In regards to Ace talking about performing with their backs turned, Ace really thinks during the 4th verse their backs were turned to the audience. He also just made up a price because Ticketmaster is a greedy organization. Ace thinks this was a great version of the song

I attended a PTX concert with a friend in November, 2022. Prices ranged from about $50 for the "nose bleed" seats (where we were) to almost $2000 for the best floor seats. TicketMaster added a $30 charge (which they did NOT disclose in advance) to the $100 I paid for the tickets.

Scott, Mitch and Kirsten all three grew up and attended high school in Arlington, Texas. Kirsten went to OU her freshman year and Scott attended USC. After their first year, they entered a show on NBC called the "Sing Off". They had Mitch, who was finishing up high school, Avi(bass) was recommended by a fried and Kevin(beat boxing) they found on TH-cam, join the group and they have been Pentatonix since.

I realize this is an older reaction so you may not see this but, the stage they were on was a circular platform in the center of the arena. It didn't matter what directiin they were facing, they were always facing the crowd. The rotating was to face the audience more not less.

Sorry Ace, they were on TV on a round stage. You were too hung up on this to enjoy the beauty of their performance. Were you Mitch slapped? I don’t think so as you were too annoyed. Did you notice how great the individual singers were or how they harmonized so well together? I doubt it since you were too annoyed. Your prolonged annoyance annoyed most of us listeners.
PTX always have a great relationship with their audience. Billboard named their Christmas tour the top Christmas act of 2022. This year they were named in the top 20 music tours in the world. They are very audience friendly. Suggest you listen to the video again with your eyes closed and get back to us. Thanks.

I have to correct Cathy. None of the singers, not even the three that are from Arlington, TX went to college at UTA (University of Texas at Arlington). Scott (first singer) and Kirstie (only girl) graduated from Martin High School in Arlington in 2010. Scott went to USC for his freshman year studying Pop Music. Kirstie went to OU her freshman year and studied Music Theater. Mitch, the last soloist, graduated from Martin High School in 2011. In fact, he missed walking across the stage for his graduation because he was on a plane to California to join the other 4 to audition for The Sing Off, which they won and kicked off their Pentatonix career. So yes they are from the same town you went to college at, but didn't attend class at UTA.

    • @heinleinreader
      @heinleinreader ปีที่แล้ว +1

She may, nonetheless, have heard them sing at UTA as the Trio because they did TH-cam and local touring at the time right before they competed. They would get together during breaks to sing as a trio on school breaks Kirstie and Scott coming home to meet up with Mitch. That is when Scott introduced Ben Bramm to Kirstie and Mitch and they signed up for SingOff 2011. They would have toured a little so she may have caught them as UTA would be a natural place to perform together.

  • @margretrosenberg420

You can see that the audience is all around the stage.
Mitch (the counter tenor) has a range of just over 6 octaves, but he's most comfortable in the higher reaches of his range.
Scott (blond baritone, first singer in this song) is six feet four inches tall, which is a foot taller than Kirstie; she wears extremely high heels to compensate. Because of this, Mitch worries that she might fall when walking down ramps and tends to grip her arm when they have to go down ramps in order to steady her.

After watching your video and reading all the comments I wanted to take a minute to mention that I have attended a lot of concerts over the years. I am 70. I recently saw Queen with Adam Lambert and at many points in the concert at least one or more of them had the back to the audience as they moved around the stage and for many it was for a considerable length of time. There was an entire section behind the stage and those were the higher priced tickets. Brian, Roger and Adam had their backs to them for the majority of the performance and not a one of us complained about it. The music was amazing and just getting to see them live was awesome. Over the years, I have seen Prince, Bob Seger, Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and many more. They all had their backs to me at some point and again, for quite a long time. I never once felt slighted as I was there for the music and not to pay attention to how they stood. IMHO anyone who can hear Mitch sing and be more concerned about which direction his back was facing is not someone I want to follow. I respectfully recommend you pay more attention to the music which is why you are making the video and why I watched in the first place.

Trust me, their live performances are more than worth the money. They don’t turn their backs on the audience. They’re so interactive with the audience. They are starting their us part of their world tour in august, see if you can get tickets. You won’t be disappointed, for a single moment. It’s a surreal experience to see them live! Please react to bohemian rhapsody and Imagine! Also when you get to their official videos you’ll maybe need to make the video a bit more transparent and pause for commentary because their label will copyright it, even though the band loves reactors. My favorite video of theirs is PopSpring 2016 (I don’t think anyone has ever gotten a copyright claim on that video because it’s not an official video). Can’t sleep love is my favorite song. Really? They have explained. I loved seeing a family reacting to something together. I think we are being a bit harsh. I love listening to PTX not only for their music but bc they promote kindness and decency to their fans. We are not representing them too well now I’m afraid. I will continue listening. You seem like wonderful people.

Scott went to the University of Southern California and Kirstie went to the University of Oklahoma (with a full ride scholarship!). Mitch joined PTX straight out of high school. They went to Martin High School, but none of them went to college in Arlington. Sorry about that.

Your concern about the cameras would be very valid if this were a concert performance. This is a T.V. recording. They put out an invitation to the public in the papers & possibly t.v. news stations. "Free tickets, first come first served". So nobody paid a penny for the tickets. They were Pentaholics, just so happy to be in the same room as Scott, Mitch, Kirsty, Kevin & Avi. You can hear their joy in their responses. No one was angry about camera angles. They knew what they were getting when they decided to come for the taping.
Also, Kirsty Maldanado went to University of Oklahoma, Avi Kaplan went to Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California, Scott Hoying went to University of Southern California, and, of course, Kevin Olusula went to Yale University. Mitch Grassi had just graduated High School.
Love seeing a young family reacting to PTX. So sweet. Loved your reaction & how you talk to each other. Looking forward to more. Thanks.

Yeah we went in blind on this, which we think gives off a more realistic reaction and not something fake so we didn't know any of that. Ace's jab about the price of tickets isn't directed at the group itself because the musicians rarely determine ticket prices. It was more at gougers like Ticketmaster. It was a great rendition for sure. We did record another Pentatonix song coming out in July, as we talked about during the spontaneous live stream tonight. We guarantee that reaction is better than the one Ace gave here

This was done as part of a Christmas special so the part with their backs to the audience was staged so that the audience was seen with the candles burning. It was done for effect. I doubt that anybody in the audience was upset and it's their opinion that counts.

When there is a backdrop behind them at the beginning of the song and by the 4th singer they are facing that backdrop with the people in the audience behind them. That's what it looked like to Ace. That does not detract from the fact that he thought it was a great rendition of the song.

They rotate like that because the leader singer for each section of the song changes and they always want them to be front and center. The audience is actually in a circumference position, not everyone is viewing them from a straightforward angle.

  • @og_swaggttv

The whole stage is surrounded by ppl. I can see ppl under that screen.. So someone is gonna end up seeing there backs.. At this point, there is no keeping that from happening cause its gonna happen with a setup in the middle where ppl can fully surround the stage... Be different if they were in a musical theater on a stage and had nothing but seats in front of them, then it would be different and wouldn't have to worry about seeing there backs
