- Here is my ranking of the top fifteen current ballet partnerships. As stated in the video, only partnerships where one of the dancers is still dancing as of Jan. 2021 will be considered. What do you think? What would you like to see next? None of these videos are mine.
Marianela nunez and Vadim Muntagirov♡
perfect
Vadream
These two are a pleasure to watch - Montagirov has become one of the best male dancers of his time. Nunez is just a good.
What a pleasure this list was. I have seen a good amount of these couples, but will seek out the ones I have not seen. It's hard to believe there are such attractive, talented people in the World, who can convey so much emotional range and beauty. I congratulate all of them on their achievement; and I am grateful to all the people who trained or supported them. Art like this isn't cheap or easy. I also would like to acknowledge all the great couples who did not make this list. Ballet is amazing!
Vasiliev and Osipova! Love their spirit.
She CHEWS up steps for breakfast. What a dancer! I love watching her.
It's a crime against nature that they're no longer dancing together.
Natalia Osipova is my favorite dancer but Steven & Sarah! I can't imagine them dancing with anyone other than each other!
I also love Steven partnering Iana Salenko.
I quite like Stephen with Akane Takada, but I'm not such a fan of Sarah with other partners.
Yesss Steven and Sarah👏👏👏
I love Natalia Osipova +Sarah Lamb with Edward
but sarah and vadim in Manon - there's a partnership.....:-)
Super collection SuperBalletgirl. Agree with others that Osipova and Vasiliev were special - firework virtuosity. I hope she gets tired of the semi-modern pieces and goes back to the classics. To see her dance these classic roles is an unforgettable experience.
Lovely to see Alina Cojocaru and Johan Kobborg in this list.
Also Sarafanov & Novikova
Thank you
Yes. Theirs is a wonderful partnership. Beautiful dancers.
Nothing like Vasiliev and Osipova !!! They are somethig else!
Honestly Marianella and Vadim are such an iconic partnership that I get angry when one of them dances with someone else
Obraztsova/Hallberg are superb! Obraztsova is not only a superb ballerina, she's also an excellent actress.
Absolutely beautiful compilation of sheer artistry and chemistry. Thank you sharing.
Altynai Asylmuratova and Farouk Ruzimatov💕💕💯💯💯
Just live for the classical ballet
Chudin/Smirnova is my favorite 😍
C'est superbe
When Osipova's jump is just as high as Vasiliev's 7:30
Ould-Braham and Heymann are wonderful together. I remember their Swan Lake, it was breathtaking!
I would add Gilbert/Marchand and Dupont/Legris to that list.
When Aurélie Dupont and Manuel Legris danced together, you knew you would spend an unforgettable evening at the opera. ❤️
I remember Oneguin in 2012 in Paris with Ganio excellent.
I am surprised that we d ont have Tereshkina wit Kim both of them technically perfect and a great interpretation
Excelent selection thanks. Sarafanov and Novicova- Kobborg and Cojocaru with a superior complicity in my opinion the best acievement of ballet parteners. 👏
As french ballet lover, I thank you for Ould-Braham / Heymann partnerdhip, wich is a light in POB. But, with all my love for Ganio and Pagliero, their partenrship was wonderful in Onegin, but it's not a regular one. See about Dorothee Gilbert with Hugo Marchand. Any of their common performances is a kind of miracle.
Woah I grew up watching those beautiful couples 😍 but what about Zakharova/Bolle? They're more than amazing together, I thought they deserved a spot in this list...
a beautiful pair !
Yes, i fully agree, Zhakarova-Bolle, such great chemistry like in la Bayadere and superb dancers.
Zhakarova was even omitted in the 15 best female dancers, that is incredible!
Thanks for uploading this video.🌷🌹
I started seeing ballet on 1963 and there was a before and after for male dancers; with the presence on occident of Rudolf Nureyev.
The first Giselle PdD; such a pretty set!
Yes, I was thinking the same! Giselle's costume is lovely. What are their names ?
@@dmmchugh3714Renata Shakirova & Fillip Stepin, Mariinsky theater, S. Petersburg. It is so called Peasant (or classical) PdD from the first act of Giselle.
Osipova and Vasiliev were something just so special. Wonderful stage chemistry. Brilliant partnership 🩰🩰🩰👵🇦🇺
They are all good but Natalia Osipova is amazing she can just soar.
