The Raiders were so bad this year. But Bruce Gradkowski found a way to get the job done, in his hometown no less. I remember watching this last drive, sick as a dog with food poisoning in my bed not believing what I saw. My Raiders were so awful that year. That was pure hometown magic from Bruce Gradkowski this day.
Man i remember this abysmal 5-11 season. And the nightmare that was jamarcus Russell. It was depressing. Seeing the chargers with rivers and Lt winning the division and sweeping us again. But this game was the highlight of that season. I remember listening to it on the radio with greg papa. I was estatic that we beat the defending champs.
The first of many blown fourth quarter leads by the Steelers in the 2009 season. The Defense absolutely could not hold a lead if their lives depended on it. It was probably the worst Steelers Defenses of all time. The Lebeau Defense's Achilles Heel was exposed with Troy gone. Troy Polamalu really made THAT much of a difference. He was a lynchpin that seperated the Defense from a great Defense to a crappy one.
Aaron Smith was also a key cog that made that defense great, especially against the run. In 09 once both Smith and Polamalu were gone, well u got this game and more as an example.
It's 2021 and the LeBeau/Butler scheme still can't hold a lead in the fourth quarter. Still swap too many scores. Still giving up points to the final 5 minutes of first halves also. It's been a problem for 20 fucking years. The defense still gets their free pass.
Fun fact: The Raiders lost 24-7 to Dallas the week prior. They also lost 34-13 to Washington the following week. Makes this Steelers loss even more lolworthy.
In that game against Washington we were down 17-13 but then Gradkowski suffers a knee injury and we have to put Russell in and the wheels fall off from there.
Part of the infamous 5 game losing streak during the '09 season... otherwise they were the best team in the NFL that year had that not occurred. All 5 could have gone the other way
Disagree, this one was worse than 2018. In 2018, I expected it. Games like this among many other stupid losses to inferior opponents, are the reasons why I consider Tomlin to be substandard and Ben R. to be second tier at best QB of his generation. There are just way too many losses to inferior opponents. Those two early Super Bowls cover over a lot of Ben’s warts. He never really took things as seriously as he should have.
