Thats really tough if you’re not on the same page regarding financial goals as your spouse. I would make sure to have an honest and open conversation about finances before entering in a commitment. So many marriages fail because of finances unfortunately

Yes, because you are married. You are one team. Both of you are up to date and both are a part of making the decisions.
Things that matter more (in my opinion):
-Do you each spend the same number of hours working?
-Do you each spend the same number of hours doing household chores?
-Do you each have the same budget for discretionary non-essential spending?
If you both are working just as hard and neither of you are spending more than the other on non-essentials, then it shouldn't matter how much your actual incomes are and/or how much of the essentials you each pay for.
If you are working harder and are frugal and she works less and likes to spend money left and right, then yes I can understand your frusteration.
Either way, you both should not have gotten married when you did. This should have been a conversation prior to the marriage. Good luck.

Sometimes having the “free spirit” be the one in charge of all of the spending on necessities helps. When we see the money leave accounts to pay all the bills, everything more than a need feels like a a bad decision. The “nerd” gets the responsibility to pay off debt and invest, because they find reward in the game. This works when you have the end goal of comfortable retirement.
Would only work if the “free spirit” is willing to commit to a budget. This chick won’t!