Pagliero and Ganio. Love them ❤️
Marianela and Federico are good too, and Alejandro Parente(her bf🥺), and Roberto too, Francesca Hayward and Alexander Campbell
Novikova &. Sarafanov
Beautiful! Thank you!
I'll add Lantratov Alexandrova in "Nureyev"" they are wonderful!
Beautiful....
If 1 hadn't been Nunez and Muntagirov and they'd not been in the top 15 I'd have cried. Wish Anna Rose O' Sullivan and Marcelino Sambe had made it.
Wonderful
You forgot one of the most important ballet partnerships, that of Viktoria Tereshkina and Vladimir Shklyarov.
Alexandrova / Lantratov
Krysanova / Lantratov,
beyond question
Carino , anche se secondo me manca qualche passo a due (come Albrecth e Giselle Natalia Osipova e Carlos Acosta)
Vasiliev and Osipova - without any doubt - the best!!!!
It's a great shame they will likely never dance together again.
@@SuperBalletgirl101 totally agreed, they look so happy dancing together!
I would have thought Iana Selenko with Simkin {or anyone}. Aren't He and Korechkova with completely different companies? It's hilarious to see Nela Nunez as Gamzatti with Muntigirov because she also dances Nikiya. I'm envisioning some crazy post-modernist Bayadere with the same ballerina in both parts and everything taking place in his head {he can't sort out if his dream lover is the spoiled rich girl or the innocent dancer driven by things of the spirit lols!
Nunez is more well-known to dance gamzatti. She was just given the nikiya role many years after playing just gamzatti; her debut with nikiya was with soares (a few years before they divorced) if im not mistaken. For me personally, nunez-soares is a better partnership than nunez-muntagirov.
@@migiyoga6926 I thought her debut was the one with Muntigirov they broadcast around Christmas a year or so ago (but I'm in US and dependent on YT!) Soares was a good partner for her but her technique is at such a level that she seems more evenly matched with Muntigirov. One good thing about Cojacaru and Rojo leaving was it cleared the way for Nunez to get roles like Nikiya and Aurora (although she was a great Gamatti and Lilac). Still have only seen snippets of her Giselle and can only dream about what her mad scene was like! Amazing that she can credibly do both sorts of roles (I have a vid of her Myrtha, which is a best-ever).
@@minissa2009 she was able to do nikiya at royal even when vadim was still at english national. Yes technically vadim is better (especially as a soloist) but as for partnering work, soares can really give the support nela needed. I think soares is the stronger and more stable one when it comes to the lifts.
I also love Iana Salenko with bot Steven McRae and Daniil Simkin. But such a fan of Sarah Lamb and Maria Kochetkova, who i think is special aswell. Loads of great people around, but definitely missing Iana on here, too.
Marianela and Vadim
Angelina Vorontsova and Nikolay Tsiskaridze! They are wonderful together!
In my opinion simkin and salenko fits a little better. Definitely one of my favorites.
Nunes and Muntagarov, Osipova and Vasiliev share number 1. I wish Osipova and Vasiliev danced together longer. Cojocaru retired long ago. She really belongs to a different generation. Other than that all duets are good, but nothing special because ballet dancers dance with a lot of partners and do not have longevity in duet with them.
Cojacaru actually only left the English National Ballet at the end of 2020. She gave birth to her and Kobborg's second child soon after that.
Cojocaru and Koborg my absolute favorite couple! They spoke the same ballet language, a language I understand. And what can I say about the fantastic and underrated Stashkevich and Lopatin? I think they have not even danced Don Quichote in their company... I saw Stashkevich dancing Kitri and she was perfect for that role
I wish we saw more of Lopatin and Stashkevich; both are wonderful and Lopatin's partnering is exceptional!
Cojocaru & Koborg, MacRae&Lamb and Nuñez&Muntagirov
@@mariapilarfernandez792 agree.
So pretty
Vadreaaam 😻😻
The Bayadere of Khoreva and Kim is 🤩
Maria Khoreva-Vova Skljarov? Angelina Vorontsova- Denis Rodkin? Oksana Skorik?
Love Krysanova - Lantratov!
Hallberg was the best Marco Spada i have seen
Did you see Igor Tsvirko in the role?
