No, she needs more control over her breathing well singing. Her singing isn't bad at all, it's amazing. But that's a part of her vocals that could use some improvement. She's still a young singer, her level of singing is already impressive as it is. There is no sense in denying there are places where she can have more control.
When you sing your vocal chords are suppose to be compressed letting out the lease amount of air possible, what she’s doing is separating her chords adding the airiness but what that’s going to do is create friction on her vocal chords so she’ll get hoarse faster and eventually she’ll experience vocal decline due to scarring.

Being a vocalist I understand some of people’s points with their criticism but there is a WAY to say it. Some of you are so nasty with the way you say your opinion!! No. The breathy people are referring to is the technique she is overusing. She has a beautiful full voice and the breathiness she is doing is not natural, it’s affected. It’s lovely, but can definitely cause ear fatigue to the listener. There are vocalists who are naturally breathy, like Ariana Grande, Adele, Billie Eilish (when she’s not utilizing vocal fry) and Sia. Sophia is utilizing a forced air technique through her vocal cords. It’s really unnecessarily breathy.

Making your voice breathy is actually a legitimate technique in singing. Having heard her do other performances I am convinced this was intentional for this one. But she’s made it a little too heavy on it, giving it an impression of an actual issue.

That's exactly how I felt. Not only that, but I'd feel as though she's a perfect option for Ariel's singing voice in the live-action remake of the film.
It's actually the opposite problem, but that's why it's so obnoxious. Her sound is breathy and she has to breathe so frequently because she's not taking deep breaths. She's taking a bunch of really shallow breaths into her lungs instead of deep, quiet breaths into her diaphragm. She'd get so much more support and a much fuller sound if she could get some help with her breathing technique.
It's actually due to her breathing..... See she's trying to belt and yet keep it soft here ...... That's a tough thing to accomplish even for someone who's experience without sounding breathy

Making your voice breathy is actually a legitimate technique in singing. Having heard her do other performances I am convinced this was intentional for this one. But she’s made it a little too heavy on it, giving it an impression of an actual issue.

That's exactly how I felt. Not only that, but I'd feel as though she's a perfect option for Ariel's singing voice in the live-action remake of the film.

It's actually the opposite problem, but that's why it's so obnoxious. Her sound is breathy and she has to breathe so frequently because she's not taking deep breaths. She's taking a bunch of really shallow breaths into her lungs instead of deep, quiet breaths into her diaphragm. She'd get so much more support and a much fuller sound if she could get some help with her breathing technique.

Isn't it hard to sing sitting in that swing? You could almost feel her relief getting off. What I like about Sofia is she has her own voice brand, it's hard to describe because it's so unique. Every rendition she sings, she marks it with her brand, it becomes hers. Does she even have a flaw? Why is she so darn pretty!?
