It's always great being able to grab some food along the roadside. Looking forward to berry season again this year.

Love the addition of typed comments in these past videos as we learn more about your experiences. Foraging along the route is the best. Do you find the SRAM or Shimano drivetrains suit each of your needs? Is it personal preference? Have you found that all the gear you have is required compared to your 2018 trip? Absolutely love this adventure!

Thank you ! We agree foraging is fantastic and those blackberries were super tasty. In terms of drivetrain we don't really have a preference for one over the other. It just worked out that Steve's bike is fit out with SRAM and mine with Shimano. I will say that my bike has had a horrible habit of shredding rear derailleur cables and I think that may be down to a faulty shifter. Other than that I have really liked the feel of Shimano GRX and Steve is really happy with SRAM. Both of us run 2 x chainrings which has suited us well touring with so much gear.
Our 2018 trip was a more lightweight affair in terms of what we carried on the bikes. We stayed in B&Bs and hotels so no camping gear, and we didn't have electronic equipment like laptops or cameras etc. That meant we could go with a straight up bikepacking bag setup and no panniers. For this trip we were both really happy with our equipment and felt we had everything we needed. We were especially happy with our tent, sleeping and cooking equipment - the aeropress got a great work out for coffee each day :-) Bella...

      Hi Rob,
Thanks for the comments and we are glad you are enjoying the videos. The cycling and cycle touring here in France is fantastic and we have plenty more adventures planned in the future.
Yes it is a Surly Straggler and I am a big fan of it. I have owned it since 2017 and done many trips on it. Never had any issues and would recommend it highly.

Hi guys enjoying the trip and considering same next year. Just wondering how much is trail, canal, gravel vs road.

@@macca545 The majority for us was road with some canal paths and bike paths when they were available. The roads we were on, for the most part, were nice and quiet. Drivers in France respect cyclists and being on the road is not a big issue for us.
