Thanks for the tutorial. It just took 1 hour to make a map after seeing your video. I was totally noob in making these kind of stuffs. But now i can tell, i can make map on GIS (hahaha). Thank you brother.

I recently got a trial version of ArcMap 10.4.1, and of the three 'Add Data' pull-down options only the top one (Add data )was available and the lower two (Add Basemap and 'Add Data' from 'ArcGIS Online' ) were grayed out and not selectable. How can I make the internet connection to get the base maps or do I need to be operating in ArcGIS online ?

As you know there are no hard rules in design just guidelines. The scalebar could have gone on the dataframe itself, or even where the captain went. True it would be better. The main point in making a map is effective communication and this map does the job.

I'm looking at ArcGIS as a career move since I've been using Illustrator to draw diagrams, layouts, maps and overlays for various projects and locations mostly outside of the US. Can ArcGIS create searchable maps? What I mean is the ability to create a map and assign building numbers and other attributes that can be searched and identified to a user. I though wayfinding software would be a solution but I do no need navigation nor touch screen abilities. If not ArcGIS, can you recommend a solution? Thanks again.
@@Pletelandia You would need to check your firewall first and make sure it is off. If it is then you need to go to your ArcCatalog and add ArcGIS.com as a GIS Server.

Hi! thanks for your tutorial :) i have a problem though... when i go to the Binoculars to Find the maps, in the dropdown list only gives me 2 options, and none of those show much info :( how can i get all the others added?? Thank you!
+MaJo C The newer version of ArcMap combined all the services to just ArcGIS.com, when you look for a location there you will see it still pings multiple locators, you can see the service in the column next to the confidence percentage.

I think the purpose was to create a map not a lesson on "cartographic design" but what do I know I've only been on CAD since version 13.0 lol

This could happen if your computer can't reach ArcGIS.com map services because it is being blocked by firewall.
And do you know how to solve this problem?

Please go to View menu and click on Data frame properties and then on NEW Grid and then next ..next Coordinates will be visible on map OK

That computer had 32 gigs of RAM and i7. But the key here was internet speed since the slow point is the downloading of the base map

I have registered with Arcmap for a 21 days trial but the window and tool bar are different from yours. Pleaese advice
