've developed your audio delivery over the years too. Though, 6 years of voice aging will definitely have some effect, thought I wouldn't expect this much. Might be because you talk so much it affected your vocal chords. Do your vocal chords ever feel tired or hurting after recording? That could affect it over time as your vocal chords adjust to get used to being used so much, like developing a muscle
Hayden was always great as Anakin, especially his body language.
I even didn’t know about backlash. Just enjoyed the movie and became a huge fan of it.
Revenge of the Sith was like an event for me. I remember clearly how heavy it felt to see Anakin suffer and scream "I hate you!" followed up to what I consider the best dialogue delivery by Obi-Wan.
We’re the same age! That’s awesome. I turn 34 at the end of May, haha.
Maybe doing the Sideous voice over the years made your voice drop some?
Zuko from atla has the best character arc
Hey Theory,
Can u do some videos watching old interviews of Hayden back in 2001, 2003, etc following Epsiodes 2 and 3? It would be interesting to go over those and see how he felt
I’m sure it was the comparison to the sequels that made people reassess the prequel trilogy. I remember talking with a friend around the time episode 7 came out and I was all hyped about the possibilities. I liked the prequels growing up but fell into the hate mob for a bit in my teens, eventually came to my senses but I was like, finally we’re getting good Star Wars and he was adamant that the prequels were still gunna be better. It wasn’t until we got to episode 9 when I said to the friend, oh man you were right. It’s okay to have your world view rocked. It was a paradigm shift for sure and I’m better for it.
My theory on ehy Anakin is much more accepted by fans now is because all the older gen X and over fans went into the prequels expecting a young Darth Vader ti be a total badass from the ourset and him being so immature in ep 1 & 2 upset them. Younger fans didn't gave such preconceptions and also related to the character because they were also young. Neithier approach is nessacerily better but OT fans thought they knew better than George.
The fact that ObiWan refusing to help Anakin in the lava, being the turning point, hits SO MUCH HARDER
Hover your mouse over the edge of the top or bottom of a window till it changes to the double arrow cursor. Now instead of dragging the window, double click. This will keep the "Width" of the windows the same but "maximize" the windows height. Now all you need to do is adjust the width of the window then once it is set how you want, double click the top edge and maximize the height and you're good to go.
Couldn’t agree more with you, about what you said about how Hayden. As a kid people would make fun if I liked him. Like wtf he was a big important character in the Star Wars universe. At the end of the day as much as I’ve loved him coming back, I truly hate what Disney has done. Even the sword fights are horrible compared to what I grew up with.
Always loved this dude . The hate was so unwarranted
Looking at Obi Wan as a friend, a brother, I feel this is why he did not have the ability to channel that rage until he loss to the high ground. I feel in that fight he had doubt in whether or not what he was doing WAS truly right. Anakin was wrought with conflicting and uncertainty. Fear, desperation, guilt for what he did knowing there was no way back now. My opinion, just from a psychological standpoint. It was tearing him in half to the point where I feel like that was almost like there was a split personality going on through the events on Mustafar. Like he just snapped from being ripped in different directions
The reason that I say this is because in the kenobi series, where Darth Vader and Kenobi face off against each other. And he says I am not your failure. You did not kill Anakin skywalker. I did. He is referring to the Anakin skywalker as if he is a totally different person, then who he is. Which is what someone with split personalities does I only know this because I have split personalities and my fiancé will tell me when I have one of these episodes happen that my other personality would refer to me and almost like a third person context like I was someone completely different and it's so wild lol, but in reference to the movie. I don't know if that was something that was intentionally done. This is just by far my opinion of you know my perspective of how I personally see it
Hayden, Ewan, and Ian were the best parts of the prequals. There was a chemistry that existed between Hayden and Ewan that felt true to the characters and Ian is just the best, even in the Episode 9 you cannot fault Ian for his performance. I grew up with the original trilogy, great all around even with clunky bits, and felt the prequals were missing something, but didn't know what, and were great for the story they told, and the sequels were definitely lacking concrete direction, but that is not the fault of the actors or directors, and they were still good movies and about as Star Wars as you will get without George's guiding hand.
Anakin skywalker/darth vader in my opinion is the most complex charter in cinematic history. Anakin is also my favorite character and always was. I’m 32 now and I wasn’t really on social media much and I grew up thinking that everybody loved the prequels. I only recently learned that not everybody loved the prequels. I guess ignorance is bliss.
