Stephen A you missed a few key points. That TNT crew really seems to be a family, which is something that no one has ever said about ESPN’s coverage.
From underdog to the rest of the guys, we’ve gotten a chance to meet members of the crew via screen time. ESPN’s coverage has never and will never replicate TNT’s nor will NBC’s future coverage, which will probably be better than ESPN, but will have to still rely on being more “corporate.” ITB felt like a late night show. Opportunities may exist for the crew elsewhere, but that doesn’t mean the chemistry will follow… in fact, those guys are more likely to be swallowed up by the pre-existing cultures of the other networks.
Secondly, I’d assume the crew of ITB were local… ESPN’s coverage is based out of NY and LA and NBC’s used to be from NY… so now we’re talking about uprooting families. This isn’t about money, it’s about what they built, whom they built it with, and everything that comes with it being dismantled. Don’t get this twisted with straight business, Stephen A.

Major League Soccer as well, with Apple TV. And also, the National Hockey League. For the NHL, they put games that are out of its team's respective local markets on ESPN+.
For example. The New York Rangers & New York Islanders. Aside from National Broadcasts, their games are on TV only for the New York market area. For everyone outside of that (ex. San Francisco Bay Area) they're only streamed on ESPN+.
And even then, some games are *exclusively* streamed on ESPN+. Even for the team's local market. It's maddening.

This is karma from what AOL-Time Warner did to World Champion Wrestling (WCW) in 2001.
Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD) loosing the National Basketball Association (NBA) will ultimately hurt the network. WBD may taking the NBA to court, with WBD recently matching the amount Amazon is willing pay, despite the NBA still wanting to move forward with Amazon.
A strange as it is, this is similar to what happened in 2001, after Ted Turner merged his Tuner Sports with AOL Time-Warner (Ted Turner later regretted the merger), which AOL Time-Warner essentially ran Ted Turner out of his own company, and sold World Championship Wrestling to World Wrestling Federation owner Vince McMahon, despite other offers from WCW executive Eric Bischoff.
Fast forward to 2024, is the NBA is truly gone from WBD, WBD can focus on Shahid & Tony Khan's All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

I really hate this, but this is at least good news for Tony Khan and AEW, because Turner is really going to need live programming outside of the NHL now.

Clearly Charles Barkley has not been paying attention to what professional sports owners have been doing the last 40 years. Professional sports owners are owning teams to make a PROFIT not to do what is fair. There are plenty of examples of professional sports owners and commissioners putting money over fans.

Valid points if Chuck was talking about himself, Ernie and Chuck missing out on money he’s talking about the people that work in their studio being let go because of TNT’s incompetence and he’s just lashing out. That’s all. I’m pretty sure he actually cares about his staff. that’s what he’s talking about. He’s not talking about himself either way Charles Ernie Chuck and Shaq will be perfectly fine financially with or without the inside of the NBA after next year I think they’ll be fine. It’s everybody that’s worked on that show 20+ years that’s gonna be out of job all of a sudden next year potentially

How does the NBA have the best fans of all sports ? I think European football ( soccer ) many times has way better fans. NBA fans many times are bandwagon, attendance is not even that high and unlike NBA fans who get entertained by the half time show, organ players in the stadium and t-shirts being shot towards the crowd european football fans dont need any of that.. they are the ones creating the atmosphere.
