I 100% agree. I argued this on a tiktok a while ago, but the lack of space left much to be desired. I had argued that from a Titan Main perspective, the majority of the Supers are cheeks and don't show any individualism. Aside from Solar and Void, the rest are literally just "punch" with some kind of ground slam. I'm pretty sure only like 1 or 2 of the 10 Charged melees are actual punches, and we don't get much of any benefits to our uncharged melees without constantly having a specific Aspect on which further limits build-crafting. Titans are a lot more than just punching. We are, as you said, Warriors. Masters of warfare. Our kits should aid us in some type of way like Hunters with their ability to enter and leave combat, or Warlocks with their crazy utility and cooldown management. I was talking to someone about how they could have made the Supers geared towards different melee weapons even, if they wanted Titans to be the melee class. You could impart a Javelin Super to the Stasis class to continue the Diamond Lance idea they had. You could leave the Arc Titan as the bare-knuckle brawler with aspects that benefit them if they use melee. And Strand? It would be so sick if they gave us like either a Sword (and/or Shield) Super to fulfill the Knight powerfantasy, or a Bolas (use-it-and-lose-it similar to Nova Bomb/Shadow Shot/Silence and Squall) to go alone with the String-kind of energy Strand has while still keeping us a master of weapons. - Granted that last option could very well fit on a Hunter, but seriously, they have so many options and they basically gave up on that. I get that being like Wolverine or something is cool, but it's just.. punching with extra steps.
Used to play the game a ton as a Titan main back in the day, but have only been playing the yearly single player campaigns for the past couple years. The last time I played was witch queen campaign on PC. When I logged on my Titan, I realized that I didn't have access to stasis, because I had played beyond light on console. I briefly debated buying beyond light again, but then concluded if I want to play that subclass, I would just play striker, lol.

IDK if the Titan needs a new identity but like you pointing out used to be the big explosion class. We had Actium War Rig that allowed us to put more ammo down range rally barricade used to instant reload our weapons. Now many of those perks are all over heavy weapons with Triple Tap, Fourth Times the Charm, Rewind Rounds, Reconstruction, demolitionist and for some reason there isn't anything in the Titans tool kit that allows them to make Heavy GL add clearing weapons. We used to be the class that buffed our entire team with Weapons of Light only to be outdone but Warlocks with Well of Radiance. They finally made Titans capable of being front line monsters, heck they even accidentally gave us the big explosion class with HoiL on void and arc Titans only to have way too many people cry for nerfs to one of the only exotic that allows Titans to even do that. I do disagree tho on Arc hunters having the best melee class. Synthoceps has been deleting bosses, speed running GMs, and you can have so much survivability there is just little point to having Loreley splendor in just about all content. I mean freak you can literally ignore match game in most cases because the damage is so filthy. I can still one shot briggs in legend operation seraph shield and get my melee back almost as easily as hunters can.
@PocketTuna somehow my comment aged so poorly. Got multiple nerfs to the only identify we did have meanwhile Hunters have not only been untouched but can now do the Navigator damage that Titans had.
It’s funny because there are multiple fan-made subclasses and exotics that Bungie could just take and remake, but just don’t. Titans could’ve become a Green Lantern of Sorts or Technomancer, Warlocks could’ve been a Necromancer or Hypnosis Caster, Hunters could’ve gone full dive into the Tangling and Acrobatics of what it already is.
The sheer amount of limitations to being known as the "punch class" when the lore itself says otherwise. Paragons of strength if I'm remembering correctly. Just melee alone doesn't show it and Hunters having the better melee builds really strips away any identity. Two subclasses solely around punching and one class doing it better due to the Aspects catering to that. Striker used to be the subclass of getting in close and having the enemy at the end of our fist. Void was to defend allies. Solar came along to give us the hammers and invulnerability. Sunbreaker and Defender truthfully fit their roles well but Striker, Behemoth and now Berserker are too similar to each other. Honestly the new Strand super just works better for the melee super. Striker should just be reworked or given something new. Stasis as well. So many great Titan builds out there but having no super to cater to those builds is disappointing. What are we going to lose next? Our tankiness has already been stripped away and then being nerfed in LF. 40% on every class was too much and should've only been for the Titan class. The nerfed version being for the other two. Two things being added that Bungie has to do: Give Solar Warlocks an Aspect around healing and giving Titans not only something new and unfamiliar but an identity overall. The Spartan Titan being an example.
As a former Titan main you nailed the problem. Even gave it some slight black air force energy. While these hands are amazing Titans are more than the punch class. I'm really hoping strand surprises me as I would like to come back home respectfully hahahaha.