Love coming home and seeing these old school Live streams. Remember the Bonus Features and Star Wars news live streams :D were always the best to watch.
Great to Hear from Hayden so much since Kenobi released. I forgot they took out 'Help me Master' and wasn't it supposed to trick Kenobi to get closer?
think it would had been sweet to see that happen. Kenobi comes closer and anakin tricks him w/ 'Help me Master', Screams 'I HATE YOU' and then his eyes change.. His Chucky moment :D hahah 'I'M GONNA CUT OFF YOUR LEGS TOOOO'
I honestly think It was spot on about people getting their hopes up and allowing their expectations control if they like something or not.. idk, Go in knowing we didn't write it and it's going to be completely not what we think.. I love theories and my own expectations.. I have just learned to not it fuck with my star wars and what I Like.
I named my son after him! It’s been awesome having him in Star Wars again! Would love to see more of him as both Anakin & Vader in a season 2 of Obi Wan Kenobi.
Every musician has the same thing happen. Paul McCartney ended up having the same voice as John Lennon by the time he was 40. But it was much higher earlier. Everybody’s voice gets deeper.
Wish we could hear all of the cool behind the scenes stories that Hayden has to tell
as for the sith eyes i think the timing was right cause do remember he had great hate for those enemies since that attack on naboo an was only amped up from the clone wars
I think if George left in the master help me it also helps explain the transition as anakin fully feels obi wan has abandoned him and he has lost any feeling of kinship to obi wan
You said master of the darkside but I'd say he never mastered either side, rather he was the most powerful force user to ever live. Emotions kept him from fully embellishing either side. My opinion 😊
I think media and critics made it seem like more people hated him and the prequels, than actually did.
I remember feeling unfulfilled leaving Attack of the Clones, but leaving Revenge of the Sith feeling more sadness because I really enjoyed it…and now it was over. I loved the end fight scenes.
I really enjoyed you covering this. This style of video and your lore videos are so much fun to just have on a playlist while I do chores. It helps take me back to the days as a teenager reading all the comics and books. Disney ruined so many golden opportunities.
I think the reason why he is much known love now is because "we" who were young kids didn't have the "voice" to voice our love for him playing anakin. But now that we are much older and its our time we are making it known.
Hell, I'm still waiting for a proper sequel to Jumper!!!
Met Hayden at a comic con in Seattle. Super friendly dude.
It appears as if Anakin's eyes went yellow after he pleaded with Obi-wan, and he realized that Obi-wan was going to leave him to burn.
It just hit me that Obi Wan was determined to kill Anakin when he came to Mustafar. The atrocity that Anakin has done in the temple, and the potential for more terrors, was too great for him. That's why he really meant it when he said "I will do what I must" and "you are lost". Anakin didn't think Obi Wan would actually want to kill him. Anakin only fully realized that this was Obi Wan's intention when he did not attempt to save him. Anakin felt betrayed but he also felt the full terror of how much he had to mess up that his friend and master would punish him with death.
Hayden is the Chosen One. Idc what the internet says. No one could’ve done the the job he did. He was born to play the role. Again. He is the Chosen One.
Wait!!!
Can we talk about how this CONTINUES to prove that George was NEVER surrounded by "yEs MeN," and the actors, even the "shy intimidated newer actors," did have input on the script and ideas.
It comes down to this:
If George LIKED the idea, he would change his mind. If he didn't like it, he would shut it down.
This is the exact same thing he did for the OT.
So examples for ideas he shut down during the OT was as follows:
Han dying in 5 or 6
Luke turning to the Dark Side and wearing Vaders helmet
Keeping the scenes of Luke and his friends
Would LOVE getting g some new Clone Wars stories in live action.
29:41 reminds me of the scene in episode 3
Obi Wan: wait a minute how did this happen? We’re smarter than this
Anakin: apparently not. I say patience
Obi Wan: Patience?
Anakin: yeah, R2 will come and, he’ll deactivate the rayshields
R2 *enters* WWWAAAAAUUOOOH!!
Anakin: you see, I told you
I may have been an Obi-Wan prequel fan, but I always loved Anakin too. He was definitely my younger brother’s favorite. Luckily, my brother and I haven’t fought to the death over a river of lava (yet…)
