what was your base mag though on your testing? edit: after testing I am fairly certain, it counts every direct impact shot as 2 hits towards Deconstruct activation. According to Data compendium, Deconstruct needs 50% of the mag + 2 bullets (rounded down). Whether you have Chill clip or not (tested with Deconstruct/Frenzy and Deconstruct/Chill Clip), with a mag of 12 to 15 you need 4 direct impacts (so 8 hits in total) to activate Deconstruct. The math doesn't really check out here, since a mag of 14 to 15 would require 9 hits but it still requires the same amount of hits. Honestly, if you don't have a good Chill Clip gun yet, playing a bunch of Iron Banner to try and get a good Tinasha's Mastery will also get you a bunch of Crucible engrams to roll on Riptide with. It's a two-for-one opportunity.
I do have a deconstruct and chill clip one ready with me and will play when i feel like it but i cant deny how much i love the overflow + chill clip glaive and wont be putting it away happily
I appreciate Datto’s equivocation here, and similarly, his anti-FOMO attitude. That said… I think he’s maybe still got his “elitist” cap affixed to his head, from yesterday’s (excellent) video. This sidearm is *absolutely* worth getting; hands down. It should be noted that it’s the first rocket sidearm that’s available to F2P Guardians. The current seasonal artifact has a lot of Stasis synergy. And while Datto (as an expert player) undoubtedly has no difficulty safely getting into Fusion Rifle range versus high-level combatants, less-experienced players will undoubtedly benefit from the ranged nature of rocket-sidearm shots. I also see some complaints in the community about the 3-shot requirement to Freeze a combatant. I think people need to understand that Freeze (in general gameplay) is just icing on the cake. The most important PvE Stasis application is Slow, which can be applied in ONE shot of Chill Clip.
Great comment! I think these sidearms do more than enough damage and are primarily ad clear. Rocket sidearms are some of the strongest weapons in the whole game
Destiny has always been a game where removing the enemy off the board has always been the more optimal way to deal with something. True conventional crowd control in this game doesn't entirely translate pound for pound to a more traditional RPG experience. Sure stuff like Chill Clip, Bleakwatchers definitely have use and are nice especially with the anti-champion property, but it's background stuff to a larger picture, you really don't need to make a science project out of something with just the momentum of the game and how most engagements go. It's the same story why dedicated healing tapers off to an extent because there's more value in having somebody dishing out a lot more raw damage or how the whole "taunt with a barricade" is a complete joke.
@@thealldayspecial I don’t think you’re wrong or off-base in your comment. That said, dealing damage AND inflicting a debuff (Slow) simultaneously is a legitimately good play, especially as enemy difficulty and enemy density scale-up. I don’t think this Stasis sidearm is a “must-have”… but that’s honestly true about any weapon in D2. It’s a really good weapon; I think most players will benefit from having one.
A few other Iron Banner guns this season have alternate origin perks, only the ones that are reskins of other foundry's weapons (Multimach yes, Riiswalker no). Tinasha's Mastery is a reskin, but I'm pretty sure it's of the Europa sidearm, which came out before origin perks. Maybe if they ever reissue the Europa guns, this'll get another origin perk, but I'm not holding my breath on either of those things happening.
This chill clip weapon is a keeper for me as a prismatic hunter running spirit of Gyrfalcon. One shot on an ad can proc stylish executioner and give me volatile rounds. I can run a void primary with a better perk than destabilizing, and combined with my abilities still have infinite volatile uptime
Got 10 or so copies of this gun, got 2 chill clip rolls, 1st was reverberation, second was loose change, scrapped the reverb and have been quite happy with the loose change roll
THIS. It's not that the Glaive is fundamentally bad. It's that it's HORRIBLE for build crafting because it's melee attack takes on none of the melee affecting mods and no melee perk or fragment even pairs well with it. Close to Melee is literally the only perk that I believe affects it's melee. If they just allowed you to either synergize those mods/perks or reworked Glaives and gave them their own "powered melee" to work with build crafting or made it so you could use your powered melee even with a Glaive equipped? That would give them a larger use case.
so my first roll was reverberation and adagio. i didn’t know how to feel about it, until i started using it. and i must say, the ad clear potential on this thing is actually incredible. i’ve been pairing it with arc abilities/weapons to take care of champions (the artifact helps immensely with this) and have really been enjoying it. and i have offhand strike/chill clip in the vault for if i need it.
Surprised I haven't seen it mentioned more, but Icebreaker with Tinasha with Chill Clip is insane if you have the Catalyst for IB. You have a LOT more ammo with IB if you shoot a target once with Tina, then swap to IB. You can get about three shots in before the slowed debuff goes away.