@@raymonda5476 unfortunately not
Chudin also is very good
No question he is excellent
Can you show famous partnerships from the past? Ivan Vasiliev & Ekaterina Maxima, Richard Cragun & Marcia Haydee, Michael Baryshnikov & Gelsey Kirkland, Margot Fonteyn & Rudolf Nureyev, Patrick Dupond & Sylvie Guillem, Ivan Liska & Colleen Scott, and I am sure, I forgot many!!
Don’t you mean Vladimir Vasiliev and Ekaterina Maximova?!
@@stefannydvorak7919 Yes, I did, apologies got mixed up with Ivan Vasiliev who partnered with Nathalia Ossipova!
Altynai Asylmuratova and Farouk Ruzimatov💕💕💕💯💯💯
I would like to watch nikolai tsikaridze and Stepanenko (Ludmilla?)
2001 if I ma correct
Carla Fracci and Erik Bruhn
Also Shakirova/Kim?
Your video is great. Can I repost your video on another platform? Thank you very much.
I am also surprised that in the Nederlandse Nationale ballet we don’t have Isaac Hernandez
I am great fan of him.. but he`s with the English National Ballet now.
Thank you, i saw in in Nederlands, a couple years ago
Que gran altura la del caballero penúltimo ella hace bien porque aunque sea nefilito te puede hacer una torsión estoy con esta bailarina si no sería simulado o cuerdas y con misa beadac
Your lists always boycott Zakharova. Her Sleeping Beauty was unreal. As was her Dying Swan.
Interesting.
Just not a fan!
@@SuperBalletgirl101 Count me in on that !
She is overrated
I agree for the sleeping beauty she was stunning
No other Pas de deux than Zakharova’s and Uvarov’s is worth to watch. No one else possesses that lightly and graceful ability to perform.
Osipova and Hallberg
Nureyev and Fonteyn
exactly what i thought
Yes.... agree
Her list only includes dancers who are currently active. I don’t know if you heard the news, but Nureyev and Fonteyn both passed away quite some time ago.
Yes when stating " best couples" one must add ... " in their time".
Cant compare Margot and Rudi... with partnerships of today. In their time... they might have been the best..best in the west that is.
@@pamclarke6785 It’s written in the video description.
Diana & Marcelo
Olga Smirnova-Artemiy Belyakov?
omg yes! i have watched them together in la bayadere, giselle, raymonda!! they are perfect together! but i also really like olga pairing with chudin!☺️☺️☺️
These are her choices so don't fret if you didn't see your favorite. Now that I see that this
person is not a fan of Zkharova I'll take her videos with a grain of salt.
But it's so hard to choose who partners who the best it depends on the programs.
Without Nicoletta Manni and Timofej Andrijashenko, the list is terminally flawed.
Shakirova and Kimin Kim
Hallberg and Osipova?
I personally prefer her with Vasiliev and him with Obraztsova. I had tickets to see them in Swan Lake last spring which didn't happen due to COVID. Who knows how this list might have been different if the performance had gone forward!
Yesss
It doesn't get much better than this. Is there a reason they no longer dance together?
Why are there no Svetlana Zakharova and Nikolai Tsiskaridze, Maria Alexandrova and Nikolai Tsiskaridze? Zakharova and Alexandrova are still dancing. With all due respect to the couples you have shown, there are no equals in our time in terms of natural data, technique and artistry of Tsiskaridze, Zakharova and Alexandrova.
Read the description. Tsiskaridze is no longer dancing and she did not include those no longer dancing.
@@BalletomaneM The description says that those couples in which one of the partners is still dancing on January 2021 will be considered. Svetlana Zakharova and Maria Alexandrova, with whom Nikolai Tsiskaridze performed, are still dancing. Not a native English speaker, but the program in the browser translated it that way.
@@BalletomaneM You are WRONG because you are poorly informed👎 - In Mikhailovsky May 13, 2021 - A vain precaution. Dancing - N. Tsiskaridze and - A. Vorontsova. You can go and see! ☝
As someone wjo doesnt knoe ballet i feel like a stranger in the coment sections-
Нет ничего подобнее и похожее как Вл.Васильев и Ек.Максимова.