The fact that I have seen so much backlash and memes born from the reveal of a yet to be played subclass that looks like “punch class with punch super except green” is phenomenal. I like me crayons, but I agree, I would like to switch up to markers and colored pencils here and there. Plus I don’t see why the titans whole thing seems to be “punch the mothafucka” when hunters are better in the melee department. Fucking nuking enemies with one inch punch electrified, having infinite burning knives, a knife that can trick shot and one shot, a knife that can become a fuckin pocket nuke, ice shurikens that you can have infinite of with the right build and has amazing tracking (in pve at least) and will slow, freeze and shatter multiple hostiles. And now Hunters are getting what essentially seems like an infinite throwing dagger with strand. Not to mention the dodge that can give your melee back fully in addition to the other benefits of that class ability. If I want to be a melee warrior who still has ranged options and can hang in endgame with the right build I will just play my Hunter.
Hi. Titan main since House of Wolves here. 4,000+ hours across the franchise. I agree with you that the stereotype needs to go, but it's also a stereotype entirely made up by the players. We've never had the "unga bunga" Titan archetype in lore outside some really dumb joke characters in Guardian Games lore. Titans have always been this fusion of engineers and strategists with a semi-Crusader/Legionary culture to back it up. Not only having Knightly Orders such as the Stoneborn, Firebreak, Pilgrim Guard, Chain, etc. and the command structures to boot, but heraldry denoting their affiliations and positions. Some of which can be found in game today. From Holborn and his improvised EMP devices fashioned from spare parts and their collective building of the walls to characters like Saint-14 and his philosophical positions on not only the Darkness but our purposes as Guardians. Titans are also known for not only pouring over and forming opinions on ancient philosophy and strategic tretises like the Art of War, but they write their own. There's even an old line in the D1 tower that goes "books for the Titans, too heavy, oh no." These are not the exception, but the rule. It's just not focused on as heavily today as it was in Destiny 1, which is truly sad and only feeds into the misconceptions. Titans also use battle as a sort of meditation, melee being a favored form of connecting with the enemy on a personal- almost spiritual level, and many of their tactics revolve around shaping the battlefield to stack advantages in their favor. Some subclasses do this better than others, of course, but broadly I think the moveset plays into this mentality fairly well, at least for the three light based subclasses. No other subclass exemplifies this better than the Sentinel. Specifically, with a Bubble and overshield centric build. It allows you to better set the pace of combat, allowing for intense aggression in CQC or a more passive playstyle that revolves around suppression and accurate, punishing firepower. I actually like the Berserker subclass for its CC potential and ease of access to Woven Mail, which plays pretty well into the idea of controlling the flow of battle, but there are some issues I have with it. The only failings I see with Berserker is the super's melee focus and the lack of a ranged melee option. This pushes aggression a lot more, and while that's ok, having a ranged and/or buff based option (like a big cone extending out in front of you as you move that buffs you and your allies' ranged attacks with unraveling while granting woven mail or also applying sever) to allow for more variation in any given engagement would be nice. Perhaps allowing the thrown melee to spread unraveling on a kill with a super that lets you put down a D1 vanilla turret (if you remember those, God bless), or even something less drastic with shotgun gauntlets and a suspending grenade attack. Keeping the broader gameplay of the subclass but playing into the theme more. A lasso would also be cool. Something along these lines would also play into Strand being the opposite of Void for Titans. Sharing a lot of the same utility, but displaying it in different ways.
Very well written comment I agree with everything you said. I just wish more of the lore for the Titan class would peek through in Destiny 2. I enjoy the playstyle of Titan which is why I main it, BUT I think they need to dial it in more like the other classes
Also, THANK YOU for talking about Resupply being fucked over. Like, holy hell, I have been wondering why no one else has been pointing that out. Also, Roaring Flames and Sun Warrior were nerfed too when they got converted to 3.0 and everyone seems to have forgotten about it. And now they're nerfing Tcrash and Bubble, what's next? Making HoS/BM worse for no reason so they see even less use?
I have a issue with Warlock too, i'm totally against the new warlock armor style in D2. D1 warlock armor looked more convicing and pratical, like something someone would wear in a adventure/ combat scenario. D2 Warlock armor are just bathrobes, rags or feminine dresses.
I've wanted a shield and flail super for the longest time for the titan. Just something knightly or medieval-like that would be fucking stellar, but here we are, being forced to just punch things again for the umpteenth time in a row.
