    Hello Karina. I just want to thank you for being modest. Most people have no modesty. I think it has nothing to do with age. You can be beautiful and be modest. Good men prefer that I believe. You do so much with limited resources in some ways. You do a beautiful job on everything. Even mistakes are beautiful because it’s a chance to learn. I don’t see you making them though. Thank you for the integrity that you show. Be blessed. Elizabeth

    Love the purple. Agree with you on hanging clothes on the line. Nothing better than taking them in dry and fresh and costing nothing!

      Exactly. I’d had one all my life before. In Chile they are a must, it’s too cold and clothes will never dry, but here... it’s hot even now in winter and I couldn’t justify having one.

    Great idea about pockets right side to show inside the skirt.

    Lovely! I think if you use a good iron on interfacing on your waistband, maybe the grain isn't quite as important. As you say, know your risks and go for it if you want! You are a magician with small pieces of fabric ... a magician! That outfit with the capelet is just gorgeous and the skirt will indeed be a classic! Love your happy town. 💚💚💚

      I try to avoid interfacing on waistbands if the fabric is structured because they feel stiff and dig into my tummy. The fashion industry places waistbands on the crossgrain all the time. It saves fabric like that. Jeans are notoriously done like that 😳.

      @@LiftingPinsandNeedles Very good point! With a more structured fabric, an interfaced waistband could feel like a steel belt when you sat down haha. 😻😻😻

    Hi Karina. I have never tried PDF patterns, but you have inspired me to do so. My first pattern I downloaded was the ninja pants, think Ill start with that as an intro to using PDF patterns before I tackle this skirt. I have had a pretty denim in my stash that I bought for my daughter, who is now a teenager and doesn't like the color anymore. When I saw this video I knew it would look great with this pattern. I am very exited to try it . I love your style and have learned so much looking at your videos. Thank you for an excellent channel!

      These patterns are not huge files and it’s not many pages to put together. They are instructed well in the instructions too. It’s a whole new world in pdf patterns :)
      It’s my only option living in Brazil.

    I love that purple! You achieved such a great fit! And what a genius idea to make a denim skirt as a way to work up to making jeans or trousers! I am so excited about this idea! Thank you, as always! 💜

      They are super similar and I think it’s those features that are most intimidating for jeans :)
      Thank you so much for watching.

    OH love it! This shirt is lovely! Purple is my favorite color! Just beautiful! Karina would you please consider doing a video showing us how you lay out your patterns and cut your fabric. Because deciding whether you can or can't cut something on grain is SOOO confusing. I KNOW you "shouldn't" but can you if you need to to make you garment work?🤔 Like you had to in this video. Thx💜💜

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn’t recommend cutting pieces cross grain. I did this exception knowing my risks and aided by the fact that I don’t use a dryer for my clothes. Patterns usually have a layout and I’m liberal about that, while respecting the grainlines :)

    I love this skirt. I usually line my waistband with a lighter fabric anyway to reduce bulk.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For curved waistbands that have an inner piece I do the same. This time it worked very well to be softer on the skin and make the waistband with less :)

    What a great looking skirt!
    I am getting ready to prep (coca cola) wash my heavy weight non stretch denim. I'm thinking I'll make a skirt first before the Eddystone Jeans!! Can't wait to try the reverse waistband. That's such a great idea!!

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I didn’t :)
      The cotton is structured and I don’t like having stiff waistbands digging into my tummy.

    Karina, have you made any patterns from this company - www.create-everyday.com/collections/all? They have some very interesting ways of presenting patterns.