Tac Mag secretly increases reserves, Enlightened Action is worse than the other reload perks because you won't get high stacks with Chill Clip, and Surrounded is bugged so it won't give you the expected damage bonus.
I'd also recommend trying Reverberation Frenzy. It's not a boss melter by any means but it's superb as cleaning out ads that are around bigger targets. A couple minors hanging around a major will get demolished as you plink away the big one.
Reconsider trying out a deconstruct roll if you get one. I got deconstruct + chill clip and it was returning ammo to the mag so often the functional mag size must've been at least doubled. Needs more testing but I beleive hitting multiple enemies with a shot's explosion can retrun ammo faster. Running through encounters in vesper's host (much of which is pretty ad dense) I noted ammo getting reloaded every 2-4 shots. Most the time it was 3 shots and it reloads 2 shots. Very easy to keep above 50% capacity and keep firing chill clip shots.
I personally prefer rake angle as my chill clip use. Freezes in 2 shots, shoots faster than riptide and has the benefit of being able to tank an absurd amount of damage with a glaive. If you are using a pick for utility, why not have multiple funtions?
Iron Banner is my first dip into PvP this episode and I've been enjoying it. Got a solid roll on Tinasha's but I'm planning on sticking it out for the armor. Think it looks solid, and I'm looking forward to putting together some Titan drip between the IB armor and the AC armor they've made available for bright dust. I play for the fashion endgame.
Man, do people really hate IB that much? Awesome new weapon and awesome new armor set, plus it's the Control variant, and the 3 new maps added in Into the Light seem to be heavily featured, and people are hating? I've been having a good time (and cruising through Pathfinders, by the way).
I actually like iron banner. More people are in the 6v6 playlist during the event. I actually hate control more if anything at all. In control people just go for kill farming instead of objective so it just leads to annoying team shooting so i just end up staying in competitive to avoid it
Trust me keep deconstruct and chill clip if you get, its actually amazing, it just auto reloads it as you're shooting a target. Used it in the dungeon and felt like i didnt have to reload that much.
I would insert my claim that there is also Critical Anomaly (sniper rifle with chill clip) but I also recognize that the gun is considered raid loot (and from one of if not the hardest raid) and therefore not widely available to the vast majority of the community
Desperate Measures literally compliments the sandbox playstyle of ability spam. Literally, if 1 of your melees or grenades kill 2 enemies, you get instant 3 stacks. After that any kill with a weapon or abilities keeps it going. Doesn't really require work since you will be doing those things anyway. I'm not saying it's "better," but it synergizes with builds much better than most damage perks.
I wasn't *too* excited to hunt this outside of Chil Clip until you mentioned Bait and Switch. It might be worse than I'm thinking it will be but using it with Enightened Action/Impulse Amp on a HazProp Titan build could actually go very hard for extended DPS phases.
i got a suspectum-4fr with arrowhead break, ionized battery, envious assassin, chill clip, and a backup mag mod. fully enhanced of course. 21 rounds when envious is fully proced and every round above 2 has chillclip and with 2 shots of chillclip you stun unstoppables. i love it. plus with arrowhead bread recoil is a 97 with a straight line. i love it and i never use snipers or linear fusion rifles.
Definitely a go to for me so I can replace liturgy with chillclip for a more reliable and easy way to apply slow without needing stasis or another person in damage rotations
I'm just a bit sick of using Deliverance solely for stunning champs at this point. So getting more Chill Clip weapons will always be a reason for me to smile.
I see chill clip on a rocket sidearm, idc about anything else, I keep it. Don't care about ammo (cause special finisher exists), good aoe freeze, decent damage and free champion stuns. That's enough for me
I may be crazy, but unlike a lot of players I dont use rocket sidearms as a main weapon, I use it when I need it like most special weapons, so ammo is never an issue for me, so I gladly took my loose change + chill clip roll
10:12 "maybe you feel more strongly about your weapon selection than i do, in that case, use your best judgment" But that gun doesn't have chill clip 😂
Lol dang. Usually with new weapons I just stock pile the first 10 I get in my vault, then research what one or two I will keep! Best of luck getting it again.
they should give the origin perk the same effect in PVE, like if chaff is on and you get a kill you get your radar back for a few seconds. not big deal but better than literally no origin perk like its a collection weapon
Its not that hard to get, it's the first weapon to unlock. Just play like 3-5 games of Iron Banner, you will unlock it, earn some engrams along the way, & then you get a few submitting engrams to get your roll you want. I got my god roll in about an hour. It's not like grinding in trials, easy cop!
