Completely in agreement with you. This young lady has never really "done" anything for me before but this piece was made for her light agile voice. I will forever be a Sumi Jo fan but I could happily add this voice to my listening if she records more in this style.
A lovely performance - but benefitting from futuristic camera work and perhaps some vocal dubbing, to enhance our TH-cam experience. I will not hear a word against a similar performance (live) by Sumi Jo. These sopranos have something individually to offer and to make crass comparisons is rather like saying - ' I prefer spinach to broccoli '. We are not running a quality paper chase here, but savouring the fruits of individuals' labours of love. Let that not be forgotten, please. Robert
Ah! you make the mistake of thinking art is quantifiable. Your idea of better may not be another’s view. For me Sumi has something that no other soprano will ever capture. Then see the horrible things Bartoli fans say about Sumi! It is all totally subjective. I am happy that you enjoy “real” music as I do but don't judge, I long ago learned the futility of that. :)

One of the best interpretations I've seen of this piece, however, I think Sumi Jo has better technique when singing Villanelle.

Le "e" chanté à la française, soit le son "eu". Pierre Bernac était un professeur unique. Avec lui le son "e" était un "e", et non un "eu"!
