- Another day out gathering Kai moana for Creating space Whangarei, after a midday launch I pedal up the coast and lo and behold I find a 10 dollar note floating in the ocean!
The day continues with some spearfishing for snapper and grabbing crayfish in super shallow water, in fact sometimes so shallow that I don't even have to dive for them!
I finish the day pedalling back to the beach with a beautiful sunset in the background...

Asking from NSW Australia, what temperature do you dive in when you find crays that shallow? If I can match the water temp I'll have a much better chance at finding one
I'm not sure of the temp but usually find that in may/june is when they come into the shallows to breed before the females go into berry. Cheers!!!

Yes I did need to smash that many, in-fact it would better if I smashed a lot more, there are way too many around, if they keep multiplying then we will end up with kina barrens everywhere and then there is not enough food for them so they dont grow big enough to eat. Oh and by the way I do eat them but the skinny little ones in this spot are not very tasty compared to a nice fat one from somewhere better...
