It's too bad not everyone likes the classic country. Sadly we lost several great artists that paved the way for the new generation. Today's country music sounds like a mixture of rock & hip / hop or rap
exactly .. i quit listenin to current day country bout 10 year ago and now just listen to my cd collection of country from 80s til bout 2010 . hank jr , willie , waylon , milsap , travis , strait , adkins , brook n dunn , yearwood , sara evan , rascal fats , etc
Is it just me or is Lane Brody one of the most beautiful women on the planet? Pretty good singing voice too. I could watch this video 100 times. Actually, I have.
aint watched tv since 1994 once globalist / leftist started wreckin america so never seen miss brody before and was amazed what a great voice , n lookin . i was thinkin she look like dolly alot
When my wife of 40 years passed away Lane and Johnny sang quietly. You sang probably ten times at her celebration of life. When I lowered her ashes the last Two songs were DIXIE and THE YELLOW ROSE OF TEXAS. Beautiful life Beautiful song
Just sent this to my darling, cousin and Goddaughter who is just home from the hospital in Portland, Oregon. Born and raised in Galveston and Nonie loved the song. Thank you! (Sent her yellow roses, as well from her, native, New Yorker cousin.). All good!
Oh, my. Lane gave me chills when she opened her mouth. Johnny was so right at the end when he said she sounds just the same. And he showed during the bridge he can still bring the quips I remember from his concerts. A genuine gentleman loving what he does.
They do a terrific job singing that song. Lane Brody projects a happy and lively image. Plus she's awful easy on the eyes. Beautiful woman. Johnny Lee and her make a great duet. Voices go together very well.
I don't usually comment on music unless i hear something that i think is special. This was one of my fav songs back when J.L. & L.B. first recorded it. To say they still sound better live than on the recording, i don't think is going too far. Their voices are a perfect blend. Finding this version and hearing this song again made my ears smile.
Thanks for sharing, this is awesome! I'm so blessed to be a Daughter of the Republic of Texas and United Daughter of the Confederacy. My family is very patriotic and most are members of the military or law enforcement. ♥
+Cindy Rizzato I am confused on the Confederacy Ma'am (wasnt listening in History class I'm sure) personaly i am NOT a CW fan (although i do occ like a country song loved Patsy,k.d. lang,Dolly) but I remember "Lookin For Love" back in 1980 and did buy the single (i amusually a r&b soul music fan of female vocalists in ALL genres its the females) but Mr.Lee sold me on that song (I especially loved the female backing vocals.) Thank You DM (Pgh,PA.)
I met Ms. Lane Brody some years ago. She is as beautiful inside as well as outside. Down to earth. I have stayed in touch with her through the years. She is now doing different gigs in and around Tx and Ok.
What a beautiful song it brings tears to my eyes singing along with it. My grandpa just loved it when I sung it to him when I was a little boy. I also have copies of this song on an 8 track and a 45 record
I had the pleasure of meeting Johnny Lee at the county fair this weekend and he is a sweet approachable person. So very friendly and sweet. I asked him for a guitar pic for my daughter and he gladly gave her one after the song. He also took pics with us, hugged him and he's just an awesome man. His daughter sang this with him, Cherish Lee and she's as nice as he is. He put on a great concert and very sweet. Love u Johnny!!
I wish theyd do a segment with this setup for the award shows....would be good having a medley including this tune with as many of the legends sitting around the stage.
Lane Brody never got the attention she deserved. I equate her with Emmylou Harris and Patty Loveless. Her voice is exquisite, but you rarely hear her on country radio. There are very few albums I own where I like every single cut, but Lane's self-titled album is in that category. "Baby's Eyes" and "Stay With Me" knock the socks off of anything that Taylor Swift or Shania Twain have ever done.
You didn't raise the bar to high saying she's better than TS or ST, but comparing her voice to Emmylou & Patty does. I'll throw in Dolly who at least in this songs sounds a bit like.
I honestly had never heard of Lane Brody until she came into my restaurant with Eddie Bayers and I talked to them for a little bit just yesterday. They are very nice people and very big health nuts, lol. They both are a very cute couple. Then they told me they used to big pretty big and country-jazz music. He is a great drummer and used to play for big names like Garth Brooks, Peter Frampton, and Bob Seger. They told me a little about themselves then of course I had to look them up. Pretty cool. Eddie was diagnosed with diabetes and she helped get him beat it within 3 months! She would let him have any of our apple pie ;-)
Neat story. Always like to hear how people come across when they're just being themselves. From her on screen/on stage persona she just looks like she'd be a fun person to hang with.
Fannnnntastic! I been doing this song for a hunnert years but Y'all done it up brown and round! Now I gotta go learn it right. Thanks. ...dw (old tx boy)

Good video & thanks for posting ~ brings back many fond memories of the 'baby boomer' generation of the 50's & 60's when this song received much airplay on the AM radio stations long before FM radio was introduced~!
Hairs on the back of the neck. I revisit these shows regularly but as time marches forward the greats are passing away .We no longer have Roy Clarke , Lynn Anderson and Charley Pride to name a few. Fortunately we have the records and they will live on through their songs. The golden age will never be repeated. In the 21st Century we have the likes of Marty Stuart and Kenny Vaughn to keep the flame alive.
there's a good reason this song has over a million views.....not a greater state than Texas.....and i'm from NJ....but who cannot love that big lone star state!!!!

Here we have REAL performers, singing REAL country music. I’m so glad I grew up listening to these people instead of what they call country music now
Amen!
New county sucks
I love how Lane looks up, eyes wide open, her voice is still clear and beautiful. It's a shame she didn't get more recognition.

Real American folk music! Only if we were all from Texas.
My Big Daddy (step dad) used to play this for my mama. I miss him every day.

Wow her voice is so much better in this recording than back in the day when that song was a hit.
Howdy This is Just so good , real nice to watch . Thank you Mike
Lane Brody sounds BETTER than ever......I'm floored......Beautiful too......I loved this VID
And, ... if I'd not seen her, I'd swear that was Dolly Parton's voice. Lovely, just lovely.
She is STILL gorgeous!!!!
She woyld still get fucked today , gorgeous still
If I had Lane Brody as my yellow rose I would never leave Texas

Damn right you are. They should have collaborated on a full album.
They sang this song for the Tv Series Yellowrose of Texas with Sam Elliott in it. Back in the Late 70’s-early 80’s. Loved it
Die beste Version, die ich bisher gehört und gesehen habe.
