21:35 for the Danaher breakage
Legend
Woody Harrelson seems like such a chilled guy since he grew a moustache and started to grapple.
Gunnar Nelson occasionally slipping into an Icelandic Irish accent is so funny
Gunnar is a LEGEND! so stoked to see him on here. Great stories
He sounds like the nicest person imagineable.
@@GKJusticar55I met him. Sweetest dude
Craig is 2 years younger than me but looks like he could be my alcoholic uncle.
You must have a jacked, athletic alcoholic uncle. Mine is 300 pounds and couldn’t even squat down
The price you pay for the secret juice.
Yea one year younger than I, I’m counting my blessings
How do you know he isn't? Maybe not yours specifically but someone else's.
@@mrt445 thats a good question.
Gunnar, what a dude, the accent, the stories, the energy. Thanks el Segundo, keep'em coming.
That accent got me tripping. It sounds southern red neck, Irish, English, a little new Yorker ...it the most confusing accent I've came across lol!
As I was posting, I just heard a little Brooklyn Goodfellaz
This one was great! You should try to teach the simple man podcast how to do an interview.
First time seeing Gunnar smile 😮
As a hardcore mma fan who found jiu jitsu through mma, Gunny has always been a favorite of mine.
Alina Delgado??
Gunnar looks like a massive Jeff Glover these days.
😂
Thanks so much for this Craig! Such a big fan of you both
Been a fan of Gunnar for years, psyched to get a podcast with him that I can barely hear bc it’s so quiet.
Probably the best episode so far.
Brought back a lot of old memories. That segment about John had me cracking up
Great to see the team sold all their furniture to invest in some quality mics. That’s the B-Team way. OSS.
Nice content. One of my favorite fighters to watch with his karate style and jiu jitsu.
Dude, is it me, or doesn't the irish accent surfaces a couple of times while he is talking? Respect, dudes a legend.
This was imho the best episode so far ❤
It needs more audio issues to be in contention imho!
Gunnar has a deadpan sense of humour that goes well with Craig's own
John Danaher is a menace 😂
When is the danaher discussion
@@jamesonsvideos91920:25 I believe
My absolute favorite episode!
Glad to see the studio is coming along
El Segundo fast becoming one of my favourite pods!!
Gunni seems like such a great dude
What a guest 👌
That s the first time I listen to a podcast with him, I love his mentality
Craig 'Turtle" Jones, Australia's Number 1 podcaster and Australia's second favourite son behind Alexander Volkanovski.
Second again?
I shouldnt be laughing but man that danaher arm break story had me with tears in my eyes, sounds like a fuckin movie scene haha. Jonn cool as a cucumber hahahaha
So many stories like that. JD is dangerous
Such a great conversation. We need more Gunni in our lives!
This was great!
Gunnar said sometimes we’d slack off go smoke and go cliff jumping..Craig said Thats a BJ Penn training camp right…had me dying 😂😂
It's always great to see two gentlemen sitting there, talking, not afraid to show their balls of steel
Love this pod
This was dope!
Great, loved it.
Excellent discussion. Take this like. Subscribed
Classic Craig audio
Funny thing is this is the best it’s been imo lol.
Gunner tells great stories! 😮
First time I've seen Craig be serious in years.
And I like that. It’s good that he can put humor aside for second and just have a chat with a guy like Nelson. Awesome episode
@@dvm9795 he's probably afraid of getting smacked around if he's not on good behavior.
Its good for a point of reference:) to establish a baseline.
What is more weird, I think I saw Gunnar half-smile 😮
Get Gordon on the podcast lmao
this would unhinged but fucking awesome lmao... maybe in an alternate universe where they finally make up
There would be shit on the ball
I really enjoyed listening to Gunnar, I’ve watched all his UFC fights and he never talked shit and in this you get to see him on a personal level
Such an epic adcc story
Imagine, that dude got his arm broken by Danaher in that private lesson *that he paid for*.
I was at Renzo's 112 West 27th street NYC academy and took the elevator ride from hell to the floor it was on (3rd, 5th, I can't remember) with Craig Kukuk for my first class. That class turned out to be Kukuk's last--they said he was going out for back surgery, but I later heard other stories--and from then on classes were taught by Matt and Nick Serra, and by Vinny and Mito (I think that's how to spell his name--it was pronounced "me toe"). Renzo stopped in occasionally on Saturdays, which was the no-gi day and the only day I could train there since I lived in Rhode Island and drove the six-plus hour round trip to make it. I remember rolling with him when he was preparing to fight Oleg Taktarov. Those were some fun times, and were the times when knowing BJJ felt like a real superpower because so few people knew it. For instance, I had a friend who was a state wrestling champ in RI, and he used to dominate me on the ground, but after a couple of months of training I would submit him all the time.
