It may seem a left-handed compliment to say that here Schumann sounds natural and utterly unaffected, but are you as tired as I am of hearing pianists (and singers) so often strive for innigkeit, alienation and despair? Yes, Clara was disturbed by some of her husband’s strangeness. Who wouldn’t be? But she also knew him to be - and Robert knew himself to be - a free spirit and lyricist. De Brunhoff is marvelous. Thank you for posting.
Certainly, my friend. But De Brunhoff is tapping into something too often overlooked: innocence. I hesitate to say that because the Babar connection (and his later religious vocation) make the comment facile and obvious. Yet for me it’s true, and true to Schumann.
Nothing compares tô Thierry 's performance
Such pure and controlled playing, so musical and meaningful, what a treat this is. Thank you.

Jack Atherton it’s his strangeness that makes his music so beautiful, so memorable- don’t you think?

This is wonderful. Why can't pianists give this cycle a feeling like this nowadays.
Thyerry , tu genio y habilidad te permitieron darle vida y jugar con tu Goliat y ser un prodigiso pianista para la humanidad gracias por eso AS
a great pianist unfairly forgotten
Not forgotten by me!
His making unfortunately!
Meravellós. Poesia en estat pur.
Pure! Great!
He uses the pedal sparingly.
Babar is alive
Je pense qu’il était plus doué pour le clavier que pour enluminer des manuscrits. Quelle perte! Son toucher est superbe…

Rhythmically idiosyncratic in the extreme.
I tested that statement with my metronome. Statement was incorrect.
