At some point, Ren and Chinchilla found out that their mothers actually had known each other. And had even vacationed, and worked in theater together. Fate
Really?? I didn’t know that. I have found that some of the most innately talented people either come from like minded families or the polar opposite ,ie logic/ rational based professions .

Chinchilla is a rabbit hole too incl. The voice UK, I still think that her live version of "fingers" for Hunger TV is the best example of her talents so far.

What a masterpiece by Ren
Regarding the fear of feeling better, Ren talksabout the cycle he went through of starting new treatments, feeling 10% better and thinking it would be a trajectory towards getting his life back and then it all falls apart and he’s back stuck in bed and pain.
You are were on point regarding Ren and Chinchilla's connection. He's said before that she is his musical sibling. Word is that when he's done treatment in Calgary he plans to go to LA and Chinchilla recently moved there...there's also word that they will be doing more collabs in the future.

Hopefully Ren can navigate around the rot in L.A./California. L.A. is a place where most independent artists go to die, they get swallowed up by the industry. It's also one of the most expensive places to live in the country.
@@michaelbradley7529 I’m not sure if it’s a temporary thing or if he’s moving there. I know he was in talks with Netflix last year about a possible series of musical stories, I assume along the lines of the Tales of Jenny and Screech. Maybe they went for it🤷🏻♀️
He’s lived there before, he went there for stem cell therapy years ago so at least he has connections and friends there.
Personally I think moving to LA is a mistake, the place is a sess pool of depravity

@@user-um5cp2cs5j oh, I think that universal knowledge at this point, lol! Like I said, I'm not sure if he plans to live there or what...he's still young, he'll probably go as many places as he can. He's in NYC this weekend.
I would recommend listening to the studio version too. Usually I can pick a live or studio version as my preferred iteration of a song, but with these two both are incredible. The same with How To Be Me. The composition of the studio versions of the songs have a different feel to them that I think really adds to the experience.

Such a great reaction as always! I realllook forward to your reactions to Ren ❤This song to me is about how medication for psychological issues such as depression make you feel so numb that you may as well be a walking dead body (hence the Chalk Outlines) as you rightly picked up on. After watching it a few times, wondering the significance of the beginning, my conclusions were that it's as if the Ren we are seeing is Ren's 'essence' or soul hidden away by whatever pill he has had to take. As his soul walks around the recesses of his mind (the random files are like memories), you are suddenly made aware of what he his actual body is experiencing on the 'outside' (the muffled voices talking). And just to emphasise more that Ren doesn't do anything without a reason...it is speculated that the snapping of the chair that gives you a bit of a jump, is him referencing something called "cherophobia" which is literally the 'fear of feeling happy'.
Another song they did together is How to be Me and it's just as stunningly beautiful as this one❤

Ren's been dropping new music videos. All so very different. All incredible. My personal favorite is 'Back on 74 / Message in a Bottle' Retake (live). It's hyst so much fun! It will be a delightful surprise for you both. It's totally different from what he's presented previously. I highly recommend watching the ' Back to 74' by Jungle original music video (the one with dancers is PHENOMENAL). You'll get to see how Ren makes the song his own while staying true to the original's vibe.

Nice to hear how well you both interpret this video.
To start off a music video with ambient sounds and a mysterious corridor hooks the curious viewer immediately. The chair sound was a particularly interesting touch; it could have been revealed already open and waiting. Instead, the choice was specifically that the opening of the chair was highlighted.
Along with the haunting vocals, the entire video speaks about the hidden issues and how one can feel when under the spell of these medications.

And man… when you guys go down the Chinchilla rabbit hole……. I’m so jealous you have these experiences ahead of you, Chinchilla just might be the biggest star on the planet that isn’t recognised yet.
Ren often refers to her as his twin musical sister
Its live as in the audio you hear is not recorded in a studio, hes got a mic on so the audio and guitar is recorded in real time.
He adjusts the audio levels later on in editing, you can hear when Chinchilla starts to sing shes very quiet so he has to raise the volume and you get that static in yhe background.. when she gets louder that static goes.
It's very much like watching a scene from a French film........almost Avant Garde , but at the same time not
