- We met with IM Levy Rozman aka Gothamchess in Toronto, Canada for the Candidates 2024. Levy is here for the first couple of days to interview the participants of the event. On 1st of April 2024, Sagar and Levy walked through the streets of Toronto to record this podcast. It was filled with great insights, anecdotes and Levy talking about a variety of subjects - from his vision to chess, to his secret to consistency, to his wife Lucy, to Magnus Carlsen and last but not the least his predictions for the Candidates 2024.

12:50 he put my feeling into words! Like NGL, I recently started following chess, to be precise since the past 1 year or so. But one problem is, we get little info about what's happening! The information of the tournament itself do not reach people! Like this candidates, it is such an amazing thing for our players( sry guys , a little patriotism). It is such a important and beautiful phase in our player's life and 90% people in our country don't have any idea about it !
But that being said, Chess is so amazing without the attraction as well ! The game is so personal, so emotional that the space is so happy with the little and close viewers... I'm having so much in my mind that I may wrote a whole essay😂😂
I even knew it was the candidates, I just couldn't recall it in the moment. I was a little nervous...
He is the Neils Bohr of chess, summerize the whole round table of from Einstein, to Planc,and proposing a jeast at the end beautifully..... ❤❤

The difference with chess is that most people don't understand it at all and therefore they're not interested in watching other people play it. Everybody can watch a football game or a basketball game, or a fighting sport - they can understand it more easily. If you want chess to grow, you have to make people interested in actually playing it, and having fun with it, and then when they understand it better - then it becomes more interesting to watch top players compete and people will start to follow major chess events. You can't love something you don't understand.
But people are retarded. People don't understand football's offside, they will understand shit about chess. Chess all in all is very easy to get into if you are willing to stare at games for a few hours. The brain catches patterns and you understand everything better.