Something I’ve always wanted for Titan is to be an ammo specialist/damage amplifier. Being able to replace barricade for an ammo box that increases reload speed and refills weapon magazines would be amazing. Heck maybe they could make an exotic for it that overfills your teammates weapon mags and gives supers like golden gun more shots or needle storm more needles. (I’m thinking in PVE terms right now, I don’t know how this would effect PVP.)
See marvel vs Capcom iron man. See John Stewart Green lantern. Shoot a giant cannon. Give us Leonidas vs Medusa strand armor and throw a one shot spear that debuffs or slowly does dot. Of course the Hunter has a spear toss. So instead when you pop your super your entire team gets kitted with green construct armor and maybe you get a strand glaive with higher dmg resistance blocking.
Tbh I like the blades in berserker a lot. But someone mentioned that it would be cool if they were like the blades of chaos. So I would make the heavy attack a ranged whipping attack and throw a lash when in air, while the light attack is the same but can slide to throw a lash. But you’re thumbnail nail gave me an idea to make sentinel more akin to a spartan hoplite. The super would be a spear and shield that grants damage reduction from the front when in motion but the sides remain vulnerable. The light attack would be the spear that would combo into an attack with the shield. The heavy attack would throw the spear but you can use the actual melee button/key to throw your shield to suppress any enemies that are hit. And when casting the rally barricade it grants a buff to weapon handling and reload speed. And for striker I would more or less replace the super as is and make it based off of boxing to have a proper brawler class in the game but each punch thrown throws a lightning bolt that can arc between enemies. The light attack would be a jab cross that throw straight bolts, and the heavy would be hooks that throw waves of arc energy that do a bit more damage but can be held to charge an upper cut that deals more damage depending on how long it is charged. To go with arc having speed as part if it’s identity, casting a barricade grants a buff to both reload speed and firing rate. Sure they still fit the melee vibe they go for but I’m still giving them basis in real life and benefits to make them lean towards their soldier design.
All we can do is pray. Pray bungie is cooking up something special for titans. Maybe not a whole rework but Christ! Strand is PERFECT for the punch fantasy. (Maybe Solar too). But the other 3 subclasses need something more than just punching. Void was always supposed to boost you and your teammates Damage output and defense, so why not bring back perks like resupply? Giving teammates Health and ability energy would be nice on top of overshields. Or maybe add something new to a Titan aspect like roaring flames. Where each stack buffs radiant damage for you and teammates. TL:DR: Strand does melee the best. The other 4 subclasses are ok for punching but should also focus on Support/other alternatives.
I feel like titans should go back to the tanky class that it used to be, now we die in the same number of shots as the other classes in nearly every scenario
@@PocketTuna But with pvp it's only really useful for the capture zones, since it cant be moved around, unlike every other super in the game. I don't think it'd really do all that much to pvp
I was thinking since everything they say titans do is with our fists gives us e mega blaster like mega man or what about if we hunker down and summon a huge rocket from our backs and fire against our enemies ?!
for strand i really want a subclass where using what your baracade would be would imbune your bullets with strand and you would be able to combo you nade and your melee wich would be a strand rocket with it
a cool idea would be if the titan could plant the spike into the ground and whoevers in the radius would get overshield and a rate of fire increase. like warlock well and kinda like orisas old bongo in OW but different obviously.
Honestly i always looked at titans as "warrior gunners" since destiny 1. I always feel disappointed when bungie makes another melee playstyle based subclass for titans. Community had some ideas for the strand, a minigun, a railgun, a super that creates a strand made ammo supply (like the ones in gambit) for some seconds and the players Who use this grt their reserves filled and their weapon damage changed to strand for a bunch of seconds eith unraveling rounds added. Titans in my opinion need to be the paladins of their team, the first line of defence and support, not fucking shotgun monkeys. Bungie really needs to update titans in their own, also an exotic armor rework would be a good think, there are so many cool exotics that are just terrible in this meta, please bungie evolve us from monkeys to cool space magic warriors
2:36 ? The warlock armor also has physical grenades even though no warlock uses them, yet nobody is complaining. It’s just armor. If you don’t like it then just use something else. Problem solved
It’s even more evident now, Titan not only is the worst sub class but it has the least amount of supers after final shape and they’re all obsolete. They need to go the mmo route and make Titan an actual tank allow them to grab Agro from bosses or give them increased D/R but do less damage, they gotta do something. Titans get so out classes in pve and all options in pvp are just completely shit on while others remain unchanged. They should make class specific mods to allow for more unique builds or overhaul the stats system. Could you imagine a D/R stat or a endurance/Stamina stat, the only stat that matters on Titan is resilience everything else really doesn’t matter.
