Honestly for the modern Minuteman, I think it's hard to go wrong with a 1-6 or 1-8x variable power scope. A accurate barrel is a accurate barrel, for the most part. What you get with a longer barrel is increased terminal velocity at the target. What a bull barrel does over a pencil barrel, is absorb more heat and keeps the barrel Ridgid before it starts to string real bad. I've got to the point where all my new rifles have 20 inch barrels and 1-8x scopes on them. I live in a rural area, so shots of 200 to 400 is not uncommon. If you live in a area where shooting past 200 would be rare, I'd probably look at a 3x or 4X optic and save some weight. Fixed power Scopes are typically stronger as well. Although I prefer a 1 - 8x and bull barrels for everything, you are going to pay quite a price in weight. A Bull barrel alone is 3 and 1/2 pounds! And 18" A2 or better, socomm profile and a 1-8x is probably the better combination for most people. But to each thier own.
This man speaks the truth. Unfortunately, many YT vids cater towards the higher population density areas, which is ironic considering most of those voters don’t align with our ideology. I digress. It’s sexy now to watch DA raid tactics by SOCOM/JSOC because they’re sexy and get more views but what most don’t realize is those units have TONS of support to make those missions successful. The irony is that most of us will be helped exponentially by the average grunt advice in SHTF if it’s taught and adhered to correctly. I recommend most people have full length rifles for emergencies. Why? Because performing CQB as a singleton is retarded. Learn tactics to understand context. Once you do, you’ll be more pragmatic in your approach. I’m more of a fan of the SPR/DMR/RECCE tactics (although they’re blurred for sure) because it makes more sense in solo settings.
I had a buddy in the ypg who was in a dmr guy before he joined the ypg he told me ideally its best to get proper trainin however if all u got is the basics to go hog, coyote or deer hunting its better then nothing at all. I actively hunt coyote and feral hog to keep on my hunting skills i can see how hunting can be applied in shft for food and for defense in a team if thats all you got. Then again im very picky who i would trust to begin with, on my Preparedness team id depend more on my wife and a couple of friends i did dirt work with in executive protection and ypg

I am considering to a scope for my 9130 rifle. For now i am happy i can reach out to a good distance with irons thats with my bcgs and contacts i wear 🤣 I typically just carry a few stripper clips on me for my 9130. I would rather just carry a couple pouches of spam cause i dont have acess to mres. I plan buying a set of nvgs i can see using night vision goggles cause i can use between a ak47 and mosin nagant rifle

Shorter barrels leaves to fouling, over heating and jams. May be with a AR system , no on the AK system. Barrels are 24 to 26 inches. What are your targets? Ground troops? convoys? house clearing? counter action? Remember , if this a rag tag team. No heavy support. How long will you last in the real world. I got to watch this more a couple of times.
The m110 Is a 20 inch barrel sniper rifle in basically in a high end ar10 platform. The dmr remember isnt sniper so 20 inch a3/a4 are nailing human size targets at 700 to 800 meters which Is the outer limits of 556. But mission would dictate your equipment and the ar is extremely module.

Truth my ar10 barrel I had a gunsmith custom make it. If will shoot better than I can. Which will be half moa or better with good ammunition.
