- The Stirling engine is also known as a hot air engine. It is a type of heat engine with an external combustion engine. The heat exchange process allows the conversion of heat into mechanical motion to be close to ideal efficiency. (With the practical application of the Carnot cycle)
It was invented in 1816 by the Scottish priest the Reverend Robert Stirling. His brother James Stirling, who later became an engineer, continued the development of the engine. The inventors envisioned creating a reliable alternative to the steam engines of the time. Steam engine boilers frequently exploded due to insufficient use of materials and high steam pressure. Stirling engines would directly convert the temperature difference into motion.

I maybe missing something, but how does this work without a power piston?
the evaporation of the aluminium push the piston up, and the fresh water, remove the air from the chamber, so the piston can get down , and the cycle continue

I wondered that for a few seconds as well. Also, there appears to be no regenerator at first glance. My theory is that the two can bottoms attached to the foam move independently because the foam is compressible and the foam acts as the regenerator. I may build one of these to see if it works.
In case that wasn't clear, one of the can bottoms may be acting as the power piston while the other one acts as the displacer piston and the foam itself is compressed and uncompressed with every cycle, thus acting as the regenerator.
For shure there is 4 cans needed 😊 1 for bufor, 2 bottoms for piston, and 1 for cap. Really 4!

Without a power piston, that foam displacer has equal pressure on both sides so it will not act as a power piston and a displacer at the same time. It is fake.

If there is no hidden trick, we are in the presence of the first Carnot engine in the world. The architecture does not have a displacer nor regenerator, so it is not a Stiling engine. Understand that if this device works, its energy efficiency is very low. Note that the theoretical maximum efficiency of the Carnot engine assumes that the power is zero. The efficiency at maximum power is calculated according to the Curzon & Ahlborn formula.

The craftmanship is good. Physics is wrong. This can't work this way. If you want to know why: It needs at least 1 extra piston and more reasons you can find on any website about a working stirling engine..
He prolly spent more time faking it than it would have took to actuallu build it right. LOL

Ok yes i can see how it works but i would not call it Sterling engine. Sterling engines have a piston that pushed a flywheel while the flywheel pushes the displacer up and down.

Of course,sponge will not last longer because of the heat,and the trouble is you have to produce flame which more expensive,than just produce a 5volts charger for that small fan,when you invent,see to it if it's more economical or,or no more expense than just motivation.
I get why the piston goes up but what makes it go down,

The air that gets cooled down when it expands while the pistons is going up.

The disk acts as a flywheel and its momentum causes the wire to rotate. Due to its shape, that wire then causes the piston to go down. This feature is a normal part of Stirling engines. I'm not guessing.

This is absolutely not going to work. It only has a displacer piston and you need a power piston as well, There is no way this will ever work. Besides, the sponge and the wood is going to melt at some point.

I couldn't understand HOW he can easily remove the inner part/lid by simply scratching the outside of the soda can (which is really bad, by the way, due to the excess sugar, no one reports it, because "it" advertises it...).
