    =============================
    Automation and Internet Cloud Computing are evolving and merging into a space allowing for Artificial Intelligence (AI) programming to facilitate improvements in productivity and efficiency with many economic benefits.
    Along with Internet Cloud computing and other advancements with the Internet, we are now in the middle of the next industrial revolution mining and turning data into information.
    This period of evolution is called Industry 4.0 or the Fourth Industrial Revolution which includes the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Digital Transformation mechanisms that facilitate this evolved 4th generation period of Automation.
    While the Industrial Internet of Things does fall under the Internet of Things (IoT) area of influence, the key difference is IIoT concentrates on the connection of machines and devices in industries like manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics.
    IoT is commonly used to define consumer-based devices like Fitbits, and a wide range of smart home devices.
    IIoT is about getting information that every single consumer need in their hands when they want it and Digital transformation is the digitization of a business in how we must move to a unified organize data space using the International Society of Automation standard for developing an automated interface between enterprise and control systems or ISA95.
    The Industrial Internet of Things is all about interconnected instruments, sensors, and many other devices that are networked together and communicating with computer-driven industrial applications for many manufacturing and energy management areas of business.
    IIoT is an evolution of a control system that allows for a significant improvement in automation by using cloud computing to enhance and optimize process controls.
    Industrial IoT depends on many technologies but the key technologies primarily consist of Artificial intelligence, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, Edge computing, and Data Mining.
    1) Artificial intelligence or (AI) and machine learning or (ML) are fields that are part of computer science.
    2) Cybersecurity technology becomes an important basic platform for IoT and IIoT enabling disconnected machines to physically connect and communicate in a secure method.
    3) Cloud computing is basically using IT services and the files to be uploaded and downloaded from Internet-based servers.
    4) Edge computing is a distributed computing model bringing data storage closer to the location where it is needed and optimizes sensors, industrial computers, and devices that are part of the IIoT system for publishing and consuming data for faster processing.
    5) Data mining and analytics are about collating and examining large amounts of data stored from various parts of the enterprise.
    Companies want to be more competitive, increase efficiency with just-in-time manufacturing in meeting higher customer demand with better inventory control. We can do all of this with the creation of the organizations’ overall automation a digital twin.
    A digital twin is a virtual representation referring to a digital replication of the actual companies’ physical assets, processes in place, automation systems, and devices. The twin uses real-time data to enable learning and reasoning for improved decision making.
    While we may benefit from a long list of benefits through the IIoT transformation, there are some concerns and risks we should be aware of.
    Some of the potential risks of adopting IIoT are the expense of cost of data integration, lack of experience, and difficulty of implementation, and the devastating cyber threats.
    In the long term, IIoT could more than pay for itself, but many organizations are still justifiably concerned about investing so much in IIoT.
    On the bright side, the benefits of IIoT in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, mining, Oil and Gas, and retail are gaining ground and many companies are embracing this new paradigm for solutions in optimizing operations and personnel productivity.

    I have a few questions I wanted to ask.
    1. What are the potential cyber threats to IIOT?
    2. Where does data analytics fit in the pyramid that was shown in 7:03?
    3. Can we initiate the IIOT as a standalone monitoring system? Is it profitable for the client?
    4. How about manufacturing equipment that do not have PLC integration. How do we collect data from those?
    5. What is the average ROI for a typical IIOT deployment on used cases?
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your suggestion, and it will be passed on to our developer team. On a related note, IIoT is much more than AI/ML and represents the infrastructure required for an AI/ML computing environment. • @realpars

      Edge computing is concerned with bringing data storage and analysis closer to the unit operations o reduce latency time. Edge computing is a structural network paradigm and has grown to encompass several definitions. The critical consideration is that when cloud computing is involved, care must be taken to ensure that the network design minimizes data store and fetch times so that calculations, analysis, and other tasks are not adversely affected.

      IIoT is not a piece of hardware or a product with a model number. It is an approach to collecting and disseminating data throughout the organization. If you want to investigate IIoT and how a simple system can be constructed, you can purchase the PLCNext Starter Kit from marketplace.realpars.com and use free NodeRed software to create applications that can obtain data from the PLCNext system and store data in the cloud. You will only need to provide your own cloud storage site (Google Cloud, etc.).

      Hamed, in my opinion, the main difference when considering IoT in Home Automation, that is at some level compared with IIoT, is the lack of a real standard (once we have zigbee, zwave, wifi, bluetooth, enocean, etc...) and the decision maker is most of the time a non expert homeowner, that does not have all the concerns/knowledge about security issues.

      Realpars is currently developing videos focusing on IIOT. A couple are available already at learn.realpars.com. There is a blog post available at realpars.com/iiot/. These courses are excellent to become familiar with the basics of IIOT.
      This still a relatively new field. Be careful; IIOT is a concept that means a lot of different things to different people. A good understanding of IIOT requires a solid foundation in networks, cybersecurity, communication protocols, and simulations. Robotics, "big data", cloud computing, and additive manufacturing are also pertinent topics for IIOT.