Ive seen an idea somewhere else on TH-cam. Strand super should’ve been a minigun juggernaut. Like look at the lightfall armor. Remember that strand bullets have auto tracking. Remember that one of the perks of strand is woven mail. Need I say more? CMON BUNGiE DO IT. GIVE US THE BRRRT CANNON.
They also have us being the scorched Earth class with big explosions. Unfortunately most of those builds revolve around HoiL and an awful lot of people want it nerfed.
Hunters can heal too stop lol but yes it isn’t as easy as the other classes to get any type of healing. Although hunters have invisibility which is just as good.
I reject your assertion on the face of it as someone who mains Sentinel in PVP and Subreaker in PVE. A lot of Titan builds are melee focused, I'll grant you, but there is so many other options. Who uses Sweet Business better than a Titan with Actium War Rig? A Titan with Peacekeepers is always the best SMG user, and both them and Actium fulfill that ammo fantasy you're talking about, or put on Anteaus Wards and a Slideshot weapon. Even Shouldercharge is often better employed as a movement tool than a melee. It's a lack of player creativity not a lack of options. I can put up numbers in the crucible with Bubble Sentinel, Aisha's Embrace, and Witherhoard while being a team supporting machine. In PVE I can play Sunbreaker and use an Incandescent scout rifle to open up a very friendly hole to charge through while wearing Phoenix Cradle. That Titan design has a first through the breach mentality, I won't argue against, but you can very easily skirt around that if you're conscious about build choices, and it's not like Hunter doesn't also draw on a lot real world warrior archetypes. If a Hunter build is the meta's best melee build then okay for that stretch of time Ninjas are better than Vikings. I have full faith that there's fellow Crayon-Eaters on the design team that just don't get the airtime. The tools are there if you have the creativity to look, but you have to have that creativity, if you don't you're just taking what other people say is the meta and that's a losing game. Seriously I challenge you to play a Sunbreaker with Ember of Torches and Monte Carlo and never chase down your hammer in PvE unless it's a stick flick away. The Aspect and Fragment system absolutely allows for medium/long range Titan builds if you experiment around with them, and there are serious veins of build space to work in so long as everything is pointing in that direction. This isn't Titans being shoehorned, this is your lack of creativity within the systems.
0:13 What you have just said is sich depravity, such blasphemy, and such heresy... but I'll allow you to finish your mad ramblings. See if you regain your sense by the end.
The truth is that Bungie just doesn't know how to design a video game. Hate me all you want but I think Bungie's game dev team is long overdue for some sacking. Someone's getting paid more than they're worth over there.
Lore wise Titans = Walking tanks
Game wise Titans = Retired boxers

The nerfed version being for the other two.
Two things being added that Bungie has to do: Give Solar Warlocks an Aspect around healing and giving Titans not only something new and unfamiliar but an identity overall. The Spartan Titan being an example.
Agreed. In the same way solar warlock randomly got a rework, some of the Titan subclasses need that aswell
Dont let your mald get in the way of game balance, titans having 10% more passive dr would be busted.
This right here are what all the raging titans felt! Bungie's creative is a let down to titans they pay more important skills to the npc's.
100% it's so weird lol
Titans are supposed to be tanks but have the exact same health and resistance as everyone else
yupppp
I love how right you were and no one is willing to say it.
Been a titan since day one and it's getting hard be interested in my class. But the other classes make me feel like a bitch so I'll tank through it.
You described my feelings EXACTLY
I love your content. No nonsense, all facts
I really appreciate the love my friend :-)
As a titan main i agree i want to be a super soldier not a boxing glove
I want to be master chief on steroids lol
The strand titan super should have been a gun type super were they create a mini gun and mow down enemys, call it juggernaut or something
Yup!!!
As a former Titan main you nailed the problem. Even gave it some slight black air force energy. While these hands are amazing Titans are more than the punch class. I'm really hoping strand surprises me as I would like to come back home respectfully hahahaha.
I'm spending the next 2 weeks debating what I'm going to start Lightfall with. First time since D1 dark below where I might not be a Titan main lol
Imagine a video coming out over a year ago and it perfectly explains the modern titan sentiment
As a Warlock main, even I agree
I appreciate my book reading friends
There's even an old line in the D1 tower that goes "books for the Titans, too heavy, oh no."
These are not the exception, but the rule.
I am 100% with you on this, I legit thought I was the onyl way that felt that way lol
the concept of change big time in a 9 year old game. daunting
Challenge. Impossible.
I've wanted a shield and flail super for the longest time for the titan. Just something knightly or medieval-like that would be fucking stellar, but here we are, being forced to just punch things again for the umpteenth time in a row.
