Good thing you took the cowl off and found the mice! In addition to loving the wiring insulation, mouse urine works wonders on the painted aluminum peices on outboard powerheads 😂
My side garage that I keep my jet skis, dirt bikes, and a couple outboards in is a little more "rickety" and not as sealed up as it should be (gap between the door and uneven concrete, etc). In addition to good ole moth balls (which may or may not work), I've been putting some of the lemon and mint packs and granules around in there (especially during winter) and have gotten lucky.... so far.... 😅

I tried bars of soap in one of my cars. The mice ate it. :|

Couple tips, turn the material 1/4 turn then you could have completely covered the outboard. Always heat from the bottom up since heat rises. A small boat like that shouldn’t make much of a difference but larger boats will hold heat and shrink the top so if you start at the top it will heat the top too much and possible melt. Don’t go over the same spot twice, stay in the same spot until it shrinks then move on and leave it. the wrinkles don’t need to be all the way gone. To look pretty. And yes, I would have run a strap from the nose over the outboard. Gorgeous boat by the way and great first time wrapping.

In Arizona. Long storage we encourage humidity. 5 gallon bucket of water in the boat when it's covered......Great to see Rob is alive and well.

😂 I’ve cut a few belly bands.. I’ve even melted them with the torch while making my welds on pontoons because the band goes outside of the wrap then folds up in front of you

Wouldn't folding up trap water and moisture?

@@ADDvanced its usually tucked up under the ledge above the toon enough that water rolls right off, generally not a problem but you could cut a few drain holes in areas of concern

OMG Rob you read my mind! I just got 3 of my old boats and seadoo washed and vaccuumed just 2 days ago. I have the material but yet to shrink wrap on my own and was going to look up youtube and see what is my best plan of attack. This is Jim from Northern Lower Michigan, we have emailed a bit recently, remember the Glastron Carlson fleet I have? lol. Looking forward to watching this video.

Did you ever get that xr2 to stop over heating? I ended up pulling my V150 this summer after I hurt it doing 70+mph speed runs with my Avenger. I swapped a marketplace xr2 power head on for the rest of the summer and was fighting overheat almost like you but without the high water pressure. I ended up taking the seal out of the poppet valve and cutting an old set of thermostats down to just the ring and seal. Didn’t fix it but it did get me through the rest of the summer without blowing it up. Temps were around 150 at WOT and water pressure around 15 to 18PSI. Guessing there’s something blocked up in the exhaust plate. Tearing the V150 down now for inspection. Hoping it’s nothing catastrophic but I’ll be tearing the xr2 down after and possibly doing a refresh on it.

Critters and outboards are challenging. IMO you can wrap inboards and seal them up better…we should invent a technique or contraption to help with outboard sealing

Where have you been all summer? I would say you didn't use that boat at all by the size of the mouse nest. 🤔 I will tell you from experience that a mouse can fit up through the exhaust if you have the round style On a Merc 150, I had a nest in two cylinders on mine when I bought it. Was able to make it run but my boat is now named "Mouse Trap"...😂
