  • There are ethnic Korean people who live in Northeastern China, at the foot of the Changbai Mountain. Korean traditional dance originated from shamanistic rituals thousands of years ago, eventually evolving into refined dances that ranged from court dances to village celebrations. Korean dance emphasizes symmetry in a very delicate and reserved manner that exudes elegance. Breath is an essential part of Korean dance. The dancer expresses inner emotions through coordination of breath and musical rhythm. Dancers also pay particular attention to maintaining roundness in form. Circular movements help give the Korean dance a transcendent, calming and dignified beauty. The dancers exude a somberness and joy in mannerism, while fluidly transitioning from motion to motion. Our dancers use bells to accent the moves and music, and are wearing long, billowing dresses called Hanbok, a traditional clothing. Please enjoy JCCC’s 11&12 year class Bells Dance performance!
