- I'm playing my Yamaha Tyros 5 keyboard and using the vocal harmony feature with my voice. No MIDI nor pre-recorded music was used. Everything is live, using styles in the Tyros 5.
I'm 80 years old and now, and arthritis has paralyzed my two middle fingers, and it's getting tricky to play my keyboard. Only time will tell how much longer I'll be able to play a keyboard. Getting old ain't for sissies !!

There was a time when country music used to be called country and western. The western part was because songs of That era were ballads that reflected American art and history country music. Country music wasn't always about somebody doing somebody wrong song. Things became rock and roll with amplifiers and acoustic guitars.. listen to 1958 renditions of the Collins kids to catch what I'm talking about. In the past singers song songs about history, particularly their own history it was called an oral tradition.
There is one question I am really curios to ask you older folks. Do you feel that the best music was created when you were young and it's all downhill from there? Can you say in which decade you were born and from what year do you feel the music started regressing?
I am from 80s and I think the music peaked during 80s-90s and it is getting worse and worse each year. Do you also feel the same about 60s music if that was your generation, that all the best songs were created in 60s? Or you also think that music was progressing to 80s-90s and then started regressing? Or perhaps you listen to modern music and don't feel it's regressing?
I am trying to understand if this sensation that the music is progressing to a certain point and then regressing is just an age related phenomena, or the music really started regressing from a certain year.
I was born in 1949 and grew with the music of the 50s and 60s . I feel that music went downhill after 1973. After 1980 pure trash and I stopped listening to the radio. TV went south also.
In 1959, the transistor had actually been around for about 11 years. It was invented in 1948.
