The Playlist is the first thing that really hit me on night one and it just keeps getting better. Then to see and hear so many strong confident men passionately endorse a woman for president. I felt last night was a huge gathering of men to support women. It was striking. Doug was outstanding, so was his son. He is not a regretting spouse who feels overshadowed. It really is self evident that he genuinely wants the best for her and will do whatever it takes. Michelle Obama blew me out of the water. Both she and Barak spoke to the hearts and minds of people across the land and the world. They elevated the conversation, they elevated the recognition of the moment, they elevated the level of responsibility and power to produce change that each person in America has to Do Something. There was no dry eye in the house because people were being spoken to about something deep inside of them that we all ache for in what is best about America - we are all connected, we need each other, we CAN make America a better place to live through cooperation and tolerance and the peace and safety that comes with the rule of law. It was an extraordinary night.
I am from the Netherlands and I follow American politics for years, to be truth, from the time of Kennedy. But what I saw and heard last evening, was beyond my expectations. All the speeches were so excellent, one after the other, but it was not only political retorica but it was profoundly thru and emotional. A great message for the future of America and the world. I thought the video about Doug Emhoff, narrated by his son Cole, was the most impactful piece of media I have seen for the Harris campaign. It normalizes her in such a way by showing her with someone so genuine and loving to her and shows both of their humanity. His speech was great too!
