I’m 99% sure I pronounced all of the words correctly! Shoutout to Krystal for helping me with them 🙏🏻 Also whoever disliked this video I hope things get better for you
don't worry about the pronunciation bro, the amount of effort is what matters and you gave it 110%. Nobody can expect someone from another country to have 100% accuracy with pronunciation of a foreign language. Top effort man.
Lol. When I was watching you eating that fried bread, I was screaming at my screen "AW, THERE'S SOME CREAMED PAUA RIGHT THERE!!! STICK YOUR BREAD IN IT, FFS!!!!". Then you finally dipped it in there .... "YES!!! NOW YOU'RE TALKING!!!!". Fried bread and creamed Paua is the MEANEST. And the best breakfast by far ... all the left over Hangi chopped up (mean, veges, stuffing, everything) and fried up with chopped onions ... serve with a bread and a cup of tea. MEAN.
If ya on the Goldie there's a place called Hangi Pitt, awesome as,or Kararah market's theres a Kiwi food place, Run by a Chinese guy married to a Maori Lady from Turangi 😅,food is awesome as well,
Hi new friend. I haven’t tried the Hangi. I look forward to trying it the next time I visit New Zealand. Food looks on point. Very entertaining. Stay blessed 🙏🏾😍💕
Try the raw fish nek time, thanks for your review my mouth is watering! I make a mean boil up myself, but like sausage sizzles it's more enjoyable when someone else makes it.
thanks mitch heaps of respect from this maori for that review - hangi, seafood, fried bread .. yea boi .. takes a bit of work ... but maaaatteee is it worth it
I've never been there but grown up with my kuia I learnt how to make boil up and fried bread (parawa parae) and rewana bread and doing hangis at the marae was normal
Hahaha I’ve always passed on it because the brown bottle gives me like ginger beer vibes and that’s never my first preference I’m out from under the rock and ready to drink more of it! Glad you like this style of video, would love to sprinkle one of these every few weeks
By the way I cooked a boil up over that rainy weekend and it took me all the way back home and to heaven. Seriously people pay $$ for broth in health food stores and I literally felt healthier for eating it 3 days straight lol.
It all looks delicious. I've never seen a hungi look like that, i was wondering what that stuff was all over it, not very traditional, I do feel it's good everyone brings there own flavours and take on foods, even though I prefer a hungi not over powered in herbs or spices. It's a shame the boil up is more bone than meat, well that is what it looked like to me, hopefully you got a potato in there :D
Yes because when the butchers are boning out the pork they’re trying to remove as much meat as they can and what’s left are these bones, and the reason we use the offcuts in a boil up is simple……because they’re cheap and can feed whole families. The worse the butcher, the more meat you get on these bones😂
Lemon & Paeroa. Lemon & Spring water from Paeroa - back in the day. Now it's made in Auckland by Coca Cola so there's actually no Paeroa spring water in it. Idk how much electric puha you'd have to smoke to think it was Pear but no.
Crack me up. All the kids just eat bowls of stuffing. Hint with that boil up. You gotta put it all on the fork not one part at a time a mix of watercress meat veges drop in your broth and yummy!
I know it's blasphemy to connoisseurs of fine whiskey, me included, but if you must have a mixer, especially for the bottom shelf across the bar stuff then L and P is my go to mixer. (But honestly, AAARRRHHHHH...!!!) Then chased down with a boilup.
What is it your eating Mitch island food or Maori food, and it’s not cream power ask some mozzies they maybe able to help you pronounce some of these Maori words.
The only thing traditional is the hole in the ground as over here in NZ the Hangi is a joke ALL the meat is brought in by the europeans, ie Lamb, pork, chicken, beef, venison, then they use railway iron, metal cages, sacking that goes on top the list goes on.
I’m 99% sure I pronounced all of the words correctly!
Shoutout to Krystal for helping me with them 🙏🏻

Giving it a go is better than getting it correct. (But nailed it btw)
Awesome brother you did a perfect pronunciation (ngamihi) which mean lots of acknowledgement to you🙏
Bro when you dipped the fried bread into the creamed paua you actually unlocked a way into Maori hearts without knowing it. Lol
Straight up bro😂
Yea I'm so glad you did that
Not me yelling at the screen "dip that shxt in the paua" can't imagine the relief 😂😂
Am i the only one that went YEAH when he dipped the fried bread in the paua 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha the ultimate combo
I literally jumped up and down on my bed like a 4 year old
and the flies on his food lol
Hahahaha yes I did, I was wishing he would dunk it in and pure happiness when he did😂😂😂😂
I literally said now dip it 🤌🤌

it doesn't take long for people to make the connection between fried bread and the creamed paua, but when they do they never forget it haha.
Dang that's a combo right there 🤤😋
Great review. Glad I checked it out and have subscribed because I really liked how you described the experience.

Great review bro.. Here in Aotearoa NZ, we still have plenty of people who practice this awesome way of cooking.. Kapai you for promoting it!!

😂😂😂
it's not Island food. Boil up with dough boys, creamed paua, fry bread and hangi are all Maori cuisine.
Anyone else notice the fly going ham on the hangi aswell
Us Māoris relate when you said if you have no teeth 😂😂 That was my nan all over
If anyone didnt know this is located in Zilmere, right next door to tha train station...
Hangi is One Kai That Aussies Can't claim That Kai Belongs To New Zealand 🇳🇿And New Zealand Only Thank Very much and the Boils up Too
By the way I cooked a boil up over that rainy weekend and it took me all the way back home and to heaven. Seriously people pay $$ for broth in health food stores and I literally felt healthier for eating it 3 days straight lol.
Lol that sounds amazing, what did you put in? The same as the video?
It all looks delicious. Those dumpling things are called doughboys or doughgirls
Yeah doughboys is a fun name for them, such great food
@@MoneymitchAU yeah its just flour an water boiled. It was like the best thing out of boilup for the young ones
Pour the creamed paua over the stuffing lol not too bad.
Shot my bro, we're so lucky to have grown up on this kai (food) 😊
where's the steam pudding cream and custard?
Crystal snapped
Highkey bro she popped off

The Hangi Shop in Auckland did not taste as good as this kai looked. This menu looks premium asf
🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤

LOL. Absolutely EVERYTHING about a hangey is culturally appropriated ancient European in ground steaming of introduced meat and vege. EVERYTHING!
None of it is "Traditional" except for the way it's cooked 😂😂😂
The origin of Boil up was a rich white man's food originally
What is it your eating Mitch island food or Maori food, and it’s not cream power ask some mozzies they maybe able to help you pronounce some of these Maori words.
easy work in comparison to a giant donut
The donut will be conquered again very soon
Some cream power...wtf
Maoris don't even consider themselves Islanders mate lmao. Islanders don't eat this food on the daily 💀
Which part of the video did I say they eat it daily?
And what land mass are Māoris from that isn’t considered an island?
@@MoneymitchAUBro, take the L on this one. Māori & Pacific Islander are two totally different things. People who know this are telling you politely.
They not dumplings they call dough boys
Did He Just Call those Dumplings Hahahaha }} 😂😂😂😂😂 White Boy We Don't Called those Dumplings We Called them Dough Boy's get your facts right (⌒▽⌒)☞.
You better eat everything in front of you
Love the vid. But as a Maori please stop calling it island food lmao
Was thinking the same thing haha
