    I just bought the ex8, and I brought it to Brazil. I'm liking it here. There are lots of mountain options to pedal. here in Brazil this bike costs $ 5,000 and I paid for it in long island NY $ 2500

      Hi, I have a question about the change of the fork with a larger jump, I read that the bike ex fuel with a 29-inch wheel can be put up with a 140 mm shock absorber, and the use of a larger one is associated with the loss of warranty on the rame, is it true?

    Found this channel by accident.... great review.
    In the process of upgrading my 2012 Fuel Ex 8 26er with either the 2018 Fuel Ex 8 29er or the 2018 Remedy 8 27.5... still can’t decide.

    • @RideEatWander
      @RideEatWander  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man! Glad you found me and thanks for the props! The Remedy for sure will be the easiest transition for you since the wheel size isn't as drastic as a step. Also wheel size aside they are both in separate categories in my opinion. The Fuel EX 29er is a tried and true trail bike that can be tweaked to handle a bit more aggressive trails. The Remedy out of the box will be build to handle more with its slacker angles and more travel. The Remedy and the Slash would be a more Equal comparison and with that it will really come down to riding style and wheel size preference. I know 29er is pretty hot right now but try not to get too sucked into what trends are trying to tell you.

    Cool format, maybe a bit more on the bike footage. Bike specs audio from the studio with video from the climb maybe? Nice to know on each bike if it's threaded bb or not and what size water bottle would fit. Really cool showing footage of the suspension travel as well as the pedal Bob etc off the bike footage, pretty unique from what I've seen.

    Fuel ex8 is a pretty good value. Sounds like it could have benefited from a stiffer fork. The new pike based revelation may have been A good fit at this price point.

    • @RideEatWander
      @RideEatWander  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its a great value. This and the Giant trance cant get much better. I think the overall stiffness of the frame though definitely highlights the forks lack of stiffness. Pike for sure would have been much better.

      @RideEatWander  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would have to say the Trance 29. The geometry of the bike is just so good that you can really ride hard confidently. The Trek isn't far off but in my opinion the Trance is that much better.

      @@RideEatWander turns out that the wheel and rim set and rear suspension were swapped with the ex9 2017 model. I wonder if i won the swap since the ex9 2017 is $4000 compared to ex7 2018 $2500. Yeah the scratches are small, bearable. Just cosmetics and some rusts on some small screw parts. What do you think?

    • @RideEatWander
      @RideEatWander  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I compared this bike intensively to a 2018 Giant Trance 1.5. like them both but bought the Trance. Both weigh the same and behaved similarly when riding. Reasons speaking against the Trek are that
    1 I sit way too far in the front due to the bike being short - it is a 19.5", I am 6'2"
    2 the knockblock
    3 the GX Eagle didn't shift well, although that may be a matter of tuning.

    • @RideEatWander
      @RideEatWander  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya the Trek has a longer stem and also shorter fork so that is probably where you get that feeling. The Trek is a true trail bike where the Trance is almost like a mini Reign. I never had issues with the knockblock but I can see where it could falter. Your eagle set up probably just needed some tuning as it felt almost identical to my XO
      Cheers!

      @JoeORMERO 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yogy W-man trance is lighter I believe?

    • @yogyclimbs
      @yogyclimbs 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoeORMERO They weighed exactly the same - Trance 1.5 in L, F Ex8 in 19.5. Anyway, as the latter felt a bit short for me, the 21.5 should have been compared which then is heavier then the Trance. PS: I also met someone who said that a lot of people tend to bigger sizes with Trek in general.

    I think the rear is too short, the chainstay is too short, the wheelbase is too short, the head angle is too steep. and of course these things will make the bike less stable than desired.
    at least they got enough room for the 2.3 tyres.
    on my 2014 Fuel EX there was not enough room, both tyre flex and flex from chainstay and BB area movement would cause the tyre to rub.
    I see everything is beafier too. my 2014 Fuel EX is horrendous, but got some decent components, the new frame looks stiffer for sure, but I don't like their chainstay to Evo link pivot, I would put Double shear joint there instead of single shear.
    but the new bike is in the plans, but I haven't made a decision on a frame yet. probalby Pole Evolink or Nicolai G

    Is that a good bike for in between beginner

    • @RideEatWander
      @RideEatWander  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. I hold the opinion that no bike is too much for anyone. Sure it may have parts that one doesn't need or someone just wants to flash the most expensive build but in my experience, if you know you are going to be dedicated to mountain biking, don't get stuck getting a bike you will have to replace after a year. You will grow into anything you purchase as long as you buy the closest suitable bike for the kind of trails you want to ride.

    I got 32 forks with grip damper & 2018 CSU on my bike, I can feel the flex on my frok, when riding hard, I think I will need 35mm fork.
    Sram Centerline ortors have to go! they are very noisy. I think it's the big oval shaped ventign holes on the braking surface that is causing this, horrible design.
    I haven't tried the wheels this ibke has, but on previous budget wheels the spoke nipples were weak and like made of cheese, 32 spokes would be nice, but htey stuck with 28 spokes.
    also I don't know if it's easy to take tyres off these rims or not, but previous BOntrager rims LIke Duster were horrendous, you had to use your feet & stomp the tyre out of the roove.

    • @RideEatWander
      @RideEatWander  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes this bike needs a stiff fork to be ridden hard especially if you are north of 200 which I am. I have recently switched to Galfer brake pads and really like them. No noise that I have noticed and good bite and power.