I'm only getting it for 2 reasons: 1, I can't help gilding seals, even if I hate the activity. Somethings wrong with me. And 2. I want am easy way to apply a stasis/darkness debuff from a distance for potential use with future artifact modes. Currently using Liturgy while we have the GL perks. But honestly, even then I may just keep using it since chill clip and disorienting is massive on crowd control. Just gotta learn how to aim.
TBH I've been running deconstruct on Indebted with impulse since I got the roll. Even if you don't benefit from the bonus damage, it refills the magazine pretty quickly, and probably will even faster when enhanced and factoring in the AOE damage from chill clip.
hot take: glaives are better than rocket sidearms in 90% of scenarios. they are basically rocket sidearms but with a built in melee and a massive DR shield.
Im cool with grinding for it. I put on ourbreak or jade rabbit with the new shotgun on titan and call it a day. Idk how many matches i've won but iron banner feels pretty chill rn.
i have heard that decon works great with chill clip as frozen enemies counts as contructs so you do more damage and it autoreloads in the 3rd shoot, if you want a more active rool impulse or air is the better choice, but for a full on chillclip build it could be very good, shoud work the same as aurvandil with recon or riptide with autoloading, in the glaive i hope to get an overflow chill so i dont have to reload it, personaly ima be happy with the 1rst one that has chillclip at all and call it a day, the least i play pvp the better lol
Tinasha's Mastery is ironically a jack of all niches, master of none. It might be a massive cope gun but there's several good rolls one can get worth keeping! You don't need Chill Clip to make it worth your time. If you really have nothing on the meta guns throughout the past 2 years, don't touch raids or got bad dungeon luck, then this gun is a bit of a blessing. -Surrounded is a damage boost that is competitive with meta fusion rifles and can be a real workhorse. In some raids you will be surrounded during damage phase. Imagine having 30+ Fusion Rilfe shots availible in some of your rotations. But also general play. Nobody intends to be surrounded but it happens a lot anyway. -Deconstruct is a niche damage perk but it is still a damage perk. 40% more damage against vehicles. Servitors and Brigs count as vehicles by the game's logic beyond the more obvious things. But the perk also covers shriekers, vex cyclops , taken blights, scorn totems, taken eyes and many other things as a vehicle or construct. None are particularly hard to deal with in normal content but if you want this to be your endgame pocket rocket, you'll appreciate having something that can destroy such annoyances quickly and quiet frankly, there's a lot of those things in the game we passively don't register. If Anti-barrier sidearms come around again, you'll have something that slaps those champions harder than Shaxx can scream and might be a universal anti-champion gun. Deconstruct also pairs incredibly well with Häkke Breach Armament origin trait. If Bungie gave it that trait, it would be really good for that niche. -Bait and Switch: We all know its an almost only used perk on heavy weapons but its a good pair up for Anarchy and Dragons Breath setups. Since RE-construct and Auto Loading Holsters got nerfed, it might not be that bad to have this on while you wait for the heavies to reload. More bang for your buck than some fusion rifles. - Adagio and Frenzy. Adagio is not that bad. yeah it slows down your rate of fire by a noticable amount but it also boosts range. 30% damage on a single kill is worth it on specials. Frenzy may only give 15% damage but also grants great stat boosts that make it a really nice " feel good" experience. 100 handling and reload speed is really good. There's reasons why people use Ophidian Aspects in PvE despite everything else you can run on warlock. Its that good feeling! Other than that, if you get what you wanted and got left over engrams, focus on some armor for reliable good stats or get your hands on the strand weapons of iron banner. There's a few unique guns worth having for PvE. A fusion rifle with Discord for practically infinite special ammo, the only waveframe in the slot, Onslaught or hatchling on a high impact auto rifle and an ok Scout Rifle with Demo and Hatchling. Then there's Stasis Archons Thunder with some interesting PvE perks. Iron Banner this time around got some valuable stuff. No need to fear FOMO as the guns are focusable even when not in rotation.
I asked myself the riptide question as soon as I saw the pocket rocket. I'm gonna go for it. To me, I'm already grinding banner for a reset because I like gilding the seal. Turned in some engrams yesterday but I'll wait to do a reset for more perks.

Honestly, if you don't have a good Chill Clip gun yet, playing a bunch of Iron Banner to try and get a good Tinasha's Mastery will also get you a bunch of Crucible engrams to roll on Riptide with. It's a two-for-one opportunity.
I love how careful Datto is about advising people that they should MAYBE dip their toe into PvP
I got Impulse amplifier & Chill Clip. Impulse amplifiers 35% increase in projectile speed makes it feel like a juiced hand cannon.
