    Wow this just popped up on my TH-cam. Many ways to tie this pattern. Yours is a fine version. Very effective all over the Northeast US. An oldie but a goodie. Thank you.

    Great tie, thank you, sir. When ever I have a need to learn the pattern better or another way, I refer to your youtube page.

    Davie,
    The black and red goose biot variant has the black biots in the front or the back?
    Thanks.

      Hi Brock Wilson,
      I tyed the red biots on the tail and the black on the front but you could do either..

      @@DavieMcPhail Davie,
      Thank you, I will try both ways and see which the fish prefer. Take care.

    Hi Davie, if you were to tie this on a jig hook would you tie it all 'upside down'?

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Pete lobster,
      I probably would as it's important that the white goose biots are on top, I've not tyed this fly on a jig hook but I'm sure it would fish well.

      @@DavieMcPhail He he he, i just noticed the pete 'lobster'! the last time i was called that was in 1976 when i was at school (he walks with a limp now)! i did get off lightly, my mates were Nobby Lips, Twister and Fat Tomma so i was happy enough to be called Lobster.

      Works a treat Davie, just tried one tied on a jig (size 18) on my local river (the Calder), managed to tease a hat full of grayling and 5 brownies out from the shopping trolley's, parking cones and broken crank cases that make up the natural fauna and flora of the Calder!

    where do you get the flat lead strips Davie ? and how wide is is it?

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi @chuckpatch1230,
      I have attached a link to the tape I use, you can buy it in different widths and cut it to suit. The original width I used was the 2 inch though the last spool I bought was the 1 inch and slightly cheaper..Some fly tying companies sell it in small lengths like Veniards who are a wholesaler so any company that stock their materials should be able to help you..

    Davie,
    That's a great idea to add the flash in on the back. I just tied up a few of these for my brothers wish I'd of thought of putting the flash in. I'll have to do it on the next batch. Also I'd love to see your version of the bloody Mary nymph, its another popular nymph here in the states. Might even be a new one for your greyling and browns by you. Hope all is good. Look forward to the next video. Sam

    Hey Davie!!! How are you doing sir? I watch a lot of your videos and I was curious as to why you rarely tie nymph or midge patterns with a bead head?

  • @REDRoverMike

    By the way sir.... You make biot tails look easy!!! It takes me a try or toe before I get it the way I like it.... Your a master fly tier

    HI Davie,
    Have you had any success on the loughs with these flies?
    You also mention a variant you tie with red and black biots.
    What is the tying for this?
    Best Regards

      Hi Leo Foley,
      This is a great pattern on the lochs, it can easily represent a few patterns depending on the way it's fished, I would certainly give it a go...

    Davie, I love to watch your videos, thank you for posting them. Would you mind posting a link to the adhesive lead foil you use, please? Do you cut it yourself or does it come in strips?
    Thank you!

      Hi Michael,
      The lead tape I use is made by 3M Scotch Tape which can cost a lot of money, another tape which can be used is made for adding weight to golf clubs..I've attached one of my videos which I show how you can make your own and this works just as well...Thank you for letting me know how much you enjoy the videos...