Thank you for this video. I am a writer and I am working on a new ballet story. I have been watching as much TH-cam videos about ballet as I can find and between the videos and the books I am reading, all I hear about is Nureyev and Fonteyn being the greatest ballet partnership of all time. Which raised a few questions for me: 1- what makes a great partnership? 2- How come there has been no partnership to rival theirs since Fonteyn retired? 3- Do ballet dancers take acting lessons at some point? I see perfect technique in all of these clips but the only couple that moved my soul was Matthew Ball and Yasmine Naghdi in Romeo and Juliet (Royal Ballet). Their balcony pas de deux was on another level in terms of acting. I really would like someone to answer these questions for me. Hmmmmm!
MJ Burgess, since nobody has answered you, I'm going to try. First, if Fonteyn and Nureyev are considered the greatest partnership of all times, to me they looked more like a mother dancing with her son (allright people, relax, it's my opinion). There has been some legendary couples like Ekaterina Maximova and Vladimir Vassiliev who were husband and wife and to me are unforgettable (but dancers don't have to be husband and wife to be a good partnership). What makes a great partnership? Chemistry. A balance between the two, it's hard to explain. Matching?
There has been great partnerships since Fonteyn & Nureyev, Alina Cojocaru & Johan Kobborg to name one.
Do dancers take acting lessons, not that I know.
I've watched that balcony scene you're talking about and was moved, too.
There is another great partnership to me, Olga Smirnova and Semyon Chudin (The taming of the shrew).
It's not much, hope it helped a little.
MJ Burgess - Well, I will also try to answer you. Of course, I'll start with the most important thing, it's that to define the current pair, in the world, objectively is NOT RIAL !!))) The question is WHY?) 1. - because the assessment itself is very subjective! ☝ 2. - Because that each ballet is completely different characters, choraters, eras, etc. and here we may be faced with copying the standard acting techniques! The so-called actors - the same role!)) When a couple is everywhere equally good technically and the same in figurative content, which in principle cannot be! ☝ The question is, do we have a lot of actors in films who can successfully play roles with completely different characters? Few single geniuses of various roles! And in your case, you are trying to find a couple of geniuses in ballet at once ☝ - NOT RIAL !!! ))) And how can you cover all the ballet theaters in the world ?? In advance, this company is doomed to NOT objectivity !! ☝ So that you will choose, most likely, only from those couples that, so to speak, are heard! For all the reasons listed below And this video, compiled - ABSOLUTELY NOT correct !!!)) ☝
Personally, on my channel there is a more correct comparison in the same parties! ☝ th-cam.com/video/5PeBxhJ5XvY/w-d-xo.html 🤟
Exactly, Maximova and Vasiliev are unforgettable. Galina Ulanova and Konstantin Segeev in Romeo and Juliet were the first interpreters and the best ever duet in that ballet. When they dance you see them together. Most of the time people see only a ballerina, but not her partner.
j'aime and alban are such an amazing duo, they work very well together! ida praetorius and andreas kaas are a particularly good pair from the royal danish ballet too, their performances in giselle and romeo and juliet were phenomenal! but i must know, where did you get the video of j'aime and alban? i've always wanted to see them do the full flower festival!
th-cam.com/video/E3OoOvMalTQ/w-d-xo.html
Zakharova - Bolle snd Zakharova - Hallberg???? What kind of list is this????????
One of her own taste. If you disagree, make your own version.
@@BalletomaneM The problem is that I made my own version, different, but few people visit my channel, for objective reasons! )) 😪
Carlos Acosta and Tamara Rojas in Manon
Maria Khoreva and Xander Parrish. May Nagahisa and anyone.
No.
May and Victor Caixeta💕💯
Just not Khoreva, not at all experienced, a young, novice ballerina, without inner filling !!))☝ You have bad taste!) 👎
@@observer1111 I don’t care what you think of my answer. I don’t agree with you.
The segment with the dancer named Ludmila Pagliero has some of the most ridiculous choreography that I have ever seen. How could a choreographer and an artistic director have decided together that this would look good?
7:31
Ko
Zakharova/Bolle is 1st place!
I don't agree with the rating at all, not the idea itself!) How can you judge couples by completely different submitted materials! ??))) There are parties that reflect more acting skills with a rather modest technical level and vice versa! Ie video provided by the theme ABSOLUTELY NOT korektno !!!))) 👎👎👎
Biased list...
Yes it's her personal opinion which means it is biased to her preferences. Duh.
