    So, after 25 some years of not having put a trumpet to my lips, I had this impulse to buy a horn after hearing "Baby Elephant Walk" and having a flash back to high school jazz band. So now i gotta relearn how to play again. I enjoyed the hell outta playing trumpet, but after it was stolen from me i never got another one until two days ago.
    I will for sure be buying one of these so that i can practice whether i so choose/have extra free time.
    Thank you to the geniuses that created this little gem of tech!

    I'm going to buy one of these online.. but I have to mention this: That sweet guy playing the trombone at 2:25 had me laughing so much.. he barely got 2 notes out and was so astonished.. most of the reactions in this video just tickled me.. but I was browsing for a good mute.. and this is exactly what I'm looking for.. great reviews! I got all my questions answered just by listening to them... and all well- conditioned players so they know what they are talking about, I would feel very comfortable buying this product!

    Wish they got it right the first time. I have the old version and it isn't good for much other than a warmup mute.

    Wouldn't it be a bit awkward for french horn players because they have their hand up the bell where the mute is?

    I'm wondering if an external soundcard can be used to amplify the cornet by plugging the minijack into it?
    Or is there software inside the little box that simulates the sound?
    I have a Line6 UX1 (with an adapter for minijack to bigger jack)

    hi I'm a beginner trumpet player. and have just bought the silent brass, because I'm a bit embarrassed to practise playing the very lite basic I can, in my small apartment. so far I'm just getting comfortable with the lower notes, like low c d e f and g. and without the silent brass I feel like they sound somewhat OK. but as soon I punt on the mute, the tones sound very of and flat an very "buzzingy". like on the C it just sound like I'm doing a bad farting sound. any tips for me ?? to make it sound like actual notes ??

      you can actually record on this mute. Maybe upload a video so we can hear you, better than reading descriptions.

    Hi there, Is it possible to plug the pick up mute directly into say a di/ interface/ fx unit/ mixing desk like a normal dynamic mic or does it need to be powered by the personal studio?

    I one time heard some guy say that kids are spoiled with stuff like this and I scoffed. I hate people that like to reminisce and recall the "old times" and are total hardheads about everything else. The guy didn't ever try one either.

      a mute for each hole? :-P

    • @ezraseelaus
      @ezraseelaus 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since the air is venting out from the holes in the instrument, you would have to plug up every hole, making the instrument unplayable.

    Can you record audio from it like an impromptu mic?

    • @calebginsberg5224
      @calebginsberg5224 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Flaming Moose yes, the audio quality is superb, you can hook the silent brass thing to almost anything

    • @TheBiggRiggz
      @TheBiggRiggz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you would just need the double-male lead. One end plugs into the device, the other into your PA or other recording device. Could prolly plug it into your cell phone if you wanted

    • @CaptainGanymede
      @CaptainGanymede 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Look into an Electronic Wind Instrument! They're more in line with what you'll be able to use

    • @icyguys
      @icyguys 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, the thing is, if you plug the bell of the saxophone up, it will not work because like many woodwind instruments, the sound travels through the many different holes in the instrument (like the ones under the keys, if that’s a good way to explain it). So plugging up the bell won’t do much. They do make saxophone mutes which cover up the whole saxophone but they’re very expensive unfortunately.

    It may be new, but all those trailing wires bleargh! Have Yamaha never heard of Bluetooth? I bet you still have to put batteries in it. It's not new, it's just a rehash. I don't like it. I've got one, and I don't use it.

      Sgt. Anarchy you're not supposed to puff your cheeks either, but famous players like Louis Armstrong did anyway but they still sound great. It's not about posture or anything. None of that matters if you're a professional and know that it will not affect your playing.
