Pallets from other countries can often be made of exotic wood. Right now I have some boards that are heavy as iron and just as hard that came from a Pallet. Also, leftover hard wood flooring is good.

Hahahah man! Im scrounging at home trying to get some kind of wood that's acceptable for this tiny skinning knife i made. Seeing you open up your cabinet of handle material made me laugh hahaha
We’ll certainly for a full tang knife it really needs to be dry. Any moisture will allow it to move mostly shrink when on the knife. Making it uncomfortable in the hand. Best it’s super dry and expands with oil or slight moisture as this won’t expose the sharp edges of the tang. Hope that helps and makes sense. cheers, Ben

The wood moisture is always measured at right angles to the wood grain. Not lengthwise to the wood.
