- A video describing how to use the VIX ERG TP5700 ticket machine. This video is a run down though the features of this machine and hopefully will be able to show other drivers who aren’t familiar with this machine how to use it.

We use this machine in Australia, particularly in rural areas. Ours is slightly different however the functions are exactly the same except for the alt key being the trip key. Great video.
Vix is doing the “fare transformation” project here in Phoenix, Arizona. Good to know what I’m in for here in the US. They did Dallas as well but from what I heard from Dallas drivers, they really love the Vix system there.

Excellent vid. Thinking about applying to become a driver. Thing that botherd me was learning how to operate the ticket machine and having to give out change quickly as maths is not my strongest point. Made it look so simple.
I'm only used to these in Stagecoach buses but it's cool to see them in other operators buses

I like how these newer ticket machines make the job much easier. I think I would get used to this after a wee bit of practice.
We use ticketer here Essex, had these Vix before but the ticketer is so much better now
Stagecoach still use this ticket machine type today but with modified contactless top scanners on instead of the newer ones that all other bus companies have like First and Arriva

Hi ! I'm a coach driver in France, i'm using the same "computer", the only différence is the lowest range of digit which is only with numbers, to enter my ID numbers & my pin. I think thé only missing things on that box are GPS, personal message system to reply to the office, and function to add additional journey numbers ("over planned journey").
How do you do the headway thing? I know on Stagecoach buses, you can see how far ahead the bus infront is and how far behind the behind is so if you are on a high frequency route, you can keep a regular timetable rather than worrying about your lateness and that sort of thing.
I was wondering what the manual smart card button does and the change voucher please?
I will never complain about our ticket machines again, after seeing this.

Alex -D- it’s so helpful especially at 4am when your mind just can’t add money up 😂
Just be aware that not all Vix machines come with this function we only have the add function on our ones at Hedingham not the calculator so you might want to brush up on your maths if you want to be a bus driver or work in London good luck :D.
London doesn't use cash on buses anymore.
I did wonder how drivers worked out the change - especially in the early hours - working out change before coffee is a no-go!

Do you still use these ticket machines or has your Bus company Started using Ticketer machines ?.
Think the ticket machines have recently been replaced. Had so much trouble with my white Metro PAYG card. Many bus firms couldn't accept them or the drivers didn't know at first what to do with them. They soon cottoned on! However Yorkshire Tiger couldn't use them, and many a driver would just wave me on. Not any more though!
nearly all drivers over this way now know how to use them! I did let someone on once before I knew what I was doing! he did try the trick 'you guys cant read what's on my card' once but I was like 'Ohh yes we can now" haha

Hey great video, i've got a quick question, iv'e got a medical with stagecoach in 2 weeks i'm just wondering if you know , do they fill out the medical D4 form for you for the PCV provisional license or do you have to go to your own doctor? Thanks
Hjc900 it seems so long ago since I went for mine! I’m sure the doctor goes through it and marks what he needs to mark (saying your fit to drive) then I believe stagecoach will check it all for you and then you’ll send it off.
Send 1st class recorded so it’ll get to the DVLA faster and you’ll have the provisional entitlement on your licence quicker!
After that just keep checking your license on the gov.co.uk website to see if it’s been done, then call stagecoach and they may be able to fit you in quicker.
Everything is done through there own doctor as it’s quicker for stagecoach!
