    These two young ladies showed Empathy & Humility. Their parents taught them right in my opinion.
    Being a humble person wins over being proud.

    Class is an understatement. You ladies are amazing. A true inspiration. Some things are more important than a win or a loss. To help the opposition in a situation like that, where you could have sit there and done nothing and won the game. Amazing, I don't know what else to say.

    My son went to Central on a ROTC scholarship, he went on to serve as a Special Forces Officer in Iraq & Afghanistan, ending his service with life changing, and military ending, injuries. He will be the first to tell you that Honor, Service, & Sacrifice, as taught by those at Central, remain at the core of his life values. May all of those featured in this video be blessed.

    I was touched & in aww one of the greatest sportmenship examples ever glad the rules were changed after this as well. Hard to believe this was 15 years ago good granny time has flown I was thinking it was only like 5 years ago but 15 mannnnn.. These three should be celebrities & super stars not the cowards like Lebron or never were soccer players with pink hair making thousands if not millions of dollars yet complaining & saying evil things about the people & country that allows them to do that & make such money. I doubt either pink hair or lebron would be making millions playing sports in russia or China or anywhere else really yet they love trying to bash the country & fans that allow that freedom for people to make money playing sports.

    when they could have done nothing, and taken sporting advantage of this girl's misfortune, they instead did the noble, humane thing - yes, they do restore my faith in the human race - it may have been a simple act in a nondescript baseball game, but it was life affirming and heroic at the same time..

    This whole thing is a huge fantasy. This would never ever happen in a pro or college game - the paramedics would come out and pick up the injured athlete and then a pinch runner could be implemented. No way in hell would members of the opposite team get all happy assed and carry a player from the opposite team due to an injury or homosexual tendencies or whatever! Cheers!!!!!!

    Just so people know Assisting The Runner is a live ball play. A homerun is a dead ball. There is not an assisting the runner possibly on this play.

  • @thankyouforthevenom4734

    threeby8887 Her teammates weren't allowed to carry her around the bases. If they did, she would have been out. Also if she had a sub runner it would have only been a single.

    • @1981lashlarue
      @1981lashlarue 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually it was later determined that the umpires misinterpreted the rule. They could have substituted a runner since she was injured rounding the bases and it would have still counted as a homerun. This way, at least she got to do it herself thanks to the sportsmanship from her opponents. Regardless of the rule misinterpretation, it doesn't take away from the humanity in the story.

    Sportsmanship like this does not conflict with wanting to win the game. The two runners she batted in were in. It cost one run (final score 4-2) and Central could have won in other innings and at other moments and I trusts they fully intended to do so. Letting an injury prevent a home run seems an unlikely rule - the person who said they got the rule wrong on that is hopefully correct. If not, that rule needs to be changed. With an over-the-fence home run a pinch runner adds no advantage.

    @ycdtotv - How anyone could take a negative view on this is just mind-boggling. But to then go further, call it pathetic, non-sportsmanship, and call these ladies traitors and COWARDS leads me to believe that you don't understand of the meaning of those words. Yes, this is a sport, but sports are PART of life, and life is NOT a game. Life doesn't come to a standstill because of a softball game. You need to reexamine your values. That's the nature of character, you either have it - or YOU don't.

    softball is different from baseball i don't get how if her teammates were to touch her she would be out, because in the major leagues, when a person hits a home run, they give high fives to the 1st and 3rd base coaches and that's perfectly legal.

    I've watched a few different clips about this story, and I sort of get the feeling Sara is a bit full of herself. In other clips she goes on about this moment "helping" to achieve her "goal" and how hard it was to end her "career," without much expression of thanks to the assisting players. She's a bit nicer here since the interviewer sort of steers her to say it.
    Doing something for someone even without being fully appreciated makes what these girls did seem even more significant to me.