      Prehaps. FIS refers to an approach for generating and sharing data and information (the "what")at the factory floor level. IIoT refers to the structure by which such data and information travels (the "how) between the points of generation (providers) and the users (consumers) of the data and information.

      The second question may be addressed by a few questions regarding company technical capabilities and resources also outlined in the above website listing example. IIoT is new to many companies and there are just a few qualified Integration Companies involved.

      IIoT is a collection of Technolgies that work together to efficiently move data from where it is produced to where it is needed. A thorough understanding of plant-level sensors and devices, OT/automation networks, network devices, communication protocols (OPC-UA, MQTT, etc.), edge computing, and cloud structures would be a good place to start. Realpars is a good place to start for training for the automation related topics. Other platforms, such as Coursera and others can help with the networking and cloud topics.

    What is the difference between IIoT and SCADA? I think this is one of the concerns of investing in IIoT as it looks like that SCADA can do what IIoT can. It is like the additional performance is not worth the investment.

    • @wgastreich

      Hello Jason, at time 6:46 in the video, I briefly provide an answer to this very good and often asked question. IIOT addresses all aspects of the Automation Pyramid, starting at the plant floor sensors through SCADA to ERP data areas. It suggests all of these layers have a common protocol communicating to a common data source and then expands into new objectives using machine learning, data science, and real-time analytics. I hope this helps.

      depents of the protocol, but they still working on it, that is why not all the companys take that risk, the main strength of IIOT is realtime update MQTT is well Know for it if you add more security than TLS OR SSL and more user autentifications code is not gonna be lightweigt, but AVEVA of Schneider, ABB ac500, Yokowaga, Siemens and Ewon they have IIOT as a service so, i still belive that as the market grow more effords will be made in order to protect fron cyber attack so there is always good to give the chance to IIOT and see whats IIOT in 2021 is gonna bring us, in the worst case you could use in no critical process of your plant and helps you to replace MOXA equitment.

    What is the difference between IIoT and OT (Operational Technology)? Are they the same thing?

    • @realpars
      @realpars  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for your inquiry. As mentioned in our video, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) represents a cutting-edge fourth-generation automation system that focuses on linking machines and devices within industries such as manufacturing. According to various sources online, "OT" refers to the utilization of hardware and software to manage industrial equipment. Hence, while IIoT falls within the scope of the OT definition, it is distinct from OT, which may encompass IIoT within its framework.
      We hope this information contributes to your learning journey with RealPars!

    Very Nice presentation. Thank you. This is very timely for what my client has created with for the DoD over the several years. As you probably know, the US Department of Defense (DoD) gave to the world INDUSTRY 4.0 by inventing the TRANSISTOR in the 1940's and the INTERNET within a couple of decades later. Then, they realized INDUSTRY 4.0's shortcomings and delivered the BluEdge (code name) technology because they needed a software architecture with autonomous & intelligent "bottom-up" computing at the "Edge of the Cloud". This enabled to address and resolve INDUSTRY's 4.0 conundrum. That is, "top-down" controlled networks & protocols within an exploding number of smart devices generating data with no ability to support "Bottom-Up" solutions. This is a significant conundrum that is bound to haunt INDUSTRY 4.0 as its use is spread by the undergoing developments in the industry at the present time. However, this can be avoided if BluEdge's generation of intelligent swarming swarming networks will be used. BluEdge's swarming networks, when used by conventional "top-down" controlled networks, will be able to supply "bottom-up" solutions autonomously. In essence, such swarming networks will augment the conventional networks in their mission with limited and vital data related to unpredictable last moment events. This will be similar to what swarms of nature do.

    So IIoT is just SCADA with Wi-Fi?

    • @wgastreich
      @wgastreich 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello RightNow. IIoT using SCADA data derived from the cloud, I get what you are asking., but It's much more. It's a new generation or evolution of the way things are interconnected and how data is collected, analyzed, and interchanged for automation in a common data namespace where PLC/HMI, SCADA, MES, ERP, and Cloud exchange data and where cloud AI functions generate new programming for the plant floor to help optimize product efficiency - digital transformation. It is referred to as Industry 4.0 in Europe or Fourth Industrial Revolution. See, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourth_Industrial_Revolution#Third_Industrial_Revolution more about where we were and where we are today with IIoT.

    what equipment and software would be used to perform an IIoT installation?

    • @realpars
      @realpars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      IIoT is a design strategy built around ethernet (and internet) connected devices. So to answer your question, a complete IIoT installation would include sensors, controllers, and computers that can be connected via TCP/IP interfaces. These connections require network switches and other devices designed to create a secure network infrastructure. Software requirements range from that required to program the logic in the controllers, communication interfaces (like OPC UA, MQTT, etc.), and data acquisition, visualization, and analysis software.