Keep it coming. Great episode.
I like these interviews.
Great pos cast 🔥
They do not make m as cool as Gunnar much anymore.
great stories
Danaher breaks arm part @21:40
Fuck I’m going to Iceland in two days and I only rolled twice in my life. I’d really love to stop by Mjolnir but I’d probably get my limbs broken.
I rolled there as a white belt, they're nice and open to travelers, although the lesson wasn't in english
I stopped by as a purple belt recently. You should totally go. Really friendly atmosphere
Definitely stop by. Amazing facility, vibe, and coaches.
Do it man, Icelandic people are friendly overall I'm sure you will be welcomed
This was excellent thank you .
Listed to this during my gym session.
OSSS🤙🤙🤙
Really hope you don’t pull this episode so you can edit out the part talking about where Danaher does something crazy, only to repost the edited episode.
RIP Karl Tanswell. Man is an OG
Cool to hear little bits of Irish accent coming through
I love hearing the Dublin accent come through on some words
Gunnar is such a classy human.
Need higher volume
Gunnar!!!!
John sounds like a true Autist LOL I can picture him getting impatient in line somewhere and just breaking 17 peoples necks with the classic movie Osotoheadtwistgatami then ordering his meal like nothing happened.
you guys really need to improve the audio.
That Icelandic - Irish accent is beautiful
crazy ADCC story
Craig Jones our new Ali G!
I can see now why Craig isn't part of simple man podcast. Those guys can't let a conversation develop, constant interruptions just killing the flow.
How will Danaher and Gordon feel about Gunnar appearing in this podcast?
great slavic squat tribute
I think you forgot to put this one on the el segundo playlist on your channel
Great conversation ! I got a staff infection just from watching!
Why not have this in the podcast section?
finally.. a decent co
Demian won ADCC in ‘07.
craig where the hell do you get these sweaters
what is the pitspot position from closed guard
he kinda described it there. I think its when you get that high guard and have one calf over the shoulder and trapping their bicep... maybe like "the pitstop on the way to a triangle" (I'm guessing...)
47:11 Lol The reaction most of us have
Danaher seems like someone who could use some therapy
Mjølnir or however thats spelled is Thors Hammer isnt it ?
Time stamp for arm break chat?
@23:00 I died laughing at that story!!!
Someone needs to animate the Danaher arm break story.
Gunnar seems like a nice construction guy who eneded up in this sport
Also - get Ryan hall on the podcast? (being for real)
Craig Jones reminds me of this human being from Planet earth that I know.
anyone know the shirt Gunnar is wearing?
Gunnar looks like Chuck Liddell's love child these days!
Craig, can i make a suggestion? How hard would it be for you bteam and new wave guys to just burry the hatchet? Or at least try to be civil to each other? I would just love to see John and Gordon in your podcasts talking about everything. You were a team after all.
It’ll probably never happen anywhere in the near future. Maybe when they’re all older men in their 50s. For now, so long as they are young and able for competition, they’ll be at each others throats 😂
Seeing as the matter was personal between Nicky and Gordon I don't think they'd bury the hatchet just like that
@@greySESH Yeah among the two of them is a different story. Gord and Craig or Gord and Nicky Rod seem like they could bury it though down the line
What? No! Craig os too funny making fun of Gordon. I wish it caught mainstream media's eyes.
This guy looks like Jeff Glover's big brother haha
Craig looks like he has had a lot of nose beers lately 🤣
Gunnar look like really jacked Woody Harrelson
21:38 John breaking arm
Gunny!
At very beginning I thought it was Jeff Glover’s dad
Demian’s wrestling coach is Kody Hamrah
Gunnar makes it funnar
im sure after sitting in that position for over an hour has their hips unlocking the 8th dimension 💠
one leg 2cm shorter than the other, that tripod bulging out of his pants in the middle tho
Not sure if Craig just broke Maia v Pierre but I’m jacked to hear about that
No, it was announced like 2 weeks ago
@@davidoconnor1773 ah good to know I’m just an idiot. Great event hopefully regardless.
Geoff Glover got big
Mike Jones!!
Two legends! Not trying to sound funny but you can clearly tell that Craig is a trans woman on gear.
Can you be a well-rounded black belt in 4 years? I'm talking gi, no-gi, mma & self-defense with the ability to teach.
Yes some can but guys like Gunny are phenoms. He's also spending all day on the mat, living and breathing the art. I've seen guys get black belts in 4 years but it's really all they do, they didn't have a job their parents had money and they were completely obsessed
I'd say yes to everything except mma. Grappling in the mma context is an entirely different sport even if you don't focus on the striking.
