This was great! I’ve been lucky so far and haven’t broken a string although they are getting rusty so it’s just a matter of time (we live on the Gulf coast of Texas) but I am well prepared now thanks to you❤ be blessed my friend!!
Iv built a few cajons for myself and friends now, with guitar strings and snare wires. Guitar strings sound nice if you get it right, I make mine very similar to how your cajons designed except I fit dampers to stop strings ringing. Since making my first cajon Iv got hooked and just love them, I’m currently making an on/off switchable cajon that can be built up to take a flat cajon snare and kick pedal that all comes off of the main kick cajon so it packs nice for travel so no snare or hat stands will need to be packed. All that sounds so confusing 😂 your cajon is very well built, the joins are nicely made and the string adjusters are well thought out. Good on you for having a go at changing the strings. I hope you’ve got it all set up how you like it now.
How do you fit dampers - I have a meinl cajon with strings but they produce a fairly nasty harmonic after a hit. I don't think it used to do it though - is there a possibility that a damper might have dislodged or do the strings wear out?
I own an LP Americana cajon that has a similar setup for the tensioning of the strings. It has a really weak snap though-since it only has 4 strings across the back of the faceplate. My professional cajon has two sets of ten “strings” made of hand coiled stainless steel wire. It has a glorious snap tone. I’m hoping to add more loops of string on both sides to get that pronounced snappy tone. After my gear got stolen from my car in 2015, I had to quickly buy new equipment and the first cajon that was readily available was that one. I have since bought three other cajons: the Meinl Cantiña (2 sets of 8 strings), the Meinl Seguiriya (2 sets of 8 strings), and a Pepote profesional (2 sets of 10 strings). The LP Americana has a deep bass tone but the snap is quite weak. I’ll probably MacGyver some way to get more strings in there. Thanks for the video-your cameraman needs to not breathe so hard near the phone-it’s being picked up!
I try using threaded inserts for tapa screws because wood screws eventually have to be replaced with next size up if over tightened . The screws are not just for repair of snares but also to slightly loosen to change highs mids an lows sounds
ive got a bb meinl cajon with snare but have snapped a snare string. does it matter what type of string you replace with? MEINL CAJ300BU-M 30th Anniversary Bubinga Cajon
What's hard to watch? Place your screws in a coffee-cup or on a towel instead of losing them. Try to remember what fits with what instead of losing track. I do surgery on mixing-boards sometimes.
Lol a fifty dollar kits Cajon usually has screw on tapa a seventy dollars an up cajon also has screw on tapa some six hundred dollars ones are nailed an glued on reason for that is when tapa wears out they don’t realize it still can be replaced an buy a new one or just quit playing all together .
Long video, but it's great if you wanna change your strings with me with this video! Hope you enjoy it! ❤

Thank you for helping out Germany with our utter abundance of traffic signs. No turning back now!
14:28 Cajon gets opened. The gist of the part before: Unscrewing the screws. It's an incredible journey.
Thank you for your sense of humour, and not minding the odd 'oh woops' moment. Very entertaining.
I'm in the process of sketching out a build of my own flamenco style cajon, and this was EXTREEMLY helpful! 💯
Simple rule for direction to turn screws or bolts: Lefty Loosy, Righty Tighty. (Clockwise to tighten, counterclockwise to loosen)
Toujours un plaisir de vous écoutez 😊👌🪘🎵🎶🪛
I love the encouraging reminder of God's love on the wall, sis.
“Forget I said that”…..I love it! 🤣🤣🤣 Seriously though, good stuff!

I love how this also demonstrates the ingenuity of the design and the quality of the build of this Cajon. Are all models like this one?
Very similar with small differences... basically they’re all awesome 😜
I just wanted to see her “ cajons “
Seriously Heidi , I do like that stuff.😅

Apparently Darth Vader was filming ... 😳

I got a unit that needs installing. Can you pull any strings?
Hi Heidi, Kyle here from Cape Town South Africa. I want to know is it possible to buy a loose replacement plate and put it on any same size cajon?
Gracias por compartir
Bravo!!!

Thank you for the demonstration.
Just one thing - is this other string broken in the bottom? I can see it on 27:56. Or should it be like this?
Are the strings Nylon or wound ? Thanks , great video.
Goodjob
Guitar/bass player here thinking of picking up cajons solely so I don't have to change strings. Well there goes my hope.
Holy smokes, I didn't know cajons had wires 🤯😂🤷♂️

Might I suggest a t-handle screwdriver? Also, your next video comes up as "unavailable".
Now we know what is in the box .. and it is not a musical rattlesnake 🤪
Punto uno no sé nada de cajones, punto dos no sabes los sentidos de los tornillos.
Warum ein deutsches Schild im Hintergrund? Keine Wendemöglichkeit 😂 hat das Ende Bedeutung?
It means exactly what it says 😂😂😂
