  • During an interview, a Politician (Harry Lennix) wants to “take a break,” having some other ideas for the time spent with a professional journalist (Emmy Rossum). #ThatsHarassment
One in four women face harassment in the workplace. These PSAs- written and directed by Israeli-American director Sigal Avin and executive produced by David Schwimmer, Mazdack Rassi of MILK Studios and Sigal Avin-are based on real events and depict scenarios of sexual harassment in workplaces.

@Cdawg FahShawg You're not wrong, she definitely should've been more forward, but I think the point in the character acting like this is to show a more realistic portrayal of a woman feeling truly uncomfortable during these sort of situations. A lot of women will not be forward and direct because they don't want to come across as rude or overly dramatic, or they may feel intimidated by the person harassing them, especially if the person is their boss, teacher, or freaking POLITICIAN. They could also feel intimidated if they believe that if they show their discomfort or disgust in an obvious and less subtle way, the man could get pissed off and end up hurting them. You can never be too sure. And then there are some women are are just naturally passive or shy and will refuse to speak up whenever something's bothering them, which is terribly dangerous and they need to fix this issue ASAP.
I'm guessing that this video was focusing more on, "What is sexual harassment?" or "How to tell if you or someone else is being harassed" rather than "What to do when you're being sexually harassed". It's to show how a woman (or man) will typically show that he or she is uncomfortable though their body language and subtle verbal cues. Lets be real, most women will not have the courage to slap a man in the face or scream at him for harassing her, especially if he's a politician. And it's also to tell those who have been harassed, "Hey, has this has ever happened to you? Yes? Well it isn't okay, and no person has any right to treat you this way. Don't let this happen to you again." As well as give others a warning for those who haven't been harassed, in case they do in the future.

No, not all men are scumbags. I would say MOST men are good and decent people. The good ones cringe through watching this video feeling how uncomfortable this REAL situation is right along with us. Men (and some women, of course) are usually the ones who try this kind of thing and women (and some men, of course) are the ones who have to play defense, most of the time.
Part of the problem is that we women just don't know how to handle these situations. We have never been taught how to react when someone in a professional setting tries to hit on us, touches us in ways that only our boyfriends and husbands would (or girlfriends, if it's that kind of relationship, or if the roles are reversed and it's a woman harassing a man, which does happen), when someone makes an inappropriate comment, etc. It's just easier to smile and even laugh through our discomfort instead of addressing someone immediately who is of equal rank, or even worse, when someone is our superior. There are men who suffer through this, too.
Education FOR BOTH SEXES IN BOTH ROLES continues to be the solution. This video helps recognize the situation, but what should we do about it? How should we handle it? There are huge gaps to fill and we have a long way to go, still.

It is my opinion, based on my personal observations, that men who do this are doing it for the same reason that rapists rape. It's about power, and control. Most of them **do** realize the trauma that harassment puts a woman through - and they like it. They *want* to make her uncomfortable. What they also know is they want her to feel subservient to him, and "just comply" because that's the power part. There are men who will try to save their own asses when they're called out, and claim they "didn't know she was uncomfortable," or ,"Had no intention to harm," but it has nothing to do with not knowing what they are doing. It's just that they only act out of self-preservation, and self-pleasure, and nothing else.
Knowing that a person is getting off on discomfort puts a victim in a very strange position. If she shows she's *very* uncomfortable, it only makes the harasser more excited, and push harder. If she shows no response at all, then he gets to pretend, "She wants it." There's no winning in this situation. There is no right response. The only "correct" response is to do your best to keep yourself safe, and extricate yourself from the situation as fast as possible. Anything else is asking too much from a victim.
**Note** This applies to everyone - men harassing women, men harassing men, women harassing men, and on and on. If you're a guy, and you're being pushed this way by a woman, you're just as much a victim. The *HARASSER* is the *ABUSER* and it is never a victim's responsibility to control someone else's shitty behavior.

I will note she made snide sarcastic comments when she should have been telling him flat out she was uncomfortable with his advances. Or perhaps move to the other chair. I’m not sure if this is a realistic response or if that was just how the script was written.
The male character was being a dick. guys like this cant take the “hint” and her Sarcasm is only leading him on further.
The problem with guys like this is they simply don’t get it. They are idiots. Leaving the room and reporting it rather than trying to push on with the work will only exacerbate his behavior thinking she wants to be there next to him like that.
None of this is her fault. But I hope other women watching will learn from this and understand what not to do if faced with a similar situation. See him for the animal he is and react accordingly.

For this one, I actually think the only egregious part is when he touches her thigh after she mentions her husband. Aside from that you could chalk it up to a politician hitting on a reporter during an interview. He also may have actually misinterpreted her statement, "I'm easy..." (regarding food), thinking it was innuendo (because he wanted it to be innuendo). Once her stance becomes unmistakable he agrees to simply continue the interview. However, he should have quit at "husband."

She was already visibly uncomfortable when he moved to sit next to her, but gave him the benefit of the doubt. When he wouldn't stop, she deliberately mentioned her husband and tried to get out into public where the perceived chances of misbehaving might have been lower. Also she was visibly irritated by that hand that lingered too long on her shoulder and signalled this with her hand and body moving away.

Cdawg FahShawg lol it’d be really creepy, not all women like other women and it wouldn’t be cool for anyone to make any advances that the other side wasn’t returning. You’re trying so hard-so hard-to make men turn out to be the victim. There ARE some male sexual harassment victims, especially in the little boys [ :( ]and we should acknowledge them more. But do you honestly think tearing down sexually harassed women while simultaneously tearing down the argument that men aren’t noticed more will support your point? Sad.

He is 100% wrong and totally creepy. But something as a "strong independent woman" that doesn't make sense is why she didn't handle it better. When he touched her the 2nd time she should have stated something to the effect of "We are both professional adults so I hope you can respect that I don't appreciate your hands on me. Now if you don't mind lets finish this interview so we can get this over. Thank you." Why become a victim? Just stand up. You always have a choice, its not an easy one, but that's life. If you don't stand up for yourself no one else will. Look at every major Hollywood actress or business woman who has fell "victim" but NO ONE, especially themselves took control of the situation at the time it happened. There are evil people out there, protect yourself.

Him touching her is not part of his job and he could have easily flirted with her without laying his hands on her but once the lady mentions that she is married he should stop trying to flirt with her and continue on with his work like he is supposed to.

If you're a normal functioning adult, you are responsible for your own actions. Other people aren't in the fault all because they interpret you differently.
