Eliminate the current draw factor when winching, by eliminating the electric winch. It is a Land Rover Defender and can accept a PTO winch, which can be set up by yourself - worse case scenario is, may have to source some parts from UK. Generally, the PTO parts you need are in OZ, due to the amount of ex-army units around.
That's a really expensive battery for a few kg saving. I recently researched lots of batteries and ended up with AC Delco hybrid. See how it goes but excellent value for money. Posts and bolt connection, 22kg for 80 ah and 800cca
They don't 'need it' either mate. They're getting it, if not for free, then heavily discounted from sponsors. The sponsors get their product advertised and the blokes running the channels get cool products that they'd unlikely spend their own money on at full price, for next to nothing.
How does charging the lithium battery work from the alternator, any issues? Also those sunvirosr look great, was thinking of doing a similar thing but couldn't find anyone who had done it to their defender. Have you got any info on them? Cheers
No problem charging straight off the Alt. The sunvisor is 4mm tinted perspex, used the original visor mounting, so much better for higher seats/tall people.

Everything is so weird these days, we never needed all this stuff back in the day.

Atleast a lot of the channels attempt subversive product placement. These blokes just run it explicitly. Whole videos dedicated to it.
Yeah good point mate, let’s never move forward with newer and more advance equipment let’s just stay exactly how we were years ago!
@@Ben-pm7rr '' newer and more advance equipment'' you sound like a salesman for 4x4 accessories.

@@SIDETRACKED Cheers mate!
Great! Skillful aren't you all...hmmm!
Good stuff man, how much weight did yall save?
Saved about 10kg. But I've gained so much more.. more capacity, more cranking, more user friendly.
What alternator have you got in the Defender
i run two optima under there🤷 😕 cost too much. anybody running cat batteries in their landy?
Used to run Cat batteries in my Disco2. Very happy with them. Price is great if you know someone who works for Cat.
Nice but you didnt research very well. There is a battery with better specs, Australian designed and cheaper.
@Barry No longer available. DCS has better specs and also rated for not only 80c+ temps but -20c snow too
