Fantastic! I just purchased a dual pane window and have a window from last year that hasn’t been installed yet. Looks like I will be able to claim the $600 credit on both windows if I install them before the end of the year.
Id love to know what line of work these “hypothetical “ people are in. 400k in a year. They owe more in taxes than someone making $15/hr brings home in a year.
hello! I saw that windows have to be energy star certified but didn't see anything about Insulation. Can any insulation be deducted? I installed some in my home this year
Yes, it depends - here is some more information: Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (§ 25C) This credit allows individuals to claim 30% of the costs for qualified energy efficiency improvements, residential energy property expenditures, and home energy audits, subject to certain limitations: Qualified Energy Efficiency Improvements: Building Envelope Components: Includes insulation materials, exterior windows and skylights, and exterior doors. These components must meet specific energy efficiency standards. Credit Limits: Exterior doors: 30% of costs up to $250 per door, with a total limit of $500. Exterior windows and skylights: 30% of costs up to $600. Insulation materials or systems and air sealing materials or systems: 30% of costs. Residential Energy Property Expenditures: Includes central air conditioners, natural gas, propane, or oil water heaters, furnaces, hot water boilers, electric or natural gas heat pumps, and biomass stoves or boilers. Credit Limits: $600 per item for most residential energy property. $2,000 aggregate limit for electric or natural gas heat pump water heaters, electric or natural gas heat pumps, and biomass stoves or boilers.
@ yes I read that on their website. Doesn’t say it has to be a specified brand or certified like windows do for the insulation write off correct? And thank you for responding!
I replaced my furnace in 2022, how I do add that to my tax credit on the 5695? I have the certificate from my contractor and it’s 95.0 AFUE, so I think it would qualify, I’m just not sure how to correctly document
Good question - see link below with more details - but the credit should be used on the primary residence. www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/frequently-asked-questions-about-energy-efficient-home-improvements-and-residential-clean-energy-property-credits-qualifying-residence
Ferris Bueller is a fictional character in the movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” and his social security number is obviously made up because it’s just the numbers 1-9.

Glad it helped!

I have the same question. Please reply to @cassiealexis7850
Are you allowed to claim this energy credit for a rental property? Or only the property where you live? thanks

Please tell me this is fake because you just put all these peoples names including their daughter and son’s Social Security numbers right on TH-cam?
Ferris Bueller is a fictional character in the movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” and his social security number is obviously made up because it’s just the numbers 1-9.
the names are from the very popular 80's film "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and the SSN's are 123456789 and such ....
