I ended up doing lights out fro 3 days and added a UV unit. I have not had it come back since (knock on wood0! Also had to gradually raise my nitrates and phosphates. Hope this helps!
Dinoflagellates is a type of phytoplankton. When I got it. I stoped water changes. Let tank get somewhat dirty. Letting other algae try to grow and out competent. Purchased copepods and Ocean Magik put them in my tank. Doses the Ocean Macik phytoplankton at twice the recommended dose each day and in 3 weeks time it was gone. Biggest thing I think is repopulating my tank with multiple organisms to set things back in balance.

What type of dinos did you have? All Dinos don’t respond to this treatment so it’s a bit unhelpful that you didn’t offer probably the single most important piece of information
yes totally understand where you are coming from. I ca't remember they type now.. was a while ago. Will keep that in mind if/when I have another breakout.
How did it work? I just bought some I’ve had it up to hear with Dino! Please let me know if it worked?
It worked but I think the nail in the coffin for the dinos was adding the uv sterilizer as well.
How did you finally cure the dino....I cant seem to get rid of mine and was thinking of using Dino X
