    I have the super 27 for about 6 years . Burn 24/7 in cold WVa. I watch all these stove demos light the fire work way to hard . I put 2 round or splits on the sides ,twisted newspaper in the tunnel about 3 in wide or so 3 or 4 pine cones s some dry sticks or small wood pieces top it with a split piece or dry pine split or some other real dry stuff ,take about 2 or 3 minutes. As it burns it all falls to the middle of the fire . Starts like a rocket stove on its side .Don’t need to add anything for an hour or two.. Don’t under stand the idea of a double wall pipe ,get a lot of heat from regular old stove pipe . Do have double was insulation pipe to the out side . Love my super 27 stove . Stay safe stay warm.

      New stoves don't heat up the pipe that much

    Great stoves way ahead of their time.
    I’ve got one and it works good but could use some improvement like have a timer that opens the draft control after 5 hrs of burn time so the stove keeps throwing good heat. I guess some newer PE stoves have that.
    I modified my baffle with larger and more holes works much better now plus made my own baffle gasket out of door or window gasket material (can’t remember which).

    Also does it really suck back in exhaust gasses to reburn? I thought I followed the baffle intake one time and it just went to the back/bottom of the stove where the fresh air intake area is.

      Not sure exactly how it works .. but I guess the baffle adds another shot of fresh air for a secondary burn/re burns the gases before it exits the chimney. Something like that

    Hello, thank you for putting together this video. There's some great info. I'm struggling with early season burning and keeping my flue temps down. Unless I have flue temps of 600c the stove top doesn't come up to 300c very easily. That flue temp is way too high. Have you over fired your stove before? If I pack mine like you did early in the season it'll just rage outa control even with the damper all the way to the right. Is this the same case for you?

    • @pjwats5647
      @pjwats5647  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I’ve got the temperature in the “ too hot” zone many times. It’s seems it’s impossible not to do. I wouldn’t worry. Your chimney liner /stove/ chimney can handle those temperatures. You just don’t want to run the stove at those temps full time. A few spikes here and there for a bit is ok. Unless you don’t put enough wood in the stove and have a really small
      Fire I don’t see how you can’t spike the temperatures from time to time

      My flue gets up to 500-600 Celsius on start up pretty regularly then settles down

      I know it’s late but check your door seal. If your fire is raging when it’s turned down you’re simply getting too much air from somewhere. Find out where the air is getting in.

    • @pjwats5647

      I try to load it closer to the front as that’s where the air inlets are but I ensure that the wood is not touching the glass..

    Quick question, I just got this yesterday.. it seems like it takes a long time to heat up my house, I have a Square footage of 1,675 is this because it’s the first fire, or is there a break in. Period? Please get back to me

    • @pjwats5647
      @pjwats5647  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is your wood nice and dry and seasoned ? If it’s still pretty fresh that will affect how much heat it throws out. If you have a ceiling fan anywhere near stove turn that on counter clockwise so that tossing the warm air around. You can also run the fan on your furnace to circulate the heat around your house. It’s likely your wood though.. you’ll know when the stove is really cooking. There’s no “break in” period that will affect the heat out put. Buy a small bag of kiln dried wood from the gas station or wherever and see if it makes a difference. Best of luck !

      This is my 2nd year with this stove and I would say making sure dry wood really helps. I am heating up about 2800sqf, and it heats up relatively fast!

    do you leave the lever on start when lighting the fire. I just bought a house with one of these and no instructions

    • @pjwats5647
      @pjwats5647  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah keep it on High / Start for the first 15-20 mins or so until the fire is established then slide it down to low. You don’t want a raging fire but a nice consistent burn. Get yourself a stove top thermometer or flue temp gauge to give you a good idea of when it’s time to turn it down to low.

    Good morning I just wanted to know how hot can I get this wood-burning stove, I know the inside of the stove will be 800 and the surface temperature will be 700 with no signs of over firing. The stove does not turn red or growing red is these temperatures okay ?

    • @pjwats5647
      @pjwats5647  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as you aren’t using it wide open and turning down the draft to 50% and below once the fire is going I wouldn’t worry. Overfiring will shorten the life of the stove. You’ll get pretty big spikes in temp after you turn the draft down sometimes but try to keep it in the 500-600 range
