The look he gives before Crazy Joe goes down is apex acting. This entire movie was pure fiction but that doesn't mean it wasnt a great movie. Only issue is with an 80 year old DeNiro trying to play a 24 year old but it is what it is.

Of the music- remember hearing this sorta weird recording playing a lot in 1968 or 69 on the old folks' local FM station. Back then I hadn't even known for very long what a harpsichord is. I knew of it mainly from the Adams Family tv theme song; a little lesser-so from classical FM.

Soundtrack here is a creation of Waldyr Azevedo, on his “ Delivado “. A Brazilian old musical genre from the 40’s known as Chorinho . Percy Faith may appropriate upon his arrangement, but Waldyr is the one who conceived, for the record.
Chorinho genre is easy to detect by a trained hear. Elaborate string arrangements, one of the instruments will be a small guitar known as “cavaquinho “ , the others being clarinets or straight flute.
Rio and São Paulo produced most of the playing talent and composers. The late Pixinguinha is the most exponential musical genius of all.
Albeit sounding like Chamber Music , the best interpreters became popularized through live radio musical programs. And composed and jammed on working class streetside cafes.

Amir's Homes Hamilton I don’t think it’s really that important to the story so I don’t think there’s really a need to show such a violent hit for no reason. Also irl when he was whacked he could see his own reflection in the mirror and started to try and fight the guys but instead just attacked their reflections; I think that would be quite hard to show on screen.

Didn't have to. This is far more cinematic. The climax of Percy Faith's Delicado while the camera zooms in on the florist while you hear the gun shots...... epic movie making. Simply showing the hit is boring and done out a million times.

In real life Albert Anastasia was killed on orders from Vito Genovese and Carlo Gambino. Carlo Gambino eventually took over as Boss of the family. The suspected killers were Joey Gallo and Carmine Persico often proclaimed he was part of the hit team.

I stopped watching The Irishman after 15mins. Possibly the cr@piest and creepiest movie I ever (partially) saw. The CGI ruined it all plus putting de niro who's waaaay past his time and plays 'tough characters' in the movies but in real life is just a jellyfish didn't help either. There you have it.

Ok movie. 98% fiction. Got the love it got because of the director, and main actors. Its like the bible, with a smidge of the Quran thrown in. That all equals……most of the humans portrayed in the movie existed at one time….Theres your 2%. The other 98% is a story told by a dying Irish gangster trying to leave a nest egg for his children. He fabricated most of what he spoke about. Trust me, when I first read ‘I hear you paint houses’…..I was enthralled! Couldn’t believe this mystery had finally been solved!! And then reality set in when I learned of how Joe Gallo was really killed. A hit that has been proven to not have been carried out by Sheeran. It was a good read. But fiction. Brandt must have known this. The pay check was too big to turn down, no doubt.
