    • @preciousmetalswithleif8939

    • @Franklin-fp9nk
      @Franklin-fp9nk 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The moment you buy the bar you lose its premium, and the premium for such bars are around 80 to 100 dollars above the spot price. People make profits off Gold by selling them when the prices go higher, and when such thing happens, you will make your profit + little bit of premium (20 to 50 dollars) per piece IF you had really been taking care of the bar/coin that you had in your portofolio.

But if opened they'll only buy at scrap value. They have a much more trouble reselling it if not in good condition assay card so modern naked bars that should be in a card but isn't usually just go back to a refinery.
      Might be that you don't care if it's in a card or not but most people do so naturally for the seller to be able to have a business he'll pay less. But hey if you don't care ask him if he got any "naked" bars for a good price if you're going to open it anyway :)

      Or how about a Krugerrand, Gold Eagle or Perhaps something a little more exotic like the 100 Coronas, 50 Pesos or 100 Francs? They're all in the 1 oz ball park (50 Pesos a little step above) and has been made to withstand handling and not quite as small as stamps. Great to feel the weight of them!
      Plus they don't really loose much premium compared to an "unboxed" gold bar unless they're heavily scarred. Many reasons I switched to coins. If you're not a big kahuna doing kilobars or even 400 oz bars then coins are really the best option and if you can afford and justify it then the 1 oz ball park is usually where the best value for money is. Easier to verify with simple tools and no "certificate" (it's the easiest part to fake anyway) to worry about. Might be a tiny bit more expensive than 1 oz bars but should be well returned when selling - especially if selling privately which coins are a lot easier to do than bars.

      @@preciousmetalswithleif8939 Only happy that my comments are read 🙃
      I'm in the verge myself to pull the trigger on a 100 Corona - seems to fit the crazy world right now (corona lol) and it has low premiums at the moment - even a hair better than Krugerrand. But I admit it's a difficult decision. Are the prices we see now only temporarely until lets say fall when most countries have vaccinated most of their population for corona or is this the new price of gold? I can afford one and even 3 coins should it be no issue but if prices falls it would be a bummer. Not because I'd be ruined but because I could have waited and got more :D
      By the way the new Britannia is also one that I might buy but for some odd reason Tavex is not selling it in Denmark. Oh well. Could always buy at BullionByPost instead now they got free shipping to a few countries - incl. mine. I bought a Sovereign a month ago just to try it out - went over all expectations.
      I must admit when all this corona crazyness started I was on the verge to sell my two 100 grams bars, keep the cash and buy them (or rather coins) again when the crazyness died. That was March 2020 and I can still sell them for quite a bit more than I bought them for years back. So so far it has been good I didn't sell them!
      Happy stacking!

      @@HifiCentret It will be interesting to monitor prices now for sure. We have both the low interest monetary policy in all of the west bumping up prices of goods like gold but also the ghost of Corona will live on for quite a while and perhaps put a lid on the economy. For me, I have no idea where we are headed so all I can do is diversify. Some physical metals, some stocks, a little cash, etc. Then at least whatever fails doesnt totally ruin me 👩‍🍳

      Premiums are always much higher in the smaller values. Generally much less then 1/4 coins and 10 grams bars doesn't really make sense and even then it's still better to go 20 gram bar or 1 oz coin. Sure there might be good deals on something lower from time to time but that's the general rule. For instance for me locally the 1 Ducat is the #1 best buy in its size range - not far from the full oz coins in terms of premium. But that may not last forever so do the math and make wise decisions based on your budget and buying power.
      For 1 gram bars it seems Tavex has the best offer at the moment (branded bar from Nadir Metal Refinery in Istanbull) in the Scandinavian region. Significantly lower premium than 1 gram Valcambi. But really don't buy 1 gram bars unless for gift. Even 5 gram bars are much better buys even though they're not that great deals.
