What I love about this bike, and others that are in the same vein, is the individuality in design and the fact that they are a modern take on what many believe a motorcycle should be; simple and fun

Brava Bmw

Where was that happening? In Germany? Try to buy a Harley all over this world. Believe me, they'll do their best to ignore you 100%. I assume it's written in the Harley dealership franchise policy. Three countries, three Harley dealerships, three times I left cussing and spitting. I've bought a Triumph T100. At BMW never had that problem and I've been twice there. Hope you enjoy your bike! Safe ride

I'm looking for a motorcycle to drive across the USA with. I need it to be very reliable considering I don't know much about vehicles or how they work. Is this bike reliable enough to where it won't break down? Is it a good cross country bike?

The BMW R1200RT is also a fun bike but designed for riding across continents. I have a 2012 that I bought for less that this bike new and it has all you would want for long distance touring, plus you can remove the bags and have a pretty capable sport bike. Check em out! BMW R1200RT. plenty of TH-cam reviews. Good Luck!

Perhaps you've already bought your ride but here are some inputs on R nine T. I own a 2014 model and the only "problem" I've had was with the gauge cable which to my surprise got worn out and cut itself (near a zip tie) because... apparently I was steering often... :))) I was joking with my dealer asking for forgiveness for I didn't know I wasn't suppose to steer. They took care of it and that was all, really. The engine is robust and powerful, plenty of torque, comfy inside the city, nimble, caring, forgiving, fast, not too bad when lane splitting (the two cylinders sticking out like a bulldog's nut sac are sometimes challenging) it's a little too hard on your ass if you're commuting and merciless if you're planning a long trip with it. Don't! The rear brake will wear twice as fast as the front one and that'll happen around 5000-6500 km.
All and all, it's an extremely cool ride, you'll get plenty of attention, it's gorgeous, plenty of accessories to make it even cooler, I'll never trade mine, but for long trips, and if you have a proper budget, go for R1200 RT, R1600 GT or for R1200 GS (on/off road). For long trips I ride a 1200 GSA.
      ride safe, bro

      Hi MotoDetroit,
This video was filmed in the USA - more specifically in the LA area.
      I hope that helps!

Why not you have used water cooled new engine on this bike , i was totally disappointed by getting knowing this the engine on this bike is old air cooled boxer which is not refine , service intervals of this engine is quite often , for instance valve check just after 10000km and oil replace also after 10000km , it would be game changing if u replace the engine of this beautiful machine with 1250cc water cooled new generation boxer engine, believe me it would be game changing

    Titan,
If you want the ultimate reliability; can't go wrong with Japanese engineering. Try a Honda, lacks some of characteristics of this scrambler but if reliability is your cause go with Honda

I like the bike very much but these official BMW promos all seem to have wanna be hipsters much in the vein of Bruno the Gay Austrian Fashionista. Are these promos produced by Sascha Baron Cohen by chance??
