Since S1, we have the same storyline regarding Joe's love interests. a wealthy, privileged white woman having issues with her father. Marienne was the only one to be different and to have had the same experience as Joe. she was adopted, she didn't have it easy and she always had to fight against the system, like Joe. what disappointed me about S4 was the fact that they botched the story of Joe and Marienne to go straight to Kate, which to me doesn't make sense. Joe killed Love and abandoned his son to be with Marienne. Kate's character is nothing new and added nothing to the show except for exonerating a murderer with her money covered in blood.
