Still a beautiful island, but it's impossible to compare it with what Koh Phi Phi was in the 80s and before. At that time there was only one small bungalow hotel at the Ton Sai beach and from there you could see the Log Dalum beach with only palm trees in between. Nothing else, besides some local fishermen and a few day tourist. I used to take groups of tourists for a few hours visit 2-3 times a week and occasionally I was able to spend the night in a bungalow. I went back to the islands for the first time in 36 years last weekend and when I got off the ferry I almost cried. The level of destruction is just unbelievable. It has been an incredible privilege to see a slice of paradise on earth that doesn't exist anymore. For me it was the most incredible place on earth.
