- So glad the Barbie movie dolls are starting to come out! I got my hands on this first one and the face had a lot of people talking... yeah. Of course I had to put my own touches on her and deal with those bangs and give her a new face worthy of the stunning Margot Robbie!

She looks great!! I don't mind the default face - and with the removed bangs you could really see the resemblance come through better - but do think your version captures Margot very beautifully and love your new bangs as well.

OMG Why didn't Mattel hire you for this face up? Wow she is so much better than factory. Thank you for showing me the true beauty behind this doll. I couldn't see the beauty because of the bangs and the face printing to a certain degree.
I agree with you about the face details. I often wonder why Mattel always put so much effort in making detailed head sculpts but so few in the face prints ... like with the harry potter dolls for example. Is it a cost thing? At least they are good canvases for doll customisers 😉Anyway, great repaint!

Your repaint improved her SO much. I saw her in the store today, and almost bought her, but something about her face made me go, "eh...." and leave her on the shelf. I'm still not sure if i want to buy her or not. If she had the face you painted on her, I probably would have.
Edited to say I bought her the next day. :) She was the last one.

Chin length bangs would have worked so much better. Mattel could have done a similar technique the way they did Katniss’s bangs, since they were sort of a curtain bang style in the films.

After seeing your repaint, yes, I’ll be buying this doll and repaint her as well. I like your first repaint better than the packaged doll but I like your 2nd repaint better than the first. That’s a great face mold.
Excellent job on her face up, she looks a lot like Margot now. By the way the purple yoga Barbie’s body, is a darn good match for her body and it’s made to move, so more articulation. 🤗

The bangs and hair on your doll are so much better! I just bought the corvette and the doll at Walmart today and I couldn’t believe how horrible the doll’s hair was. I knew the bangs were already awful but the back was so knotted and barely curled. I tried to fix it by combing it out and trimming the ends, and it was no use. I checked my previous dolls I’ve had for years, and even played with, and their hair was much better. Idk if it’s just me and my OCD, but I wasn’t too happy considering the doll was $30

@wise5746 Which "real barbie" are you even referring to? Barbie has been around for 64 years and during that time has had numerous faces. The orginal NO.1 barbie looks completely different than the barbies of today and the barbies of today look completely different than the barbies I had as a kid so trying to hold up this purtianitcal standard of what a barbie doll should look like seems rather silly to me. Just say you aren't a fan of Margot Robbie or dont find her attractive rather than hiding behind this foolish pretense 🤷♀️ Frankly she suits the role fine, she just doesnt look like YOUR preferred version of Barbie and thats a personal problem.

Can you tell us what size of small brushes do you use? i'm dying to find the right ones to repaint mine but even the small ones seem too big for barbies eyes details, if you could have some tips it'd be amazing! Loved this painting and bangs!

I’m in the middle of rerooting as well. How did you only pluck the bangs? I plucked part of the ponytail by accident. So now she’s bald because I thought it was easier. I should have only removed the bangs and then I could have added hair back to the ponytail. 🤷🏻♀️ Oh well, trial and error. 🤣
