    Great video, congrats! ❤️ By what method can we calculare EF using LV diameters? And how it function this method?

    • @the_echo_lady
      @the_echo_lady  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can calculate EF by Teichholz method (using just diameters) but this only can be used if you don't have any regional wall motion abnormality (you would underestimate)... In that case is more recommended to estimate EF by Simpsons method (based on volumes and I have a video in this channel about it)... But the most accurate one is 3D

    Ok I'm confused. We were taught in school that the end diastole is when the mitral value is at it's widest opening. Please explain. Also I remember that the ekg can be used as a guide. Do you know at what place along the ekg indicates end diastole.

    • @the_echo_lady
      @the_echo_lady  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is a different ways of teaching, some structures that you can use as guide. End of diastole is at the beggining of the QRS. You can also use the LV when its bigger. Using the MV for me its tricky because the MV can be open for a while...

    • @the_echo_lady
      @the_echo_lady  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is nothing to differentiate here... LBBB sometimes is the reason to have a paradoxical septal motion.

    My left atrium is 40 mm. My cardiologist says it fine but internet tells me 39 mm is the max for women. Should I worry? My echocardiogram was 6 months after pregnancy. Can this be a cause?

    • @the_echo_lady
      @the_echo_lady  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's totally normal, with pregnancy the heart chambers get bigger to accommodate more blood... If your doctor told you if fine so just don't start to look up for things online 🤪

    Hope you’re having a good day. What would be your suggestion for a left ventricle where the basil septum is bulging say at 1.5 cm but the rest of the septum is at 0.9cm . Where would you measure IVS ?

    • @the_echo_lady
      @the_echo_lady  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello! Some people avoid the bulge and measure the septum a bit higher! And some people measure the bulge. Either way, you always have to report that the LV is normal size with a basal septal bulge seen.

      @@the_echo_lady thank you so much for your reply 🙏.

    • @glory1719
      @glory1719 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very good question. Avoid the bulge...measure higher from it. However you may show the thickness of it by using calipers as opposed to incorporating it into the measurement package.

    • @madmax6654
      @madmax6654 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@glory1719 yes, and upon further thought, WE want to rule out LVOT obstruction. When that basel septum starts getting above 1.5 cm the LVOT VTI is even more important.

    • @the_echo_lady

      Sorry I didn't understand this question. At end of diastole you get the diastolic size and at end of systole you get the systolic size.