Doesn't impulse also affect reload speed?
@@samvakarian Yes, and it also speeds up the reload animation 15%.
These comments feel like an advanced AI conversation
@@thealldayspecial I don’t think you’re wrong or off-base in your comment. That said, dealing damage AND inflicting a debuff (Slow) simultaneously is a legitimately good play, especially as enemy difficulty and enemy density scale-up. I don’t think this Stasis sidearm is a “must-have”… but that’s honestly true about any weapon in D2. It’s a really good weapon; I think most players will benefit from having one.
@serenbaden Not sure if I should feel insulted or praised.
i liked the editing in this one. the perks popping up in the corner is a very nice touch for a non chronic destiny player like me!
Or even run double special rocket side arms using Indebted with Permeability!
Got 10 or so copies of this gun, got 2 chill clip rolls, 1st was reverberation, second was loose change, scrapped the reverb and have been quite happy with the loose change roll
10:54 so does that mean a future glaive video!!??! :"D
don't sleep on bait and switch for titans with hazardous propulsion
In order for glaives to be meta, it would be nice if they introduce perks that effect the MELEE, not just the projectile
@ROFLWAFFLELAWL4 exactly
so my first roll was reverberation and adagio. i didn’t know how to feel about it, until i started using it. and i must say, the ad clear potential on this thing is actually incredible. i’ve been pairing it with arc abilities/weapons to take care of champions (the artifact helps immensely with this) and have really been enjoying it. and i have offhand strike/chill clip in the vault for if i need it.
Unrelated, but I snagged a velocity baton with that roll, too. Seems like a solid pick especially if they ever nerf attrition orbs on GLs
This could go so hard w Icebreaker though, especially w icebreaker's catalyst. That's for sure smthing I'm gonna be trying out.
Any real CoolGuy heads know about Air Trigger
Thissss
I only bother with that in PvP. It's not really needed in PVE.
free reload just for hopping in the air, and free extra reserves forever is so good, people sleep on it too much
@@Jonny_Nemonothing is needed in pve
@@Jonny_Nemo WHAT??????? IT'S BROKEN IN PVE WHAT YOU ON ABOUT?
IB dropping on the week of Thanksgiving where most people are touching grass is criminal
It'll be around next week as well
I really like the new glaive with Chill Clip, but I really want this sidearm as another option for dealing with champs.
Tac Mag secretly increases reserves, Enlightened Action is worse than the other reload perks because you won't get high stacks with Chill Clip, and Surrounded is bugged so it won't give you the expected damage bonus.
I have one with extended mag, off hand and extended mag and i love it. Lots of chill clip shots and find the hip fire fun.
came hyped to see Datto's recommended rolls, left feeling just a little called out and sad for liking IB.. and Frenzy..
I'd also recommend trying Reverberation Frenzy. It's not a boss melter by any means but it's superb as cleaning out ads that are around bigger targets. A couple minors hanging around a major will get demolished as you plink away the big one.
@6:50 fire team member blows himself up and Datto just hops right over him and leaves him dead.
😂
Reconsider trying out a deconstruct roll if you get one. I got deconstruct + chill clip and it was returning ammo to the mag so often the functional mag size must've been at least doubled. Needs more testing but I beleive hitting multiple enemies with a shot's explosion can retrun ammo faster. Running through encounters in vesper's host (much of which is pretty ad dense) I noted ammo getting reloaded every 2-4 shots. Most the time it was 3 shots and it reloads 2 shots. Very easy to keep above 50% capacity and keep firing chill clip shots.
Ended up getting a chillclip reverberation roll, and i am suprised how well they pair with eachother...
I personally prefer rake angle as my chill clip use. Freezes in 2 shots, shoots faster than riptide and has the benefit of being able to tank an absurd amount of damage with a glaive. If you are using a pick for utility, why not have multiple funtions?
>advocates for no crafting
>has to play an activity he doesn't like
>instantly gives up on getting a good roll
We love you datto, never change.
When it's iron banner, all bets are off brother
All "anti-crafting" Destiny Players become hypocrites if they hate an activity enough.
I find it funny that every video comes down to
- get a chill clip roll
-be happy with the other perks, no matter what
-get your ass out of IB asap
Deconstruct and Reverberation are actually really good on this gun man.
love the new editing!
I'm just a bit sick of using Deliverance solely for stunning champs at this point. So getting more Chill Clip weapons will always be a reason for me to smile.
Yup! Variety is good.
2nd drop was the chill C and Air trigger. It’s awesome
Deconstruct+ Chill clip is the godroll on this
Teverbration /1fAll & loose change/chill clip are pretty damned good!
