It's based on the Wangan Midnight manga. It is the twelfth game in the Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune arcade game series. It is the second upgrade of the Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 6 Arcade game and the game is released in Japan November 17, 2021.
Australia/NZ is currently at WMMT 6RR (0:10 with the current Bandai Namco logo) might missed out on the latest WMMT 6RR+ (with the new Bandai Namco logo) sharing the WMMT 6R fate that skipped international markets. I hope Bandai Namco will introduce an all new WMMT 7 maybe Australia will go first with brand new HD LED screen plus improved cockpit design, unnamed Namco arcade hardware with updated PC specs (used on Dead Heat Unleashed, Goldstorm Pirates), revised Wangan Midnight story mode, Bandai Namco Passport upgrade from WMMT6 to add or remove car profiles, and remake BGM soundtracks from WMMT1-WMMT3 in trance and eurobeat remix.
Or, I think it will be a "New Project" of Wangan Midnight called "Wangan Midnight Shin", my thoughts it will be a new game. But yes, I really want all of 'em getting improved. Especially cab designs and visual graphics are consistent and not changed at all since WMMT4, just getting new cars and cars again but it's also no new courses since last time in 5DX+. 6RR+ is kinda meh and meh again, adding cars again, no (or maybe just a little) innovations at all for dozens of years. Oh, i almost forgot to mention about Decals/Stickers goes disappear since 6.
Wangan's back with some new cars (in the same good ol' WMMT4 Framework)! I swear to god if WMMT7 comes out, it would be a brand new from-the-ground up framework.
