  • For many Canadians who have experienced a mild or moderate traumatic brain injury (mmTBI), balance deficiency can be a frustrating and long-lasting symptom. Join Dr. Harry Kovelman and BIST’s Ryan Natale as they discuss the PoNS™ “Portable Neuromodulation Stimulator” device and its potential to treat the chronic balance deficit of mmTBI patients.
Dr. Kovelman will explain how the device combines a comprehensive therapy program with gentle stimulation of the tongue to excite the neural network, which may encourage neuroplasticity, the ability of the brain to form new connections. This change in the neural network may compensate for previously lost function, or in this case may improve a patient’s balance and gait. You will also hear from former PoNS™ patient, Beth Foster, who has volunteered to share her PoNS Treatment™ experience. Beth will tell her mmTBI story, including how the 14-week Treatment program improved her balance, and subsequently, her quality of life.
Speakers: Dr. Harry Kovelman, Vice-President, Medical Affairs at Helius Medical Technologies Inc.
Alicia Baertsoen, Media and Public Relations Strategist at Helius Medical Technologies Inc.
Beth Foster, Former PoNS™ Patient, Advantage 4 Athlete

Why in the world is this not available to those of us suffering with neuro diseases?

BIST has some of the most miserable staff there especially now. Don't bother with them. And stay away from Melissa Forrest at all costs. That's a trap right there.