SAMEEEEEE
Something I’ve always wanted for Titan is to be an ammo specialist/damage amplifier. Being able to replace barricade for an ammo box that increases reload speed and refills weapon magazines would be amazing. Heck maybe they could make an exotic for it that overfills your teammates weapon mags and gives supers like golden gun more shots or needle storm more needles. (I’m thinking in PVE terms right now, I don’t know how this would effect PVP.)
YES!!!! Idk why they’re afraid of doing stuff like this
Wait until he realizes warriors in history didn’t have space magic
Wait until you realize that the inability to grasp subtext and nuance is a symptom of autism
but they also had swords and other weapons to help in melee combat and we are not just warriors we are soldiers as well
This is exactly why we need Destiny 3 with new classes and more depth!
Yeahhhhhhhhhh I know alot of people don't want Destiny 3 but I tink it's necessary
Warlock - wizards, mage's, psychics.
Hunters - gunslinger, rouges, assassin's
*Titans - tanks, knights, super soldiers.*
The titan armor looks like it does because the original strand super was going to be a cool strand minigun, but no... Green Fists of Havoc instead
I will never forgive them for dick teasing us like that
See marvel vs Capcom iron man.
Dopeeeeeeeee
My man is here.
Hell yeah brother!
Good Video. Its a good theme i am interestet about
Thank you :-)
Strand should of been turrets, armor, focusing on defending your Allies and controlling the front
We need more Titan support classes for sure
Strand was surprisingly good but pisses me off more knowing the other subclasses could’ve been that cool
I feel like titans should go back to the tanky class that it used to be, now we die in the same number of shots as the other classes in nearly every scenario
They’re afraid to do that because of PvP
@@PocketTuna But with pvp it's only really useful for the capture zones, since it cant be moved around, unlike every other super in the game. I don't think it'd really do all that much to pvp
We titans been punching things I can't think anything that could replace it without it being overpowered or underpowered
Please give me the heavy armor warrior!!!
Yes please!!!!
I was thinking since everything they say titans do is with our fists gives us e mega blaster like mega man or what about if we hunker down and summon a huge rocket from our backs and fire against our enemies ?!
for strand i really want a subclass where using what your baracade would be would imbune your bullets with strand and you would be able to combo you nade and your melee wich would be a strand rocket with it
I see rockets and I’m automatically in lol
a cool idea would be if the titan could plant the spike into the ground and whoevers in the radius would get overshield and a rate of fire increase. like warlock well and kinda like orisas old bongo in OW but different obviously.
I get what you’re saying that would be dopeeeee
They need to lean inton the space marine/warrior alot heavier
2:36 ? The warlock armor also has physical grenades even though no warlock uses them, yet nobody is complaining. It’s just armor. If you don’t like it then just use something else. Problem solved
I really love your takes on this.
Thanks I appreciate the love :-)
I wanted a throwing strand lance as super.
You and me both
Wow you said exactly what I've been thinking
That's my goal!!
Only thing I can think of is a parry ability to counter annoying shotgunners where you can send they're shot back at them lol
But we got boots that do that but it would be nice not having to slide around all the time to do that tho
Just a opinion
Because none of them get what the Titan is supposed to be.
Sad but true
@Pocket Tuna
I main hunter and could build a better Titan.
Superman is a Titan.
Doomguy is a Titan.
Goku Is a Titan.
Jotaro Kujdo is a Titan.
I think the point of current titan is supposed to be really good at holding ground
They also have us being the scorched Earth class with big explosions. Unfortunately most of those builds revolve around HoiL and an awful lot of people want it nerfed.
When they nerf that I will be super sad
At least titans have healing, now look at hunters my friend
Hunters can heal too stop lol but yes it isn’t as easy as the other classes to get any type of healing. Although hunters have invisibility which is just as good.
I couldn’t agree more man.
Appreciate ya!
@@PocketTuna thanks bro. I appreciate you too, you say what we all want to but have no means to.
Hear, hear!
WOOOOO!!
All facts is sad man
Thanks man!
Oooo I have a new great idea for Titan how about the martial artist? Instead of just punch more moves kicks and fits of course. Ehh how about it?
Beyblade let it rip?
lmao something like that
0:13 What you have just said is sich depravity, such blasphemy, and such heresy... but I'll allow you to finish your mad ramblings. See if you regain your sense by the end.
Lmaooooo my new favorite comment
The truth is that Bungie just doesn't know how to design a video game. Hate me all you want but I think Bungie's game dev team is long overdue for some sacking. Someone's getting paid more than they're worth over there.
response to your comments on my video is in my new video :)
Sweeeeeet I'll check it out
