Troubleshooting Sensor Pairing Issues for TPMS

  • Guide to installing a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) including changing pressure and temperature units, swapping sensors between tires, and most importantly performing the sensor pairing.
    Note:
    You may be able to successfully pair the sensors without taking the batteries out of all the sensors. I believe that you may be able to pair it just by going to the Sensor Pairing menu, pressing the M button twice so that the lower set of numbers blink, and then simply installing the corresponding sensor to the car tire. You can try this first, if it doesn't work you can then try removing the method of removing the batteries from all sensors before pairing one by one.

    this was a great explanation on how to use this. I am wondering if you can answer a question.. my unit instuctions says "pressure copes 14-87 PSI". I am wanting to use this for a small tent trailer single axle. (I don't find the range anywhere, however hoping this is possible..) I am about to purchase new tires but I have read that often max PSI for trailer tires is 85PSI (and I have seen at least one that was 90PSI). Does that mean that this unit will not go higher than 87PSI? Therefore it won't work for higher pressure rated tires? Also, when I try to program the low end of the PSI, the highest PSI I can put in is 35PSI which would seem not to help at all with the higher pressure tires. I don't know much at all about tires, but any help you could offer would be appreciated. Thank you for the excellent tutorial!

    Hi, first off, thank you for making this instructional video. One of my sensors unfortunately suffered from water corrosion and I subsequently purchased a replacement unit. However , after following the steps you showed to pair the sensor it was to no avail. Suspecting that perhaps the battery was faulty I even switch to one of the existing batteries which are in working order but still was not able to pair it. Is there anything else that I can do ? Instead of scanning for it can we manually set the number ?

    Thanks a lot for this valuable explanation all over the whole internet I was looking for.
    Now I would like to add a query which might help others too and it is a bit tricky and exceptional requirements.
    My scenario is, I've used external TPMS sensors previously and after a year, the main machine was useless so I bought a new TPMS with internal option. Now anyhow one of those four internal sensor got battery discharged which I came to know after disassemble the sensor.
    Now at this moment I have those old external sensors fine but the old TPMS machine was faulty, in this case "Can I synchronize any of my external tire sensor with the Internal TPMS machine anyhow which can help me to sustain few more days with a complete TPMS setup ?" If so, please guide how.
    It will be really helpful and thanks in advance.

      Hey jonjonmd, no I don't, I've never opened mine up before. The batteries are not meant to be replaceable inside the receiver unit but I reckon that it most probably uses a cheap 1-cell lithium ion battery in it. You could probably get a similar battery from eBay or Amazon and solder it in yourself but I would advise against it because if you don't get the battery specs exactly right, you could risk an explosion when the solar tries to recharge the batteries.

      Have you checked the battery on the sensors? It could be that you have a bad reader unit or the reader unit is not getting enough electrical power. You can try by connecting to USB instead of solar. Remember - these are cheap electronics that aren't really super high quality, so you may just have a bad unit.

  • @malulo

    I inflated my 4 tires to 36 psi. 3 sensors agree but the RF shows only 31. I haven't paired the sensors but if I install the RF sensor in another wheel it keeps showing 31 psi whilst the original sensor showed 36 psi, therefore I concluded that the sensor is defective because being the accuracy 0.1 bar= 1.5 psi it is way out of range. Now if I buy a replacement sensor from another supplier which shows an almost identical monitor, would it work with my kit?

    • @roadrangermy4354
      @roadrangermy4354  ปีที่แล้ว

      Your mileage may vary with this - these aren't super stringently manufactured devices and many of them are just different factories copying from one another. It might work or it might not work - it's really not possible to say.

      I think it is worth it because it is quite cheap. I don't rely on it for accuracy of the reading, for me the most important use of this device is to tell me if I have a puncture while driving. I bought this after my tire was damaged beyond repair because it developed a puncture on the highway but I couldn't hear the puncture while I was driving.
