  • How to launch Meraki my trailer sailer solo! Setting Meraki up solo was easier then I thought but that was mostly down to trial and error from the times before with help. This is also the start to my first solo adventure on Meraki. (find the blooper!)

    This is just the type of trailer sailer I'm wanting, I like the bilge keels over the center board as no keel box in the cabin and they get jammed up when beaching etc. People say to me "oh bilge keelers are slow etc" my reply is I'm not racing around the buoys, I just want a sea worthy, easy to deal with fun boat. Good luck with it all

      I agree! I would also say a bilge keeler isn’t as slow as everyone seems to think. I did the round the island race and was passing 40ft boats upwind on a beat! I definitely recommend one!

    Hi Alex - on my Alberg 22 my friend made up a system with a roller (from a trailer) to allow the mast to be easily moved back. It allows me to pick up the mast (closer to the foot of the mast) and roll it back on the roller then drop the foot into the base.The roller has been attached to a plywood "deck" that attaches to the top of the pushpit. it works pretty well.

      I have made a similar upgrade recently! Works really well!

    You make it look easy. The only possible suggestion would be some cables to hold your cross piece in place while you are sliding your mask up so your not having to go back and forth. Well done as usual.

      I’m thinking I might add a roller support so I only have to push it back!

    Thats a crazy trailer man! perfect for the double keel. My father owned one in Annapolis for a few years before he had to pass it on in old age about 25 yrs or so ago but it was as stable as they come and apparently had come from the English channel.

      Double trailer and keels are better than a simple one. Congratulations from the North of Spain.

    I put two folding D rings on the mast, and two on the deck, and then use the cam type cargo straps to steady the mast on the way up and down. You seem to have an abundance, so no extra gear to carry.
    I can't believe that gadget man doesn't have a loos gauge. You have everything else. 😁

    • @AlexGoesSailing
      @AlexGoesSailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chuckrobinson599 maybe I should one up you with built in loading gauges that can automatically adjust for the correct rig tension! Then again that would probably coast 100 times of what the boat is worth 😂

    Never seen a trailer like that in Australia. Essentially it is two trailers with the first on-road trailer having the brakes and suspension which never go near the water.Second trailer is more of what I would call dolly with no suspension or brakes.
    The first trailer is probably not even special purpose for boats but could be used to move cars around. Interesting. Bit complex but at least it stops your suspension, brakes and primary wheel bearings rusting.

    • @AlexGoesSailing
      @AlexGoesSailing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly! Unconventional but is a wonderful setup with many benefits. Saving the brakes is a big plus!

    I got tired watching you go through all that. I can be on the water in less than an hour setting up my 24 ft trailer sailor. Suggest a roller device on your cross beams so when taking your mast back to the mast step you don't have to keep going back and adjusting. Only good thing is a day on the water is better than a day in the office.

    • @AlexGoesSailing