I see chill clip on a rocket sidearm, idc about anything else, I keep it.
Don't care about ammo (cause special finisher exists), good aoe freeze, decent damage and free champion stuns. That's enough for me
>deconstruct
>chill clip
let me cook
I may be crazy, but unlike a lot of players I dont use rocket sidearms as a main weapon, I use it when I need it like most special weapons, so ammo is never an issue for me, so I gladly took my loose change + chill clip roll
nice touch adding the definition of the perks
10:12 "maybe you feel more strongly about your weapon selection than i do, in that case, use your best judgment"
But that gun doesn't have chill clip 😂
I see what you did there.
Nice.
lmao
the king of rocket sidearms will be whenever they make a void one with withering gaze repulsor brace for my gyrfalcon build
Datto, you forgot Buried Bloodline in your rocket-propelled sidearm list
The joke in the thumbnail was not lost on me, thanks Datto. 😏
idk to be completely honest IB is kinda alright currently
Got two air trigger/chill clip rolls after the first 3 matches anyway but it's fun.
my first focused engram was air trigger chill clip. then i dismantled it.😅 i wanted deconstruct chill clip 😢
Lol dang. Usually with new weapons I just stock pile the first 10 I get in my vault, then research what one or two I will keep!
Best of luck getting it again.
@@Grahamalon8001i know. habit of quickly deleting what i didn’t want. perhaps i should use your method.
Burden of guilt is the fusion you should look for if u want chill klipp.
But I like the sidearm. With chill klipp. 😊
they should give the origin perk the same effect in PVE, like if chaff is on and you get a kill you get your radar back for a few seconds. not big deal but better than literally no origin perk like its a collection weapon
I got a deconstruct + chill clip on my 7th pull. I thought deconstruct was a throw away perk but I've been loving it.
Love iron banner. Got 7 of these so far and I’m hopping back online as soon as I get off work today.
don't forget that side arms are generally in the artifact more!
Enlightened Action + Chill Clip. I’ll take it
1st engram decon + chill clip
2nd engram impulse amp + chill clip
Hey, you forgot to mention that Indebted Kindness is also a rocket sidearm technically :(
TBH I've been running deconstruct on Indebted with impulse since I got the roll. Even if you don't benefit from the bonus damage, it refills the magazine pretty quickly, and probably will even faster when enhanced and factoring in the AOE damage from chill clip.
played iron banner yesterday and got 6 engrams, went to the dude, focused tinashas, got tac mag air trigger chill clip off rip. feels good
hot take:
glaives are better than rocket sidearms in 90% of scenarios. they are basically rocket sidearms but with a built in melee and a massive DR shield.
If I didn’t get the notification from datto, I would think destiny and concord had the same amount of players
Im cool with grinding for it. I put on ourbreak or jade rabbit with the new shotgun on titan and call it a day. Idk how many matches i've won but iron banner feels pretty chill rn.
1:12 but datto, Buried Bloodline :/
I play pvp cause it’s fun, this gun is just a cherry on top for me
i have heard that decon works great with chill clip as frozen enemies counts as contructs so you do more damage and it autoreloads in the 3rd shoot, if you want a more active rool impulse or air is the better choice, but for a full on chillclip build it could be very good, shoud work the same as aurvandil with recon or riptide with autoloading, in the glaive i hope to get an overflow chill so i dont have to reload it, personaly ima be happy with the 1rst one that has chillclip at all and call it a day, the least i play pvp the better lol
Datto’s title game is on point tbh last few titles were including stream titles screaming middle aged memer
I asked myself the riptide question as soon as I saw the pocket rocket. I'm gonna go for it.
To me, I'm already grinding banner for a reset because I like gilding the seal. Turned in some engrams yesterday but I'll wait to do a reset for more perks.
Iron Banner resets don't give you multiple perks like strikes, crucible or gambit.
@ my day is ruined and my disappointment is immeasurable ☹️
@@Pengu92 just wear all 5 IB armor (or 4 with an old ib piece using another another IB ornament to free up exotic slot, IB emblem, complete the daily challenges, and focus engrams and hope for the best my man!
The vibe with this video is that the gun is cool for stasis builds and being able to stun all 3 champions. Outside of that its mid.
Thats the feeling i get from watching this.
It’s control and with the rep increase you just have to play 4-5 matches to get 6 or 7 engrams and the ability to focus them
I personally did not play a lot of Iron Banana for the past 2 returns. I am going to grind this one.
Played 4 games. Got to rank 4 with 5 engrams, cashes them in got a chill/clip loose change roll. I’m good for the next two week
